Not sure that’s strictly correct. I think the government is portioning the procedural committee first and will set out further plans tomorrow. Basically a political stunt by Labour and a vote the government would have easily won had the DUP not been in a huff. As this relates to Brexit, the legal stuff of importance is all out there. In reality it’s stupid that the government should release legal advice on what the negotiating strategy should be next and what are considered weak points of the EU’s future position in the negogiations. A precedent on publishing full legal advice has been set and will come back to bite a future Labour government.
-
Imo we would then be looking at renegotiating towards labours 6 tests. (Unicorns). Most likely will end up at Norway plus’ish.
-
You may want to wait The Tories are putting down an amendment today which could properly kill no deal.

He has a magnificent voice.

Well, if we go into the backstop we will be... in the customs union full access access to single market out of ecj out of fishing out of agriculture AND NOT PAYING THE EU ANY FEES. Definiley not a situation the EU would want for long.
-
It might not. Some are very thick, some are just point scoring and some are too ideological. All Im basically saying is he put up a very good legalistic argument for the deal and in a number of cases, MP’s who had asked challenging questions, nodded in agreement to his answers.
-
That really depends on what you know Basically a very good watch if you get the chance. Pretty convincing on how the backstop would be much worse for the EU than us.

He’ll be changing MP’s minds. Whether enough?

The attorney general on his feet in Parliament right now. Outstanding performance.

Labours fortunes only really changed in the days after the “moneytree” manifesto leaked. A similar manifesto without Corbyn / McDonnel and they could romp home.

Alas it was a combination of my birthday and daughters graduation on Friday so still recovering and unable to face alcohol at the minute. Normal service will be resumed.

Sorry, was down in the cellar getting a nice Chilean Merlot.

If it gives you any comfort, if it comes to a 2nd refferendum I would vote remain. (Naturally I still would prefer Brexit to be implemented properly, but that seems unlikely now).

Hey, I’ve said from day one I’m only onboard as long as it can be made to work without much disruption, but no, only a fool would believe this coordinated project fear mk 2. As for the money, a few billion here or there doesn’t really effect the average man in the street and as I said earlier, who is in power could have much more impact on GDP in 15 years than which Brexit path we take.
-
On the same day as the treasury. Not a coordinated project fear at all As Gordon Browns man on the BoE MPC says.
-
No thanks. We’ve had 2 years of this so pretty much know all the various arguments for and against Brexit. The bottom line is nobody has a clue what the actual financial position will be in 15 years time. The guy from the FT and most serious financial professionals have said this. For example, this sort of analysis takes no measure of whether there’s another crash, a eurozone meltdown, the effects of AI etc etc. More importantly, who is in government over that period will have much more of an impact of GDP in 15 years time than Brexit. Brexit is all about being a sovereign country once again with full control of our money, laws, fishing, who we want to trade with etc.

I think Mays toast, the brexiteers haven’t got the votes and this is exactly what Hammond / Rudd / Hands and the majority of Parliament is shooting for!
-
Of course they are man. It’s the same old remain treasury once again hoping that they can scare everyone into a 2nd refferendum / staying in.
-
I just did. Seriously, why on earth would you give this any credence given how wrong it was last time?
-
I voted leave for many reasons (listed clearly 2 days after Brexit). As for the latest analysis, I treat it with the same scorn as last time (When they said there would be a crash and a massive surge in unemployment). Surely you’re not falling for them again
