I think its only backed by theory tbf Tooj. An interesting and coherent theory but i dont think medical opinion says anything other than that. There is scientific theory and data behind reduced IGF-1 but these are not proven according to anyone. As a side note, i worked on an IGF-1 inhibitor for non-small cell lung cancer when i was at Pfizer. Didnt work.

Most people check out on Morphine. If they die in hospital anyway.

I made a comment using the same perspective about getting to the end of life and being concerned about these things a couple of weeks back. It must have just made its way in to your head subconsciously. There is no protesting so dont make things up and if i start a thread its probably not about you so dont be vain. I have some beautiful lentils done in goose fat in the cupboard. For carrot juice tips, see JawD.

So i'm thinking the reason he smiled was because you didnt grasp what was going on. Very little of that post makes any sense. Your pension advisor was clearly trying to guage how much pension you will need, the answer you gave him was 'more income than i have today'. In your overview of your life and satisfaction (which is great) you dont make it clear how you are preparing for your retirement and how this lackadaisical attitude to work will mean that you wont into category 2 of your 'over 60s'? Maybe you werent clear but i would be interested in whether you actually have a coherent view here. Did you save a lot of money already? I also assume you are implying that you dont need a good pension as you wont live that long. Not sure thats what you meant but its how it reads. Sorry to be snooty but traversing the highways and byways of the UK motorway system isnt 'high powered' either. Not to me anyway.

Q: You've been very passionate here today. You seem to be suggesting that you don't get the respect you deserve? Any theories about why?

Have you ever said to a German sausage merchant 'do your wurst'?

Surprised not to see 'going to the gym more and looking ripped to the tits'

How do you play 'gay chicken'?
-
Sounds like it should be a euphemism but clearly isnt.
-
One very awkward moment in my life was telling a mate who had just told me he was gay a story that really did require the line 'so fucking gay of him' then realising what i'd just said and then thinking that clearly he knows i'm ok with him being gay so he wont take that the wrong way but really badly worrying anyway. Then i just thought i needed to stop being so gay about it and not to worry.

Did any of the insomniacs ever hallucinate due to lack of sleep?

There are a few candidates.

I reckon it can still be done when you get older its just the recovery that's fucked up. Last time was when I was 36, I didn't go all the way through as i slept a bit on Saturday night / Sunday morning but I went from Friday morning to Monday afternoon with just 4 hours kip on the Sunday morning. All thanks to Talking Heads, Thai ecstasy, Balloons and Ketamine. The mate I was with is a year or two younger than me and veers between being exactly like Dr G on here telling everyone about how much gym work he does and kale he is eating to going on 3 day benders. He goes to that Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert every year and doesn't sleep for about a week.

JawD logged on at 5am when he was juicing his carrots and putting on his leg-warmers but failed to clarify the colonic situation. Just sayin.
-
Getting into weird territory there Dave. I reckon at least one person on here has had a colonic. My odds are: JawD - Evens Dr G - Evens LBT - 2/1 Jill - 3/1 Gemmill - 3/1 Meenz - 3/1 CT - 4/1 (advised by his GP to get a colonoscopy which he ignored and got a colonic instead after googling it) Tooj - 5/1 (seeking out alternative remedies for his documented back problems) Parky - 6/1 (outside chance, odds not that long though)
-
Meenz gave Gemmill a colonic? I dont know how these scurrilous rumours get started.
-
26 isnt too old, i was around 30 when i went the longest without sleep.
-
Anyone on here had a colonic? I bet Gemmill has.

Another man's spaff is definitely not ok.

I spend more time on my beard than my hair. That's just a practical thing due to actual amounts of hair though

Its cultural iyam so i reckon its happening to all ages, just to different extents. I doubt me old man will be mincing round Waitrose with a calorie app and a copy of the River Cottage cookbook any time soon but even his attitudes are changing.
