  1. WUM Not at all. I'm guessing (but would have thought) you would agree, IF you watched it right until the very end! It would be enough to scare anyone - It's certainly more frightening than the original, so would need an X certificate, or whatever they call them these days!!
  2. It has been already. Watch this right at the end - after you may think the video is finished! http://www.dailymotion.com/dw6forengland/video/16148406
  3. An excellent read, thanks mate. No probs marra.
  4. I came across another Guardian piece, this morning, written by Donald McRae and published in 2005. It's actually an interview (not a journo's view on life) which I thought was a great read and as SBR talks about his time at NUFC in reasonable detail I thought you guys/guyesses might like to see it too. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2005/ju...ewsstory.sport8
  5. My sincere condolences to his family & friends. He was a true gentleman, may he rest in peace.
  6. This was a first, for me - A Thai girl wearing a NUFC shirt! Got talking to her boyfriend and he admitted that he has the last 9 NUFC tops, at home in the UK, but would not dream of wearing one (over here) himself, hence the g/f wearing one. Seemed like a canny lad - comes from Seaton Delaval (his mom used to clean at S/D Hall, before she died) and his name is Andy (I'm guessing but I think he is around 35-45 years old). Maybe, someone on here knows him. As I said, seemed like a good guy. p.s. He thought AS was the ONLY sensible appointment, until he listened to the counter argument!
  7. So, I don't think I will be upsetting anyone by wondering, indeed (on the strength of this video) wishing he could come up against Lorik Cana next season. I reckon that he would wet himself! Must say that I knew f all about the guy before we signed him. He looks as hard as nails, but any YouTube video can show the side to a player that it wishes. His nickname, though, at OM was "le destructeur" but he only managed to get 7 yellow cards and one red card last season. Maybe, French ref's are:
  8. Now, I think he would be a good signing but I've met the lad who is claiming to be a "buddy" of DB and (somehow) I can't see that being true! Hey ho! Maybe I should claim Danny Murphy, as a mate, (who I met twice) because he wanted to rent my apartment after he joined Tottenham. I turned the deal down - Nowt to do with him, I just did not trust the letting company. Sheesh!
  9. I was asking the OP, as everyone on this board, tries to tell me that "Sheareritis" is not a disease in Newcastle. On the OP's post I thought that his/her reply, to my question, may go someway to proving my point! Spoilt now. Don't be such a fanny man. I was only joking. But you spoilt the opportunity marra, you must see that, surely?

  11. Has anyone explained, yet, why it was "toned down" with black shorts, at Orient? On a personal level, considering some of the other abominations around, I don't think it is that bad and some of the colours/design features could hold some possibilities for summer leisure wear. Not a wind up! For example, imagine a plain white "T" shirt with only 2 stripes (one of each) down the left (facing) and the NUFC badge on the breast (right facing). Similarly, think of the same but with a yellow (or cream background) with highlighted stripes.
  12. Maybe, this suggestion may go "against the grain" mate but try posting it on the "Pure Football" forum, of the RTG. They have a few people who are great with it - I'm thinking of "Snockerty Friddle" (sp) and "York Mackem", in particular. Also, you may get an even more comical/mocking slant (which is what I think you are looking for) than you will ever get on a NUFC board. If in doubt please look at the "Big Sam - Big Fish" thread (may not be 100% correct but will not be hard to find). IIRC it had over 1000 efforts!
  13. I'm sorry marra but if you think that, by saying that, you have turned into Sherlock Holmes, I hate to disillusion you. I think that most people would accept that it is the biggest forum (for SAFC supporters) so, of course, I visit it. However, I am not a registered member because they refuse (for some reason) to accept a registration, using an aol email address, from Thailand on the basis it could be "spam"! Bassas!!
  14. Sorry marra, you are now becoming tiresome. Do you think that I am going to start, frantically, phoning/emailing people in the UK, in an attempt to establish some form of opinion poll, on NUFC? No chance! Even then, though, I reckon that you would wish to know the "sample" size, together with age and socio-economic groupings, etc. etc. etc., with the poll verified by an independent source! I, posted what I was told and if you don't like it, don't believe it - TOUGH! With regards to "Major Major", I recognise the name as a username on RTG but have no idea who he is in real life - In case you are thinking it might be me, it is not!!!
