  2. Only NUFC could go through 14 years of mike fucking Ashley not to mention the late Hall/Shepherd period where the taps were turned off, get a mega rich ownership group who probably aren't shy about investing short term to get us up to scratch before the sponsorship money plus sales keeps us on even keel not needing heavy investment BUT this PSR comes in to stop us. We can't have nice, shiny silver things can we? The squad is desperate for a refresh if we are serious about competing for cups and CL football but our hands are tied. The sales make perfect sense but the price is second half lethargic performances in the short term. It's shit but here we are. Step back and I'd far rather be in this position than the walking dead club we were under fatty as we have professional people brought in to problem solve this and a willingness from them for the club to kick on. It's frustrating though, nae twa doots aboot it as someone once said.

  5. Makem. Joined just to post this. Nee rivalry shite here. RIP Alan Shoulder. Lived the dream we all had of playing for his club. Sad, sad day. A good man, and a life well lived.

  7. We have been in a league cup semi final 3 times in our history, Eddie's got 2 of those, we've finished 4th, 7th and will be top 7 this season. Mitchell's man or not, Eddie's seat isn't even tepid, never mind hot. The only folks who'll be blaming Eddie are pissy pants fans who've forgotten where we've come from not so very long ago.

  8. Trippier is loads better technically and positionally than Tino but his legs have gone. They’re totally different players. Tino is a great athlete and his pace and energy on the recovery runs get him out of bother - a lot like Kyle Walker in that sense. He’s never going to be the most technical player - definitely lacks a bit of quality in the final third but he’s still young and will improve. I think Trippier will be looked back upon as one of our best right backs of the premier league era, if not the best. He was absolutely class in his first couple of seasons. Shame we got him at the back end of his career but he was such an important signing for so many reasons.

  9. He’s fast becoming Miggy in an attacking sense. Everything grinds to a halt whenever he gets a hold of the ball. If he can’t deliver set pieces anymore then he offers nothing. You can see exactly why Howe barely gives him a sniff these days. He was probably the most important transfer post-takeover because of his leadership on the pitch, and I am sure some of the transfers happened because we had a winner like him on board but he’s finished at this level now IMO. Tino pisses me off Maxi/Miggy style when he forgets he’s an England international, and trips over his own feet but his defensive work more than makes up for it. Especially, since we have Hall as the creative full back anyway.

  10. I mean we absolutely need rid of these players, and we're finally starting to shift them on. Some of you just aren't ready for a how much of a Hot Mitch Summer it's gonna be. Thankfully, I've packed speedos and shades.

  11. Aye look at that Miles Skelly lad trying to take the piss out of Haaland with the celebration. Fits right in with the rest of the pricks, city might be having a bad season but they're streets ahead of arsenal in terms of recent success.

  18. Just before I went but that's a shame, single handedly extended to the late 1970s an old NE tradition of a miner coming up from the pit to play for his club. RIP

  20. Lads, we're just gonna have to wait til the end of the summer window to make an assessment of Mitchell. If it transpires that we don't have a list of targets and the bloke has just been brought in to sell sell sell, then I'll hold my hands up at the end of August and admit he's a plank. But if I'm right and we have a list of targets that we're laser focused on, and won't be distracted by "ooo so and so's available, let's just get him in cos we're temporarily short", that's the sort of club we should hope to be. Much rather that than be the sort of club that signz Rashford on loan and pays "a significant proportion" of his £350k a week as some sort of experiment/rehabilitation exercise.

  22. This, I posted all but same on bluesky earlier this moring: Oh there's funds available I would think, the problem will be the players we want aren't. We'll want players who'll be part of the set up for 4-5+ years, not players for today. We're getting rid of those from the bottom end of the squad who hardly play, it's a risk in short term, but not long term.

  33. Eddie's only been stiffed, if he's not on board with the strategy and internally they are demanding results as if he had all the tools at his disposal. I would reckon that's unlikely the case. They want to win it all consistently, that's what we're building towards, Eddie'll know that.

  34. It's about targets being available. We want good players. Good players aren't made available for sale by their teams in January. The deal Juventus are making is a January transfer deal - get in a warm body. We're not in that game anymore. If our targets aren't available we shouldn't sign anyone at all. Which is what we're doing.

  39. i could see him going to liverpool or real madrid - maybe even chelsea if they finish top four given how they seem to have an limitless pool of cash to throw around. i read something the other day suggesting real might sell vini jnr and move mbappe back to the left and buy a proper CF. i wouldn't blame him if he fancied moving there in the slightest. arsenal is the club being linked the most, i have no idea what state their finances are in, but they've dropped £100m on a player before. and if isak starts to agitate for a move, it's hard to hang on to him. i'd be annoyed if he went to arsenal because their manager and fans are among the worst.

  40. I'm gutted for him. It's horrendous and stuff like that can't be unsaid. He just now has to live with the fact that he knows a certain portion of the fan base think that about him, and will say it if he has a bad game. Fucking horrible. Not really something you can really even understand if that's not a thing you live with.
