The Intelligent, Resolute, Vigorous, Angelic Geordie Boys vs Lester
trooper replied to LooneyToony's topic in Newcastle Forum
It is Rafa's doing what he can with what he's got. The fact he's not got enough is Ashley's fault. -

Most of these players were bought by Rafa because time & money was tight.Everyone knew including Ashley Rafa would need 2 teams. One to secure promotion from the Championship the other to secure a place in the Premiership then build on that.I cant understand why some fans are starting to turn on Rafa when he's all but publicly said Ashley lied to him regarding funds for players "He knows what he told me" I think Ashley's getting away with this when any vitriol & anger or critiscism should be directed at Ashley its his fault & not Rafa's -

Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
trooper replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
The Mail: ‘Understand that no agreement was reached during their dinner at a curry house in Hampstead and the offer from Staveley and PCP Capital Partners remains at £250million. Mike Ashley is holding out for £300m and has claimed that a rival bidder is prepared to pay £320m, although no details are known of the second party. Another complicating factor is Newcastle’s performance on the pitch and the threat of relegation from the Premier League. Benitez is desperate to reinforce a squad he believes was left short after the summer transfer window and has called on Ashley to invest, reminding him that a club heading for the Championship will not be as valuable to prospective buyers.’ -

If Rafa knew 100% that Staveley was deffo taking over he could have all his potential new signings ready to just sign their contracts. Medicals etc could be done in the knowledge the money was there. -

I'm reading it could take a further 40 days once the deals accepted before PCP would be new owners. The reasons being further due diligence & approval by the football league. This must be why the 2 week deadline was mentioned at the begining of the week. if a deal was sorted today we'd be looking around the middle of January for the new owners taking over. Giving Rafa very little time for reinforcements 2 weeks later & the window closes, Rafa would have very little to buy reinforcements probably having to sell to buy. The clock is ticking. -
