  1. 100% YES. We shouldn’t tax people to keep warm.
  2. Will the vote go ahead? Cabinet advised a special conference call will take place in next 15 mins.
  3. Well that’s really upto any future Labour or Conservative Government. They would have the freedom to do what they thought was right. EG reducing VAT to 0 on domestic fuel.
  4. I don’t think this is quite what you think. According to Carole codwhallop, they have retweeted a few anti labour and anti Tory stories.
  5. I wait for a genuine hard left politician to convince me otherwise, but socialism is like a pair of flares. Every 30 years the younger generation forgets what an absolute disaster they are and they become hip for a little while.
  6. I get the impression you are more guided by the headline fairytale stuff that comes out of Corbyn etc. Pull back the curtain and read some of the stuff from the younger proper hard left ( @graceblekeley ) and it’s a much different picture. TBF, A lot of what she says makes good sense, but at least she’s honest. EG Adamant that the only way a socialist government can truly succeed is outside the EU. ( Corbyns view to if only he had the integrity to say so).
  7. Because the government’s we elect can then have full autonomy to do whatever they like in the country’s interests whether that’s state aid, vat rates, tarrifs etc.
  8. Do you actually understand what hard left is? It’s usually trying to squeeze too much out of business (kills business) and borrowing beyond the country’s means (bankrupts country). Two old Marxists promising the younger generation an end to all our woes by re-nationalising a few things and giving middle class kids a free trip to university (paid for by working class) is laughable. You can complain about our country but as a whole, we’ve done pretty well since the 50’s in so many areas of society. This has mostly been achieved by centrists governments. Sure we still have issues in society but overall we are punching above our weight for a tiny island. I will quite happily vote for any government that comes out with realistic policies to make us better, but yesterdays policies paid for on credit will never make us better.
  9. Only centrists can ever run the country well. It’s about making sensible realistic policy decisions using a very limited pot of money and an ever increasing set of demands. To far right and it’s dog eat dog, too far left and it’s unicorn world. The vast majority of MP’s on all sides understand this to be true.
  10. You’ve been listening to Alistair Campbell too much. Labours own internal polling has them shitting themselves about losing the next election if they come out for a vote. Also John Curtis has put to bed the “myth” that there’s been any significant change in voting intentions. Ideally Labour just need to sit back and see what happens over the next month and see if the Tories commit to a vote first.
  11. He has little choice really if he wants to keep his membership and core voters onside.
  12. Hes basically just doing what the men in the shadows are telling him to do. As much as I dislike the way Labour are playing this, it’s definitely the right play when an election could materialise at any minute.
  13. I didn’t say it was, I was taking stock of where we were at the time and what the out look was. Paddock lad said at the same time “We can challenge for the top 4 regularly if Graham Carr keeps on delvering the goods player wise. Am happy enough with that”, Gloom said “If FFP does indeed level the playing field then Ashley might come out of it looking better than he does now.” Kid Dynamite said “ The top 5 finish last year and a 1/4 final place in Europe, £8mil profit over the last few years with another profit to be announced this week. A lot of things are going right atm.” Anyway, I’m out, stop dragging me in!!! I’m still not over Shane
  14. Far to depressing. I still watch every game but the minute the final whistle goes I’m done. When hope returns, my cunninginsight might.
  15. Nice selective cut and pasting :lol; Relatively speaking it was a positive period back then following the turmoil since 2008 and we looked to be finding a way that would work. It was basically a question whether it would or not. Sadly it turned to shit.
  16. Not quite sure how a referendum can sort it. If her deal gets thrashed, then surely most MP’s will not allow her to put that deal as an option on the ballot.
  17. Well tbf, I did say many many months ago that Labour was responsible for this shit show by playing politics and not supporting the original will of the people, then will of Parliament. They stood at last years election with leaving the single market, leaving the CU and doing trade deals. Since then they have played politics. Unless you of course believe the spin that Corbin can somehow negotiate this magical deal he talks about?
  18. Full EU withdrawal (without a referendum) was in Labours manifesto in 83. Brown and Blair wanted to join the single currency during their time but were terrified of putting it in the manifesto because it may lose them the election. This is why they came up with their 5 tests. Trying to say the country has not had a growing problem with the EU for the last 4 decades is just ignorant. It was always only a matter of time, particularly given Labours many false promises to hold a referendum during their 13 years in government.
  19. Try and re-write history as much as you like if it makes you feel better. All political parties promised the public a referendum from the early 2000’s onwards. At least Cameron eventually put it in his manifesto and was elected on it. He then put it to Parliament and virtually every member voted for it.
  20. Wrong as usual The was mass public outcry at Labours plans to join the Euro and constant public / media upset with the EU. The Tories mainly wanted a referendum on the Lisbon treaty that Labour constantly promised to appease public concern. It was however Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrat’s who were pushing for the full monty refferendum
  21. So why quote Blair from 2004 if you have no idea of the context? Trying to be a smart arse and caught out.
  22. As one Tory to another I’m offended. You were praising Mays deal a few weeks ago.
  23. Stop trying to be clever, it doesn’t become you. Blair said that 3 years before the Lisbon treaty was signed and didn’t follow through.