  15. I didn't think you were having "a pop" marra as you don't come across as that sort of guy. You just confused me, so I will attempt to explain again. The two guys I was talking about (having spoken to people at home) were confused about why people wanted Shearer and why anything that they may have said was disregarded with (my words) "You don't know how people here are feeling, Shearer is the only answer etc." So, it became a topic of debate when in the pub, as neither of them could not understand why NUFC would appoint him, given the needs that you now have, nor could understand why the fans would want him "Great players don't often make good managers - look at RK", was one comment that springs to mind. So, I posted their views on here. I hope that now makes sense.
  16. I think that most people overseas keep in, regular, touch with friends and family - by phone, email etc. Now, ask yourself why Newcastle United would not be discussed when the guys here want to know what is going on? Maybe, you think that they would/should only talk about things of no mutual interest? Not sure what you're on about there. You're confused? I'm baffled!
  17. I think that most people overseas keep in, regular, touch with friends and family - by phone, email etc. Now, ask yourself why Newcastle United would not be discussed when the guys here want to know what is going on? Maybe, you think that they would/should only talk about things of no mutual interest? p.s. One thing that I did not mention earlier was that I won 10,000 THB (about £180) following a bet with one of them (based on last season's league placings) and he paid up like a gentleman!
  18. In part I was passing on the questions raised by a couple of United supporting friends of mine, who live in the same city, as me, in Thailand. They seem, as much, puzzled by the clamour for a Shearer appointment (based on their contact with their friends/family at home) as I am. Why didn't they ask their friends and family then? Eh? Maybe, they had used up their "ask the audience" and "50/50" options!
  19. Thanks for that. I used the word "Messiah" once in my opening post in inverted commas, to suggest that it was an ironic use of the word. In the rest of that post and my replies since I have tried to convey the way that I would feel, if the positions were reversed, and what I would then wish to see happen. At no time have I attempted to "take the p*ss" out of your situation, as I grew up in Newcastle at a time when the rivalry was not as bitter as it now seems to be and had a lot of good mates who supported United. As a result of that, I feel sympathy for them (not of the patronising variety) - not derision. Regarding the Shearer question, I don't think even he would accept it (under current circumstances) so he, only, becomes a possible candidate once these change and once that happens the field opens up to other (in my view) more suitable candidates. My reason for posting on this board is that (unlike many others) most of the responses are reasoned!! Put another way, it's like having a chat in the pub (no kids) with, sensible, none SAFC supporters
  20. In part I was passing on the questions raised by a couple of United supporting friends of mine, who live in the same city, as me, in Thailand. They seem, as much, puzzled by the clamour for a Shearer appointment (based on their contact with their friends/family at home) as I am. So the only Newcastle fans you know in person don't agree with the the sentiments that Shearer is a messiah, and neither does anyone on this board? Yet somehow mysteriously their friends and relatives at home think this? Righto, of course you're not on a wind up. I was reponding to this question, from Alex: Obviously, I have read what is in the media but I have, also, read what is being said by many United supporters on your own forums. In my reply I said that the two NUFC friends of mine ( they are both 50 plus) could not understand why there was such a clamour for a Shearer appointment (their opinion is that it would be the wrong appointment) based on what had been said to them (pro Shearer) when they spoke to friends/family at home (Tyneside). They did not see the sense in it, whereas their friends/family did! Maybe I did not make that crystal clear and if not I apologise! I said it was not an attempted "wind up" and it is not!
