  1. He was absolutely class!!  It took him bloody ages to put his banner up all by himself

He was taking photos and one of the stewards must have felt sorry for him as he took his camera off him, took his photo and gave it him back. It was class when the "You've only got one fan" chant started and he started waving to everyone

    What a legend.

  2. Pathetic

That's my opinion and I saw the game.

Totally disagree. We played some smashing football tonight. Thought the whole team bar Luque and Harper (he ahd nothing to do) were superb, in particular the midfield. Only reason we didn't score is because we had no out and out striker on the pitch.

  3. Looks class on that clip.  I'm still gutted that I missed Shearers testimonial.  Is it out on DVD or have I dreamt it?

  4. Gerrard dubs Ronaldo a 'disgrace'

Steven Gerrard has branded Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo "a disgrace" for his part in Wayne Rooney's sending-off at the World Cup.

Gerrard was furious when Ronaldo got involved after Rooney appeared to stamp on Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho.

"Sadly a dark side stains Cristiano Ronaldo's game," writes Gerrard in his autobiography, which is being serialised in the News of the World.

"His part in Wayne Rooney's dismissal was a disgrace."

The Liverpool midfielder, who was appointed vice-captain of England this week, expressed particular dissatisfaction with the wink that Ronaldo appeared to give to his team-mates on the bench after Rooney had been dismissed.

"What really [got to] all the England players was Ronaldo's wink to his bench. It was a wink which said 'job done'. How could he do that to his Manchester United team-mate?

"On the bus after the game Wayne asked me: 'What do you think about the wink?'

"I said: 'Honestly, Wazza, if we were playing Spain and [Liverpool team-mates] Xabi Alonso or Luis Garcia winked at the referee or gave a signal for me to be sent off, I'd never speak to them again.'"

When Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo halted play and then brandished a red card, Gerrard initially thought it was for a Portuguese player.

"Players like Carvalho are damaging football, not Wayne Rooney," writes Gerrard.

"It's coached into them that when an incident like that happens, they go to work on the ref.

"Ronaldo was at the front. But the blame does not just rest with him. Five or six Portuguese players were at it."

Gerrard also believes England's players' cockiness in the World Cup cost them dearly.

"We are not as good as we think we are. England were guilty of over-confidence. Me and the other players constantly claimed we could win the World Cup - it was stupid."

  5. Doesn't seem too outlandish. Would be happy to see both players here. My only worry is that the Cole deal wont happen so Bridge may decide to stay at Chelsea.

Also wish there were 2 strikers on that list as well. :D

Even if the Cole deal doesn't go through, Chelsea will still be after another left back. Or you'd presume so anyway with the Gallas situation, that just leaves Bridge. But then you have a possible scenario of Chelsea refusing to let Bridge go as they would have no recognised back-up.

Sorry if I've complicated things there :D

  6. Trabelsi set to sign for Man City

Hatem Trabelsi is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City.

The right-back, 29, who played for Tunisia at the World Cup, will move in a free deal as his contract with Dutch club Ajax has come to an end.

He has been a long-time target of Arsenal and has also been linked with Liverpool and West Ham this summer.

City boss Stuart Pearce said on Thursday: "He has a couple of medical tests still remaining but we should have permanent news on him later on."

Trabelsi retired from international football after winning the last of his 59 caps at the World Cup - the third in his career.

He also helped Tunisia win the African Cup of Nations in 2004.

Monaco and Paris St Germain also tracked Trabelsi this summer after he had made it patently clear last season that he would let his contract run out.

"I have been at Ajax for five years," he said in December.

"There are more opportunities in England and I think it's time for me to meet my destiny."
