Listen from about 4 minutes - Barton reckons Pardew is the best English manager around.
To be fait, there's not much competition. Steve Bruce, Harry Redknapp, Chris Hughton, Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren are his main rivals for that crown.
It's like being given the award for best English red wine. It doesn't necessarily indicate quality.

Aye, it's not a position I've ever really taken before, but if it drags the mackems back into the mire, I'd take a defeat.
The Arsenal defeat could work against them too, as if Arsenal beat West Ham they're guaranteed CL football, meaning their last game of the season against Norwich is meaningless, especially with them having a cup final shortly afterwards.

I heard it just before FT in the Gallowgate. Presumably if the match had fizzled out to a 1-1, nowt would have been said, as there was barely a murmur before the penalty.
I've heard plenty of public calls in the crowd for Souness, Allardyce, Roeder, Robson, Dalglish and even Keegan, although none with quite as many participants.
Still plenty who simply couldn't be arsed to join in like.

To be fair, I haven't read her original report. I do know what she's like though, and will get all the mileage she can from a single quote, building several level of assumptions.
It's the equivalent of getting a text from a mate to say he's going to be half an hour late arriving to the pub and automatically assuming its because he's shagging your wife.

He's a professional footballer - surely he must be able to kick a ball properly! Admittedly his shooting has been nothing short of atrocious so far, but you don't get as far as him if you can't kick a ball.
If it's a confidence problem, then maybe, given time he might find some form. Not holding my breath, mind.
