  1. You have me confused marra! Only yesterday, you posted this: Why is it that people on here think that the players...... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=25091 I posted this reply, but you did not respond. Maybe now you will understand what I was trying to say! Although, I reckon, that you must be on uppers and downers, given your “volte face” in just one day! Sorry, Mods, I posted this on his original thread - my fault, I was using it to copy/paste quotes!

  3. Great work marra. I reckon that it took a lot of guts to do it - will re-awaken some wonderful memories for most on here, of your happier times, but with today's reality thrown in. Respect mate!
  4. "Well helloooo Moike. Is that you loike?" (Said in a broad Irish brogue). "Yea Guv, but I fought we agreed never to use the dog n' bone." (Said in rough Cockerney). "Oi know Moike. Oi just couldn't stop moiself, though. O,O,O,O,O,O, the exoitment is makin' moi knees weak" "Fair does guv, I fought it was brill too"! "So, moike, fings are I fink about a yoir ahead of plan". "Fanks guv. When de yer reckon we can finish it?" "In January Moike, in January. Oi be finkin' that the £10m can be paid then, moibe with a lickle bonus too loike". "Only one fing I don't understand guv". "What's that loike Moike." "Hows yer gonna get the daft twats to go to Sid James' to watch yer reserves?" "That's easy Moike, you's already sold em the tickets." "Cheers guv."
  5. Please see http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=25091 (post 10), for my thoughts. I didn't see the point in posting the same thing twice!
  6. I'm not trying to "p*ss on your chips" marra but I think that you are missing something. The "fancy Dan" types are targeted in the CCC and rarely succeed, as they seem to think that they are too good to play there and don't put the same effort in as "lesser" mortals. Please don't forget that for most teams/players you will be their cup finals next season and (also) please don't forget the George Graham adage that you should never sign a player/include a player in a team that believes he is doing you a favour! To come back up needs a, totally, different type of player (and mindset) to the one that took a side down. This is one of the reasons that most relegated sides seem to change about 50% of their 1st elevens, replacing the more skillful with workers - Totally, ignoring the need to jettison high earners, because of revenue considerations! Also, nobody knows yet which of your players will, actually, be at the club when the season starts. So, on that basis, I think it is just too soon for, objective, predictions. Not "having a go" marra, just making an observation!
  7. Does anyone else get "pissed off" with links to players that seem to just be trying to get themselves a move to "your" club, or using it as a link to get another interested? Chat, chat, chat, yet the club does not confirm any major interest. The latest one, for us is Marouane Chamakh. His tactics reek of "Son of "Saggy Face" (using the media to get what you want) May "Saggy the Elder" die in hell! If he ends up signing, so be it but (for me) these tactics stink!
  8. I was so bored that I'd forgotten about that. How does it feel being only allowed to drink "fizzy pop"? Sorry mate, you may be older than that but your "Sky Boys" aren't! I wasn't here for a "pop", just wanted something to keep me awake! Honest!
  9. Four views in one minute, but no replies! Seems your lot have nothing intersting to say. You are confining me to cocoa or Ovaltine. Sheesh!! Wake up!!
  10. Now't seems to be happening. Not for your lot, or ours. Boring! Mind you, I'm just about to retire (pun on name), it's 3.08 here, but still have a glass of Scotch to finish. Howay, someone keep me awake, with something interesting, please!
  11. I know he was there first... that's why I said he was one "sunderland player" that I'd want in the Newcastle Squad... Arca and Reyna were decent, but I couldn't say I'd definitely have had them. It's difficult, because at times there were players that were decent but against the Newcastle team at the time I'd not have had any, similarly, there'd be players I'd have when our squad was at it's worst, but at no other time. I think I'm too young to remember any truly class sunderland players. I'm only 28 y'see I understand, fully, where you are coming from - much to my shame! I'm 61 and in the last 47 years (since I "latched on") there have not been that many, that I would have wanted. However, your lot have, in that time, taken away a few "dead beats" - Anderson, Clarke etc. But, I think that you could say the same of us - Guthrie, Young (I used to go to school with his brother, thank god, never in the same class, he invented the need for the word thick!). OOPS! Please forgive my sarcasm! Bellamy, "top class"? It seems, though, that you have ignored my question about SNQ! Would you still prefer FFS? A few other names (apart from KP) to throw into the melting pot would be Charlie Hurley, Brian Clough, Dave Watson, Dennis Tueart, Ritchie Pitt etc., and then coming (a little more up to date) Paul Bracewell (forgot that you thought he was a Mag), Marco (remember what he did to you?) etc.! I will admit, then my memory becomes a little hazey. Maybe, trying to "blot out" the thought of "Xisco" etc. ever playing for us - or ever wishing that they could, which I did not!
  12. My fatha's a sunlun fan From north of the river anarl. Both facts are enough to make a grown man. Tidied!
  13. Given was ours, before he was yours but still a fair shout, IF you had read the title to the thread. Great goalkeeper! No thoughts on Quinn or Phillips? They seemed to "do you over" with regular monotony. Quinn? A career lasting 15 seasons and he managed TWO goals against us. My comment about SNQ was not just based upon his performance on the pitch, but his performance since! However, I think that you may like (or not) to recall this goal, which reminded me of "The Mighty Wyn", or "Wyn the leap", IIRC!
  14. If you were looking to/attempting to purchase a company (any company, in any type of business), would you accept that the assets (of that company) could rise, or fall, whilst your bid was being considered? I think not! Agent Ashley is doing a grand job, within the rules!

  16. To reverse the question, I will give you a "starter". Wyn Davies, for me, was amazing and I would love to have seen him wearing red and white, at the peak of his career!
  17. Many thanks for the greetings from all. Was, slightly, disappointed that I was not told, by anyone, to "f**k off", it is a friendly response to a new poster, on the RTG (where I cannot post, because Roger treats every application, from Thailand, with an AOL email address as spam)!! Anyway, thanks to all apart from: Even I'm, nowhere near that age - bassa! Would have loved to have seen "Shack" play though!
  18. Good evening all - I'm in Thailand, so 6 hours ahead of you. Just a first post, to introduce myself. I used to live in Newcastle and get free paddock tickets, from a friend of mine who's dad used to write for the Chronicle. However, every time I went to SJP I felt "uninvolved" and like an outsider looking in. Boxing day 1962 I was sitting in front of the TV and saw that Sunderland had lost 1-0 at home to Bury, Clough had suffered his injury, Hurley had missed a pen and (please don't ask me why) I felt concerned. I then went to the next home game (Aston Villa, League Cup semi final) and felt "at home" the moment I walked into Roker. We lost 3-1 but that did not change my feeling and I've supported SAFC ever since. In those days, it was, not only, possible but normal to go to watch both teams and I was present against Ujpest Dozsa, when you won the ICFC - Wyn Davies was immense! Was, also, in the Leazes End when there were only (about) 14,000 in the ground, for the derby. It was p***ing down and the ball floated away when placed on the centre spot - We lost 1-0, McGarry scored for you from a pen IIRC. Anyway, enough of my memories. Evening all!
