Under Keegan/Robson/Rafa, I wouldn't have been confident of beating Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal with half of our first team injured. As good as they were as managers, and as many good results we had under them. Putting 8 past SHU, thrashing PSG, scoring 5 against Spurs in 20mins. These used to be once a season highlights. These games are happening every other week atm! Add in the turnaround in players like Joelinton, Murphy, Longstaff, Lascelles etc. and Howe, imo, is the best manager we've had in the premier league.11 points

The best thing about Joelinton is he’s actually improving still. I thought he was sensational yesterday, his positioning keeps improving which is vital in CM and his growing confidence means he’s so assured on the ball. He also showed his versatility which allowed us to completely shift the team around when Willock etc come on. What a bloke.10 points

strange isn't it? arrived at the grosvenor casino yesterday to discover they've finally got some beer on tap so enjoyed a couple of doombars. cracking, tense game of football which resulted in a win which keeps right in the top 4 mix. lush sitty down mixed shawarma wrap in the kebab house. couple of more doombars. journey home seemed to piss by. feet up with a glass of white wine at 01.30 watching arteta's meltdown on motd. all sounds quite canny until exile reminded me i'd actually had a shite day out.9 points

What a result on the back of one of the worst refereeing performances of the season. (Fuck the whinging Arsenal lot by the way. Our goal stood because there wasn't conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision. VAR working as it should. Arsenal players should've been booked for crowding the referee by the way then and on other occasions. Not sure how we can have three players booked for dissent on our team after a studs up leg breaking tackle for which the Arsenal player was basically giving himself up to be send off for and then their lot have permission to crowd the ref repeatedly and do the same shit they've always done without punishment. It really seems like the bookings for dissent apply against the clubs held to be outside the traditional "Big 6" because that was not officiated consistently today. Ref utterly bottled it.) That aside: Brilliant result. This team just continues to impress and the players continue to perform above themselves when we consider the amount of fatigue and injuries in the squad at the moment. Shocking luck for Murphy again. Hopefully redoing the shoulder doesn't mean they'll conclude that an operation is required. Burn didn't seem good either but hopefully that's more of an impact injury rather than something tweaked in his back. Lascelles was brilliant at the back. Eddie has done it again. There has to be a discussion about whether or not he deserves to keep his place when Botman comes back from injury. Botman is obviously absolutely class but there has to be a discussion about keeping the selection consistent at the back when things are going well. Happy for Lascelles, too, he's been the model professional in the background for this team judging by the amount of respect the likes of Howe and Tripps have expressed for him over the last few years. It's wonderful to see him playing some class stuff.9 points

Before it got hidden from public view the consensus was that the VAR official had been paid off because he’d done a match in Saudi Arabia before. No idea if that’s the case but I’m fairly sure there’s more than one official involved anyway. When someone asked why Havertz wasn’t sent off it was apparently because that would’ve been too blatant in terms trying to influence the result Meanwhile the most exciting crop of youngsters in Europe failed to score against a Swansea side who played two thirds of the match with 10 men.8 points

I hope a shiver has run down Klopp’s spine as he’s due an embarrassing outburst at the hands of us soon. We’re going to beat them so badly his teeth will finally burst forth from his gums and shoot off down the touchline in true Looney Tunes fashion8 points

I thought it was a disgraceful tackle. Dangerous, out of control and full of intent to do the player. If Longstaff had got his studs caught then it probably would’ve been a very serious injury. Those are the exact sorts of tackles that players should be sent off for. If anything, the fact it was his trailing leg shows how out of control / late it was.7 points

Fair to say that Arteta is feeling the pressure now that he’s not got a straight shot at second. He’s got Liverpool, Spurs, ourselves and Villa to deal with at the very least and he sounds like a man who doesn’t really want to face up to that. Compare it to Howe’s interviews when we’ve been on the wrong side of bad decisions that have cost us points. The man is of a weak constitution and he’s another one that Howe is going to fuck over in the end. Everyone that has crossed us has came out poorly. Let that be a lesson7 points

It’s what pundits fall back on but in the rules it’s a red, I’ve always found it a joke when pundits come out with that as it implies the only way it’s a red is if Longstaffs leg is broken. If Havertz had connected like he intended Longstaffs leg would have broke, his studs were planted and havertz would have made contact mid shin. Havertz is one of those players where I hope he’s one day on the receiving end of the type of tackles he throws in. The blokes an absolute cunt who intentionally goes in to hurt players. It was a clear red card, imo the ref knew he fucked it up which is why he started booking all our lot to quickly get it all over with rather than look indecisive.6 points

Just to add I rarely watch MOTD these days but did this week and it was refreshing to see Howe's defensive tactics given some praise from Danny Murphy, too often is Howe's brilliant tactical nouse completely overlooked. He outthinks the leagues best managers consistently, every player is fully drilled on the job he expects. Brilliant stuff.5 points

Think about all the games last season where poor decisions cost us points. Compare Howe’s reaction then to Arteta’s yesterday.5 points

I hate to put a damp squib on our last two victories against Man U away and Arsenal at home but...... Sad5 points

"Have you spoken to Arteta since the final whistle?" Absolutely not, I've been speaking to you guys. "Will you go and speak to him?" No. I like Craig Hope but wtf sort of question is that. Why should Eddie Howe go and console Arteta? Weird. I really get the impression Howe doesn't like Arteta though. Which I fucking love.5 points
