1. This gentleman's agreement could well be true as Wigan were desperate to get him to sign a new contract as the inital one contained a relatively low buy out clause though Jewell has said that the agreement is a load of rubbish.

  2. Catalina without a shadow of a doubt.

    Catalina for me too.

Yep, she's the clear favourite for me too.

Agreed. Those who say Joy are mad, blind or both.

    ;)

You saying she wouldn't get it? Both are quality but Joy first, its the trailer trash look that does it for me tbh.

  3. Very good player, but then again so was Barry Ferguson at Rangers, not quite good enough to cut it at Blackburn. Worth a punt at £4m or less but can't see Celtic letting him go at that price.

  4. I don't mind the monarchy overall but I don't think the line should be hereditary, when the monarch dies I think the next one should be chosen at random from the electoral role, certainly less in breeding that way.

  5. Well he wouldn't say anything concrete, just that this Sat was obviously out of the question, but he was smiling a lot more than usual and said he would be keeping everything crossed for tomorrow so perhaps things aren't as bad as first thought.

  6. Bellamy didn't exactly have the greatest injury record with us either tbh though.

    I'd rather keep Owen.

He seems to have been pretty reliable since his last comeback for us (made up injuries aside!).

    124419

Still only started 24 games this season, though it is a few more than Owen.

  7. Roeder should be judged on what he has achieved at Newcastle, and that alone.

His record in the games he has managed us is comparable with that of SBR at his height. He's got results from the same set of players, with the same sort of injuries as Souness couldn't. And Souness was "getting all he could out of the players" remember!!

    124556

That's the problem, we can't compare every candidate to Souness, otherwise every man and his dog would be good enough for the job.

Roeder has done well so far but all the teams we've beaten have been either worse than us or around the same level on paper. I'm not saying I expected us to beat Chelsea, Man U or Liverpool but had we done that then I would've been more impressed with him.

And we can't judge him on what he did at Newcastle alone, any potential appointment has to be judged on past achievements as well. He got a very good West Ham team relegated and the story about how they had the most points of any team to be relegated doesn't matter as Brooking earnt them 7 points from their last 3 games.

I'm yet to be convinced by him, he has done well since he came in but for me he would have to have done an exceptional job to be considered for the post. If a more proven manager is out there and is willing to take the job then I'd prefer him to Glen.

  8. He might have been joking there, but nothing excuses the Oprah incident.  It's one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. :icon_lol:

They should remake Lord of War and make it any good.

So I'm not the only one who thought it was a pile of steaming shit as oppopsed to a brilliant insight into the troubles facing African countries in their struggle for democracy then?

    BTW http://www.gorillamask.net/cruiseoprah.shtml

  9. But the volatile forward is believed to prefer a move to Anfield - despite his close relationship with O'Neill - as he is still hurt by the fact Newcastle's fans booed him when United played at Ewood Park this season.

Boo fucking hoo, if our own players have to put up with us booing them then why should he be exempt? No neck, sheep shagging dwarf. Having said that I'd love to see him back.

  10. Aye but most teams can pick out a few games where they should have picked up points. Tbh most seasons we could've pointed out more games but our football was so bad that the league position was a true reflection of what we deserved, if I hear "Lady Luck" mentioned again I'll fucking scream.

I think 6th may not happen for us but we need results to go our way plus we have three very tough games coming up. West Brom and Birmingham are both fighting for survival and will be hard to beat. I'm just hoping that the Chelsea players will be looking to keep their boots clean for the World Cup on the last day so we can cause an upset.

  11. As snakehips and shak say, the chairman MUST back his manager regarding football related decisions. I realise some of you think Fred is team manager, those that do sadly, there is no hope for you.

I agree with that but there is a big difference in spending money and backing your manager.

Robson wanted Miguel, we ended up with Carr, Souness wanted Boa Morte, we ended up with Luque it would seem. The signings of Kluivert, Butt and Luque as well as the sale of Woodgate seem to have originated in the chairman's office rather than the manager's.

For the record I'm not "Shepherd bashing", I believe we could do a lot worse.

  12.

 Ah, Eireann go brea, my heart aches.

The French aren't that different in that regard.

Aye but the Dubs do it in their own special way.
