  1. I get that that's what some promoted clubs do (out of necessity) but I don't think Rafa would be prepared to gamble with some of this dross and pin hopes on team spirit. He'll be looking to kick on quickly if we go up

I assume he is also banking on the fact that some of the players won't be good enough. I think he sees the players brought in as all having potential to play at this level and the next but that not all of them will show that. The two central defenders are probably a good example where if we do go up, the better one will be kept and the other one let go.

  2. We'll need a similar overhaul if we go up. An expensive one as well

Not necessarily, if you look at some of the promoted clubs, the model they seem to follow is building a solid team and then adding quality where it's needed rather than overhauling their sides with loads of new players. The priority is to get promoted and if we do that, a strong team spirit should emerge like last time we got promoted. Some of the players we have should also develop into better players and buying a lot now gives the manager more chances to develop the sort of player we would need.

  3. Anyone here have their kids' names tattooed on them? If so then why are you such an idiot?

 To be fair, it must be one of the least regretted tattoos to have.

Disclaimer: I don't have any tattoos or plan to get any.

  4. I've got a column that records if a predicted result is accurate.

Should the lad who gets a point for his 5-1 prediction of a 0-1 loss be penalised? Maybe a 1/2 mark off? Dead easy to do things like this, at this stage.

Extra point right result, another for correct score. E.g you predict 3-1 and its 2-1, you get point for away goal and point for result. You then get 4 points for correct score and possibly either 1 or 2 points for result and / or one team's goal tally. Don't think 3 points would be possible.

  5. Never had much luck getting SS1 to work in Phoenix. It's not bad for games streams using that Indian plug in but usually shite for me. Films and TV are good on there though.

  6. Firesticks pre loaded are a massive seller in the uk. Basically it's blokes just buying them, adding the software and flogging them on for £50-£60 quid.

They are 'post loaded' then ;)

  7. PL, the Fife sticks aren't pre loaded, the android tv boxes are.

Wykiki, you should go to 'update addons' in system preferences first and make sure they are all up to date. As Phoenix is updated regularly then it will certainly be out of date and auto updates don't run themselves all the time. If it out of date, it won't work.

CT, Fusion is the name of the repo of the group called TV Addons, they have an installer and a build on offer which are all found in the fusion repository.

  8. I must have imagined all those past posts you made extolling the virtues of Apple over anything else then?

Anyway, why are you bothered about Kodi? Is it really worth the fuck on or would it not just make sense to buy the media you use for a man of your means? Nowt to do with morality I might add, just convenience. I've tried Kodi and decided its not worth the hassle personally. Admittedly I don't have time to use much media mind.

As a work phone the 6 is brilliant and is totally secure which is important when you carry around sensitive info. Same for the iPad, I designed and built (no actual technical work) an app for my company last year and it's a super simple business model and platform for the end user. This is only really feasible in a business like ours with the iPad and it's security. The debate around the company is driven by the long and short position holders which I can't be arsed to go into but I think there are very strong reasons to remain long. Hence a support for the view that the company is and remains innovative. As someone who works in the interface between small and mid cap biotech, my definition of what innovation means is probably different to the average bloke in the street.

As for Kodi, it's the single greatest thing you can plug into your TV. The football is however not that great in my experience but I don't do anything other than search the standard addons 1 minute before the same starts. I think if you look into it and ask people it can work well. If you love films then Kodi is amazing for basically anything you want to watch. It also gives you access to loads of TV that you wouldn't otherwise get with Netflix / Sky.

  9. Imo 16 gigs is too small if you want to do anything with the phone other than make phone calls. Really though, it's stupid money for what you're getting, Iphone's are technologically a fair bit behind nowadays. I can see the attraction if you're like Chez and heavily invested in a pile of Mac stuff like tablets, laptops etc and want the compatibility. Otherwise get an Android imo.

 Er, no. I am probably the least invested in tech devices as i get given most of them. I also spend more time in the windows 7 environment than anything else.

Laptop PC, Iphone 6 and Ipad air were all free from work. I have 2 TV boxes, an Apple TV that cost  80 euros (still the best device for Netfilx) and an Android Box that was about 50 euros (for Kodi). I still have a 9 year old Macbook which was expensive at 800 euros (still works but i dont use it anymore other than to store photos). That's fuck all in terms of investment.

The only thing that i miss is a personal phone or tablet that i can load Kodi onto. Which i still need to get and am going to be tight about it and get something relatively cheap. I am therefore definitely going to get an Android phone, just dont know which one.

  10. Most decent hotels have TVs with available HDMI connectors nowadays.

FYI - Radisson hotels now have wireless streaming for all android / apple devices. So you can use the eg Netflix app on your device and steam to the hotel TV. I expect this to be industry standard in all the big chains within a year or two. You can therefore I assume stream Kodi if it's on the device too.

  11. 1-1 , And I wouldnt be disappointed with that.

Same. Confident for the season overall given what we have done over the summer but expecting a large victory away from home first game of the season makes very little sense. Good time to play the better teams usually and we have a lot of new players, essentially a new manager and a new league. Cautious optimism is the only rational position.

  12. I've been having bother with my internet dropping out now and then and have been pissed off going back and forth with BT. They even sent an engineer round after all my complaints. He said there's nothing wrong at my end, I said I know, it's the fucking line dropping off. Still complaining and getting nowhere so I managed to hunt down the chief executive's e-mail and sent him a canny yarn. He replied back apologising and said he'd sort it. Just had another email from their executive level complaints team saying they are taking ownership of the problem and could I please not contact 'other BT depts' as this might 'confuse' people.

I think they don't want me talking to their chief exec anymore.

Nice work, guarantees a response that sort of shit. I had problems with my wi-fi just on the laptop when i was connected to the VPN at work. I looked into it and apparently the old boxes have a poorer wi-fi signal and cause the signal to go weak which prompted my VPN to kick me out. The only way to re-connect to my email account was to re-boot the PC.

Anyway, just had my new fibre optic 1GB internet box installed this morning. The technician reckons its unlikely to hit more than 800mb but still should be good. Just got to wait at least 24 hours for someone to turn a switch on somewhere.
