1. You should lock them so no-one else can post.

Except the original author who as the writer of the first word should also be entitled to the last!

    33917

    Why??

Anyway no, it's now locked down for everyone.....

    (except the mods!)

See above for the answer to your question.

I don't know why you're getting so excited about being the original author. It's only when wankers like me get embroiled in pointless arguments that the threads start getting good :nufc:

Good to see we both know are places in life then alex.

I start the gold and you wank all over it!!!!!!!!

  3. You should try working in Byker, the new trend round here is ti name your kid something only slightly off the wall but then spell it totally wrong so it's unique. Like 'Sumer' and 'Tabiffa'.

    33909

You sure that's not just the level of education the locals have?

    33910

Well, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt...

    33912

That will just leave you in trouble. Next thing you know the whole of the world will be speaking 'merican and Britney will be queen.

  5. They are the polaroid of the new millenium

    33903

Cobblers. They're here to stay as the mainstay of consumer-level photography.

    33905

    Did you just say cobblers????

    Gemmill yes and no.

The thing about digital cameras is that most people buy cheap and below average quality because they don't know any better.

    Do you remember 110 film?

It was the stills version of 8mm and although it was film the quality was average because of the size of the film.

Plus as I stated most people won't worry about the lens and no matter what the actual back is if the lens is cheap and nasty that is what you get, just like with the 110 cameras.

The company I work for also has a stills department and I can tell you that the move to digital cameras at a professional level has been very tentative.

A professional camera back costs 10k Australian plus and the lens they use are the same they have for their 35mm cameras - all rather costly.

Most people won't go to half that level, hence the polariod comment.

People are happy to buy a cheap, fixed focal length digital camera or even worse one with a digital zoom. Which is fine and dandy if you just want to look at it on the lcd at the back of the camera or on your computer monitor but if you want to print it and hang it on your wall, well good luck.

  6. They are the polaroid of the new millenium, good for home made porn and that's about it!

But if you must, just as others have said and this applies to all cameras, it is about the lens. The better the quality the better the picture.

If you must and can afford it try here:

    happy snappy

  7. As has been pointed out on another thread - that's down to Craig shifting threads over there that didn't deserve to be considered gold than anything else.  Vaguely amusing does not equal gold. :nufc:

So don't be thinking you're good cos you're not.

    Which tread?

I'd like to read this discussion please.

Fuck go on holidays for a week and world moves to fast!

  8. and I see I'm the most popular author of gold status threads.

    Cool!

It has been a bit of a slow day.

Now what else can we discuss that has gold written all over it?

  9. I'd take Mimi over Catherine, Alistair and Craig...

    33880

That's only because you've seen her home made porn on the web, you dirty bastid!

(Note for those that don't know, Elle Macpherson has a sister by the name of Mimi who thought it would be cool to let her boyfriend video them one evening. The short version is that after they broke up he decided it maybe worth something from the family, so he asked for a small fee. And in order to help with the ease of distribution he took it to a local video dubbing company to have copies made. The tape operator there recognised Miss Mimi and it found its way out into the public domain. The sad fact is that although said boyfriend is rather well endowed, he is pretty useless with it and most of the tape is her masturbating like a jack hammer on her clitoris!)

I meant what I said. 80s music was wank and should not be played today. Wipe all evidence that the 80s ever existed as far as I'm concerned.

    33885

    How old are you 12?

Melbourne was actually the centre of some of the best music ever produced in the 80s. Places like the corner hotel, the venue, the palace, the espie, the punt club and host more were venues where bands like blue ruin, the olympic sideburns, the wreckery, nick cave, space juniors, the bo weevils, the stems, the scientists, hoodu gurus, lime spiders.

And yet you can only think of faith no more and the pixies???

  11. I'm sure there's a meaning to that....

    33679

    Like saying Schwarzenegger is American.

    33687

Is he registered as an American citizen then??

    33696

Yes, but he isn't American if you get my drift.

    33704

Point of clarification: inorder to be elected to a Government position one must be a citizen of the United States, Governor Schwarzenegger anyone?

Steve if it's a daytime wedding just wear your sunnies or if that's not an option just go out tonight in St Kilda and pick a fight with a saints supporter after the match. At least they won't be able to see the redness until the swelling goes down.

  12. Why do people put so much shite on 80s music?

The mainstream was crap but look deeper and it was amazing:

    Killing Joke

    Jesus and Mary Chain

    The Cocteau Twins

    Actually most of 4ad.

    The Pixies

    The Cure

    The Smiths

    KMFDM

    Depeche Mode

    Siouxsie and the Banshees

    New Order

    The Style Council

    Sisters of Mercy

    The Mission

NIck Cave and the Badseeds (Also the Birthday Party)

    The Scientists

    Echo and the bunnymen

    Violent Femmes

    The Cramps

    Talking Heads

    The Stems

    Dexys Midnight Runners

    Dead Kennedys

    Black Flack

    Ministry

    New Model Army

    Caberet Voltaire

    Severed Heads

    Talk Talk

    The Blue Nile

    It's Immaterial

    Blue Ruin

    The Hard Ons

    The New Christs

    The Sugarcubes

    The Smitherines

    Husker Du

    Tad

    Big Black

    Grand Master Flash

The list goes on and on and yet all anyone chooses to remember from that period musically is crap like black box and the fucking happy shite house smilie music or American crap like Whitney Houston.

If you take the time and effort and search through things like the new wave and new rommantic bands you can even find some musical jems, it wasn't all shite.

We should be thankful for 80s music as it started a revolution with the rise of independant record labels. There is no way in hell that Geffen or Sony would of released stuff like Nirvana or Pearl Jam if it hadn't been for 4ad, sub-pop or even CBS's success with Fiction records.

The belief 80s music was a nonentity is just a myth, explore and find the truth.

  13. Luke, forget Noosa it's like a middle aged, upper middle class, over tanned retirement village.

Byron is great, and most of what Alex said is spot on.

Regardless of what Steve says Melbourne in July is somewhere to stay away from, unless you want to hang out in the cold and grey, with antarctic winds blowing through you everyday.

Sydney is ok weather wise, if it is snowing in the mountains then it gets a bit windy and cold but that usually doesn't happen until August.

If you have the opportunity forget Melbourne or Sydney and get into central Australia. Ayres Rock, Alice Springs are two places that as you have travelled so far you really should try and see. There are flights out of Cairns to there. Also Broom on the west coast, is a place not to be missed but remember to cross the country by plane it is about 5 hour flight and about 4 between Cairns and Melbourne. Forget trains our rail network is hopeless and driving, well I drove Sydney to Cairns a few years ago and it was about 27 hours behind the wheel.

  14. Thats not actually what he's about and he's in a different league to Souness.

Allardyce uses gameplans and thinks everything out in detail, so against teams who he thinks he can't beat them at football with what he has and what they have and who he thinks are vlunerable to certain tactics you'll see the long balls, physical stuff and set piece orientated play.

Against teams he thinks he can beat you'll see a bit more football on the deck and less launching it. Give him our resources and money and he'd be playign his football accordingly but also with the added advantage we'd have a manager with plans B and C instead of Souness who hasn't achieved plan A yet.

And in every aspect away from the pitch Allardyce destroys Souness in how much better he is and how much he'd improve our club.

Quite right and if you look at his team selections in these type of matches it is obvious.

Everytime he looks to play the strong arm tactics Jay-Jay Okocha is benched, when they want to play football he starts.

The other thing about big Sam is you never see his players go to the media and talk about how they want to move on because they are no longer in the starting 11. Man management, can you imagine having a manager that understands the concept?
