I said it at the weekend, coming in and bringing our defence up to at least the sum of its parts quickly is not something I expected Howe to be able to pull off. He’s never been known as a defensive coach and his style at Bournemouth was certainly not defensive, in fact you could argue the reason that Bournemouth got relegated in the end was when they started struggling to score as well as they had been previous seasons.. defensively they couldn’t dig themselves out of it. A manager like Benitez and we’d be talking the other way around (we saw it in those last 10 games in 2016). He came in and was extra cautious while trying to build our team from a solid defensive base but going forward at times was dire, Howe is the opposite. Question is - is that what this particular team needs in this particular situation?? I’m not sure yet, I’d like to see us spend our budget on defenders entirely + 1 DM..

Going forward we are far better than pre Howe, pressing, energy, general fitness is all way better. Its just at the back we are an absolute cluster, cant remember so many individual mistakes every week

Im not trying to be that guy HOWEver im starting to wonder if Howe has the right style/qualities we need to coach defensively to get out of this shit (with or without new players). We are a shambles at the back, the amount of individual mistakes is making me think its more over the whole defence being shambolic to the point players panic and drop clangers like its partly a confidence thing.. these same players have never looked this bad at the back

If Clark is anywhere near a starting 11 again I wont be watching
