  1. Right on cue, im going to carry on complaining - it seems to be working
  2. Can you show me the other club on this list that have just been taken over by the richest owners in the world? And are in a dire situation without a fit striker, the worst defence in the league and have stated ambition to win trophies not to far down the road? Comparing us with anyone else on there is apples and oranges mate. Dont get me wrong I was pissing the bed yesterday before the Wood news and Wood is a long way to a good window but its not looking like we will get a CB before Watford, thats half the window gone by the time we play them. Maybe I am being a spoiled naive twat here, but with all the noise around the club before the window opened I guess having 3 players in before the biggest game of our season and half way through the window was to much to expect.
  3. Aye if we get Botman or Carlos or any other solid looking CB before Watford disregard all of my bed wetting
  4. Absolutely, both parties have to be willing to negotiate and without one side taking the piss and as you say towards the end of the window if a player wants to go somewhere else it usually gets forced through by hook or crook. My only gripe being that our situation/desperation + the amount of cash we in theory have to play with it should be enough to get a deal done with both sides being happy without it dragging on towards Jan 31st. As we have seen now with the Wood deal it was possible after all, you'd have a good point about the release clause however it was reported last night that the Burnley chairman actually accepted our offer rather than us triggering the clause. Perhaps Wood himself said he wanted to be on his way likely since this might be his last chance at his age for a big contract.. plus maybe his team feels that we are a better chance of staying up than Burnley. Thats fair, two deals at once should mean it will take twice as long to get pen to paper generally. It doesnt feel like most of our offers are even getting that far though, Trippier was done right fair enough but the owners have had months to streamline this process knowing the situation we were heading into this month and seemingly they havnt done a great job yet. I was concerned when we took so long to appoint a manager and dof and I think these growing pains are probably also spilling over the to transfer side of things to. I appreciate the owners are new to this and im personally very happy with Wood and Trippier.. just feels like we really are struggling to get business done in decent time.
  5. £20m for a 30yo proven striker who has scored double figures in 4 straight seasons in the prem is good value
  6. Decent business this, Dyche must be growling himself sick whilst ironing his favourite 'i voted brexit' t shirt right now.
  7. Im pretty happy with this, a different type of striker to what we currently have, proven prem record, prime years of age, weakens a rival and wont cost a great deal for what should bag us an extra 5/6+ goals before the end of the season. Trippier planting crosses on this units head will be a thing of beauty.
  8. Wonder what the fee is and if the release clause is true, if not Burnley are mad letting him go to us
  9. Yeah I should clarify im not trying to shit on the new ownership with my complaints, I appreciate they might have not got the recruitment network set up that they would like to have and that January is a shit window do business in anyway. But with the money, the new ambition, the circumstances and so on then especially after Wilson got injured I did expect us to get a worthwhile new striker in within the first half of the window. Maybe I am expecting to much here, I do get the feeling that we are cursed sometimes.. if this was fucking Leicester or West Ham or absolutely anyone else I bet they'd have secured at least a few deals already.
  10. Luckily money usually means people will do something without being forced to
  11. But does it really take that much time given our circumstances? It was reported by Hope on twitter that Wilson would be out for 4-6 weeks on the 29th of December, thats more than enough time to get something worthwhile done given our financial situation means we arnt scraping around for a loan here. How many times have players moved on deadline day in just hours? From the time a bid is put in to putting pen to paper can be done in a day or less than, especially if its a player such as Wood who is down the road in Burnley.. its not like we are trying to play fm here really is it? Also about a CB, yes its also a priority but cant we operate on multiple deals at once? It doesnt necessarily matter what order they come in as long as they come in as we need them. Dont worry im going to wash my pissy sheets shortly but I cant help but think it does seem slack that we are going to go into this game with no striker on the pitch.
  12. I dont think Vlahovic was ever an realistic target like, the club will have a list drawn up and I'd bet that most of those names havnt even been leaked as links yet. The first half of Cambridge yes, the second half when they sat back showed how weak we are going forward with no actual striker on the pitch - our best outlet in Saint Max who was played as a striker running absolutely nowhere for 45 minutes and 35 crosses into their box aimed at no one that can head the ball wearing a Newcastle shirt says enough really. Im not suggesting we panic buy, im saying that we have had enough time to get something done in time for Watford.
  13. Even without Wilson being injured a striker would have been high on the list, still a week to get someone in given our desperate situation must be doable. I know clubs will be taking the piss but im just not buying that it cant be done.
  14. Wilson got injured 15 days ago and the windows been open for 11 days now. We knew his injury was bad so signing a striker should/will have been have been pushed to a priority before the window was even open especially with Gayle catching a case of the rona as well, personally I find it a bit disappointing that we cant get at least one of our top 5 striker targets through the door for Watford considering this game might literally define our season. We saw how badly our attack is disjointed without an out and out striker in the 2nd half vs Cambridge and Howe would have known this before hand anyway, I bet hes as disappointed as us that its not looking likely he will have the option to play an actual striker vs Watford.
  15. He'd be a decent option tbf. He'd be something different as a focal point of our attack and since our squad is almost entirely equipped to set up to play on the counter we saw yesterday what happens when we have to try and open up and push a team thats defending well sitting back in a low block - we are toothless. Apparently we put 35 crosses into their box and had no one effective to get their head on any of them really.. he wouldnt be a terrible option on this reason alone and has a decent record. Would rather Mitrovic back though as someone already said
  16. Why would Burnley even consider selling him given their own position?