  21. I can see that viewpoint but please consider an alternative scenario, in the case of MA staying. He has IMHO three choices. 1) To plough in more of his cash and risk losing that too. (I think unlikely) 2) Administration. (Again, I think unlikely) 3) To admit his mistakes and try to sort out the mess that he has created (Most likely in my eyes) If he chooses option (3) then he will, obviously, need to be seen to be serious about doing it by any new manager and that would involve making it clear that he wanted to, drastically, reduce the liabilities, whilst improving the chances of success. That would mean "biting the bullet" and clearing out the "deadwood" for the best deals that he can get, in terms of fees and any salary contributions that NUFC would need to make, to reduce outgoings to a manageable level - Not ploughing in yet more cash, in the form of a transfer "warchest".. In short, having a "firesale" and bringing in the type of players to get you out of The Championship (upwards) - Forget The Premiership, for now, that would come if and when you get back there! By waiting things can only get worse and if he stays I am sure he knows that. If he can be seen to be commited to doing that then I'm sure that attracting the right manager would not be that difficult - after all, NUFC is a club that many managers would love to have on their C.V., knowing that if they "get it right" their reputation is set for life! For me, if this was happening at SAFC, I would prefer an "up and coming" manager, who is desperate for the opportunity to prove himself at a BIG club, rather than someone who seems to believe that he is a "shoe in" and would be doing us a favour, on his terms! As I said previously, for me Darren Ferguson would hit all of the right buttons! From MA's perspective, if he gets you back to The Premiership, whilst getting the club back on an "even keel", then he can then recoup his losses (assuming that he would still wish to) and any investors would have in place a successful side with a proven manager. Maybe you disagree?
  22. In part I was passing on the questions raised by a couple of United supporting friends of mine, who live in the same city, as me, in Thailand. They seem, as much, puzzled by the clamour for a Shearer appointment (based on their contact with their friends/family at home) as I am. Ignoring the rest of the tabloid 1. Who exactly would that be? 2. Why would Assley appoint them when his whole reason for not appointing Shearer is because he thinks it will reduce the salelability of the club with a manager installed (self-destructive, but that is Assley)? 3. Why would this wonderful manager come to the club in the utter mess it is in? The question was not conditional on who owned the club but based upon who would do the best job for you, once an appointment was made. To answer your second point, because he would/should see it as a major step forward in his career and an opportunity to make a “real” name for himself. I think, unfortunately, that there is more than a modicum of truth in that one marra. Sorry mate, maybe I should have used the word “good” instead. I think that is a dangerous argument. Newcastle have only two years to get back into the Premiership, before the parachute payments run out, so it is vital (in my eyes) that expediency should play no part in any appointment. Having said that I don’t think that, once the ownership uncertainty is resolved, it should be difficult to attract the right man for the job which (again in my eyes) would not be someone making demands for a (reported) £30M transfer kitty! Instead if MA does stay, which is looking more and more likely, someone who would be happy to “wheel & deal” with a % of funds raised from outgoing transfers, is used to using the "loan market", effectively, and has proved that he can, successfully, work that way. Please don't forget that whether he stays or not that there are major financial issues that need to be, urgently, addressed! Someone like (maybe) Darren Ferguson?
  23. From where I sit (if the positions were reversed) I would want someone who understood the division, had already "cut his teeth" and had a proven record of success! I understand that you can talk about "passion for the club" etc., but so did Kevin Ball (for us) and his record compares, favourably, with that of A.S! You can throw RK at me but I do not think that the position that we found ourselves in can be compared, directly, with yours. We had no, supposedly, decent players and had just suffered not just relegation, but relegation with a record low number of points (at that time). In addition, we were at the bottom of The Championship, after IIRC 4 games! We just needed a lift that a "name" would bring - any "name"! You guy's are IMHO in a, totally, different position. You don't need a "name" to re-awaken interest, or re-affirm that you are a big club, we had lost/were losing fast any claim on that tag! I think that you still are viewed as a big club (albeit a laughing stock, at the moment). Surely, what you need is someone capable of getting you back into The Prem (maybe, stabalise for one season and then go for it, or go for it first time, whilst the "parachute" payments are still there) - no more no less, then you can build, again, from there, not another "Messiah"! For me, if that would involve a "Mic-Mac" type manager so-be-it. Build one block at a time, as we are now attempting to do - No more no less! No smiley - I think one would give the wrong impression!
