1. Nooo TL, dont let anybody's experience put you off, yes i had a very long and difficult time, but all was well in the end, plus that was over 20 years ago, things have changed now. It was typical me, im bloody awkward anyway!!
2. Can't speak from having my own, but I've seen some mothers have babies and you can see that "thing" happen instantly. It's equally as marked in fathers actually and the biggest, toughest hard man turn into mush. Then again there are other times when the mother barely gives the child a second glance and it's a very strange feeling being an observer to it. I'm covering maternity at work tonight actually so I shall let you know what kind of reactions we get should there be any caesarians... Dan - working in maternity can put you off a bit but then it's an absolute privilege to be present when a baby is born and for the most part it's absolutely amazing. It can also be very poignant to see the emotion of it all and wonder whether it's ever something I'll experience. 163474 I have one son, he's 22 now, i had him very young, ( met hubby when i was 15) Like Jimbo says its hard to put into words what you feel. For me it wasnt instant love, i had a complicated birth ending up in an emergency caesarian, i was pretty out of it after so long in labour, i did have an epidural but in the end i was put to sleep for the birth anyway. So by the time i was handed my baby hours later i didnt feel much...i even wondered if they'd given me the right one! Infact it was hard to feel that 'bond' for awhile...i think i felt numb, i was young (just 18) i wasnt that well either and i was very tired. I just felt relief it was over. I think when you have a caesar it is harder to bond, especially if you werent awake for the birth. I've never been a maternal 'baby' type of woman. Anyhow, eventually i felt that bond, hard to describe, except to say you feel everything for your child, its like nothing ever before, a totally different love to what you feel for partners and family i think. I felt (and still feel) so protective for my son. If they hurt, you hurt. It's also a very scarey feeling looking down at your baby knowing you are totally responsible for another person. I never had any more children, i think my own experience of labour and birth put me off...then it got too late, as i'd have wanted two quite close together. My son and i are very close, having a baby young may have its drawbacks, it wasnt easy but then again im young(ish) now, so we are good friends and i can relate to him.
3. A year? Anyway, thanks everyone, i have tried a few toon forums over the years but though it took a while, at last i feel i've finally settled on just this one now. I dont really look at any others. Thanks admin, mods and you folk in general for helping me waste hours of my time!! Thats it, suck up time over now
4. Very decent bloke, i hope it goes well for him, bet Incey is gutted though. Im just glad Mick has a job now, anything that keeps his droning boring voice off football commentary is fine by me

6. Congrats wacky, is it your first child?
7. you talking about Geldoff or Brand? 162749 oopps sorry Brand. I used to fancy Geldof years ago!! 162751 That probably explains how you can possibly think that Brand is even "ok" looking. The lad is grotesque. Honestly when he was on BBBM I used to watch and think "Christ this lad is REALLY ugly". Now all of a sudden he's some sort of ladies' man. How did that happen?? 162776 when i say 'ok' i mean nondescript (sp)..i dislike him so much i really cant see it. I didnt even know he was a ladies man I mean...how could he be? he's not even a ginner 162790 The one and only thing he has in common with me. 162799
8. chasing cars-snow patrol Sigur Ros-Takk (ive noticed radio 5live are using a sigur ros track in the background for the Golf championship intro at the mo)

11. Very nice SO. we've just got a 'new' car, well not new but new to us!! Its a few years old, a Renualt Laguna, really good nick, our mate owns a garage so we only paid £300 for it! Bargain I really like it, its quiet, smooth and very comfortable Anyway, last night we were in some busy lanes at a T junction when the woman in front of us driving her huge people carrier thingy, decided she was stuck too far out in the road and reversed back into us Luckily no damage as our bumper sticks out quite a way, what was funny though was hubby couldnt find the horn in the heat of the moment as its not where the old one was, so ended up thumping the airbag and shouting obsenities out the window instead
12. I cant stand him, he's so annoying, cant even think of his looks as i cant get past the fact he's such a twat with a very big opinion of himself, he's full of self importance. If he didnt dress so stupidly, kept his big gob shut and had a shave he'd probably be ok looking i suppose.
13. The retro look is good but definitely not GOLA !!! 162312 yeah i remember anyone wearing Gola got the piss taken out of them, i like the retro style though, i'll have to find some in a decent make.
14. I would say no but then Dunlop/Gola were uncool when I was a kid and its stuck with me ever since. They seem to have some retro appeal to others though..me.. they were shit then and they're shit now 162314 yeah my thoughts really, i know the retro look is in though...i liked those cos they have orange on them (match our race shirts)
15. i quite like men in those chunky leather sandals. Can you lot tell me if these are cool now or naff? Being Gola im not sure i'd like to buy them for my son, but for all i know they could be really naff! http://www.asos.com/Gola-Harrier-Trainer/P...=72098&cid=2645
16. http://www.asos.com/Havaianas-Flip-Flop/Pr...=66826&cid=1935 how do you guys feel about wearing flip flops then? (not to a wedding of course)!
17. those are EXACTLY the style of shoe hubby took the piss out of!! Said they looked like his dad used to wear years ago! Zico, unles you're a young trendy pup, i'd go for something plainish, a soft mule type is more classical and smart. 162271 They ARE what my Dad wears now! All that crimp-edged leather looks fucking awful to me! 162280

Zico, unles you're a young trendy pup, i'd go for something plainish, a soft mule type is more classical and smart. 162271 Yer hubby is one seriously uncool cat, if he thinks my shoes are uncool. 162276 yup He's too old for trendy stuff, when you get a certain age (and size) it looks fooking daft!! Classical is the all important word!!

Zico, unles you're a young trendy pup, i'd go for something plainish, a soft mule type is more classical and smart. 162271 god i wish i knew what a soft mule is i'll have to ask an assistant in the shops - think I'll take this email with me 162273 i am cooking (burning) the dinner at the moment, but i'll find a pic in abit of what i mean zico!

21. this wont help you at all but we recently went to a wedding and my hubby needed new shoes...the 'smart' ones he had were years old and so old fashioned that i threw them away (much to his disgust) So off we went shopping to Brantano, (easy to get to and park, involving no walking up a packed shopping centre you see)!! ... he refused to go look in shops in town, saying he would only wear them for weddings or funerals and so there was no need for fuss plus he resented having to shell out on new ones that would kill his feet and hardly be worn, i suppose he was right really! Anyway we get in there and hubby stands looking in absolute horror at the 'trendy' shoes on offer!! i could not stop laughing "pointed toes?" he asks!! There was no way on earth he'd wear half of them, fashionable or not! In the end we found a pair of soft leather lace up shoes, sort of non descript really, but smart enough with black trousers, cost £40, which were prety cheap compared to others....wont see them again untill someone dies, gets married or christened!! 162242 yeah but Brantano arent exactly cheap for a pair of shoes I'll hardly wear. So is the consensus from the rest of the group that soft slip ons are the way forward? i havnt worn a pair of loafers for years! lol dont think they're exactly me like I know Im gonna have to do a bit of browsing tonight after work but I'm sure I'll end up like toonraider's dad 162249 well yes, i suppose i do look way younger than hubby come to think of it!!! Yeah £40 seemed alot for something he didnt want, but then it saved him having to 'shop' which he refuses to do point blank Why does 'slips ons' sound really old fashioned anyway?
