Nice post Chez. With regard to the negativity you can't discount youth and image. Quite normal for the forums 20 somethings to be all macho and on about knocking back doors in while forum "hard men" have to drop the jokes in while at the same time glued to the whe proceedings with watery eyes. No other country in the world can put an event like this on. -

Having done jobs this morning to Newcastle, Shields and Sunderland I can confirm that even for a bank holiday, the roads are deserted. Lots of closet royalists, me thinks. -

Tell you what though, with all the enemies this country's made in the last few years I wouldn't like to be bobbing along in an open top coach infront of an audience of billions. Just takes one loon with a strap on. -

Well, very exciting times in the CT household. Party foods in, party drinks in, bunting about to go up and guests will be arriving shortly. Only rules are you need to be 7 or under and wearing a princess dress. -

Andy Carroll....Local Hero! O̶r̶ ̶J̶u̶d̶a̶s̶?

AC is a young professional footballer who did what any sane human being would have done in his position, so he’ll probably get booed by our increasingly narcissistic away support. I like Andy Carroll. He played fantastic football for us, helped us up the league and ended up bringing us an astronomical amount of money. No one could possibly say that he hasn't done an incredible amount for Newcastle. But I don't see why you have to be insane to say 'no, 20,000 a week will be enough for me. I don't need more money, if it means leaving Newcastle.' So do you leave your wife for a younger fitter model? TBH, I have no problem with footballers moving on, but when your a local lad, raised through the ranks and pledge your arse to the cause, 2 months earlier.......I think you must be a bit of twat to up sticks on the last day of the transfer window. And yes I appreciate the club might have wanted the money, but he or his agent, could have easily said no thanks and that would have been that. -

The question was how you feel he will be treated by the masses. My own opinion is Im unsure. -
One down, one to go.

When he plays against us, will he get a hero's welcome or be treated like Judas, by the masses.

Gemmill code for "ok, wish Id gone with CT".

First of all, IMO "Kid Friendly" is a state of mind. If your paying good money then the staff need to suck it up and get on with it. Regarding the AA, lots of high chairs available and a big fuss made of our kids. Kids beer garden / activity centre out the back and over the bridge, a public footpath along the riverbank. Also only five mile outside of Rothbury, the Raul Moat tour and the river which is walkable across. I would go for it.

Highly highly reccommend the Angler arms, just off the A1 at wheldon bridge. About 12 miles ? short of alnwick but as its nearly 12 now, you could feast on the way up. http://www.anglersarms.com/ (Might be a bit above your station but you could always sit in the bar).

I worked on 42nd street regularly for 2 years as my boss/company HQ was based there. I used to stay in the W on Lexington and walk to work. Amazing energy and so different to travelling to work in London (or Paris). Its mainly the impact of the environment on you, the enormity of the architecture, the slickness of the design, the people, the bars, the shops, the restaurants, the women, the craziness of life lived as fast as life is lived on the planet. Manhattan is for youngish people though, everyone goes out after work too, i think everyone moves to Brooklyn when they have kids. My best mate got married in Central Park, he lived there for 6 months building up contacts in the music industry. We've had some legendary weekends but the one where we both played in this club near NYU and ended up in a ketamine party in a loft in Tribeca was pretty classic. The same weekend i pulled an Italian bird who loved it in the wrongun (catholic). The possibilities there are literally endless and yanks are quite odd when it comes to meeting people, if you've had an introduction you are welcome to hang out. Agree with all that, it a pretty unique place. Worked in NYC for 2 years when I was 23/24. Lived on 50th and 9th and worked on 42nd and 7th. Each day was a massive experience, I got a buzz as soon as I left the apartment. Was single when I was over there so had a belting time. I'd say it's more a place to experience rather to go sightseeing as I can't really put my finger on what made it so great for me. I go back once or twice a year and I'm giddy every time I land. That said, 2 years was enough for me. Far prefer the pace of life and outlook of the people in European cities but, for a short trip, nothing beats it. Same here. I can totally understand the appeal of working their, particularly in your youth, just dont get the holiday aspect. Each to their own.

Wish we'd had them this season. I'm assuming thats another windup. Not at all. I would rather had started each of the last 10 games with those two up front than Shola and Lovenkrands.
