  1. Yank on another board I post on has posted this for us:

I wouldn't be shocked if he was ur best centre-half at season's end. I also like what Newcastle did here. They loaned him for the rest of the season and have an option to outright sign him over the summer if things work out.

Now as a player gooch is not slow like someone said who referred him to Hyppia. He's got great top speed and pace but like anyone his size he lacks alot of acceleration.

He will get called for alot of fouls because players can't help but get knocked down by his absolutely mammoth size. The fouls are going to be a problem but as he's matured he's done a better job of avoiding fouls. He got carded often in his early career at liege.

With that said his athletic ability is probably top 10 in the prem. He's great in the air, has good man-marking skills and better than expected touch. His performance against Jared Borgetti in the qualifier versus Mexico was absolutely legendary.

As a player he's comparable to the brazilian Alex on PSV but with a higher talent-ceiling.

I would think he'd get called less in the premiership than in belgium(what's belgian football like anyway)?

  2. Traore to Portsmouth has been completed today hasn't it?

    jimmy traore?

i loved this little ditty the liverpool fans used to sing a few years back -

"don't blame it on the finnan, don't blame it on the hamman, don't blame it on the biscan, blame it on the traore.

he just can't; he just can't; he just can't control his feet. "

His goal for Burnley against liverpool was great.

    Superb finish <_<

  3. Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd insists he has no influence over who the club sign.

It has been suggested that Shepherd makes the decisions on who the club signs and not the manager Glenn Roeder.

Shepherd has promised to make funds available to Roeder to bolster his injury-hit squad in January and Shepherd is adamant Roeder has the final say on who comes into the club.

"I don't interfere with transfers and it is ludicrous to suggest that I bring in the players or make signings without the manager being involved," Shepherd said in the News of the World.

"There is no way I have ever said to a manager 'There is Mr X - you have got him whether you like him or not'.

"It would be madness for anyone to do that. I know that they do that on the continent, but it wouldn't work in English football.

"I don't get involved in team selection and I don't hang around the training ground. That's not what I am paid for

"We have spent £250 million on players since I have been on the board, so no one can ever accuse us of not backing managers."

    Okay then :(

  4. Not a chance of Wayne Bridge coming here. We're fighting relegation ffs.

I think he would be willing to come on loan realising he isn't first choice at chelsea and wanting some first team football, why oh why didn't we get him in summer?
