  1. I'd meet him for talks and form an opinion of him of my own instead of what the daily mirror tells me he's like...

  3. United rule out move for Owen By Mihir Bose and William Johnson (Filed: 02/08/2005) Manchester United have no plans to sign Michael Owen from Real Madrid, well-informed sources close to Old Trafford have told The Daily Telegraph. Despite fevered speculation that a deal to link up Owen with Wayne Rooney was inevitable, United have joined Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in ruling out a move for the unwanted England striker. No takers: Michael Owen is facing up to more time on the bench Speculation that United might make a move for Owen heightened at the weekend following comments by chief executive David Gill that if Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to buy a leading player then the money was available. That was interpreted as a green light for United to buy Owen, but sources close to the club say it was a general statement indicating that the new owners, the Glazer family, had not put a block on spending. Owen clearly wants to move from Madrid. He has not established any long-term roots in the city, does not speak the language and the arrival of two new Brazilians, Julio Baptista and Robinho, means he could now be the fifth-choice striker at Real, a long way behind the front runners, Raul and Ronaldo. Last season Owen made only 26 starts, coming on as substitute in 19 other matches, and scoring a total of 16 goals. With the World Cup coming up he needs to be sure of a more regular place. Even before the end of last season, approaches were made on Owen's behalf to English clubs about a possible move and Chelsea were one of the clubs sounded out but showed no interest. Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is an admirer but has said he does not consider signing Owen a priority and, in any case, might not be able to afford him. While Real might sell Owen for around £10 million, providing them with a £2 million profit on what they paid Liverpool last season, there are Owen's considerable wages, which are believed to be near £5 million a year, to be taken into account. Such an outlay would be a deterrent to any English club, even United where it could upset the wage structure and cause complications in the ongoing efforts to persuade Rio Ferdinand to extend his present contract, which runs out in two years' time. There has been talk that if no English club are interested in Owen on a permanent basis then the only possibility of a return to the Premiership would be a loan to Liverpool. Yet this, too, seems unlikely and Rafael Benitez, the manager, last night declared he had no intention of exploiting his club's option to re-sign their former striker. ....................................................................................................................... Running out of options now it seems...
  4. He joined with the label of being the 'new Zidane' however he hasn't lived up to the hype. On par with Bellion talent wise IMO.

  6. Two named in student murder hunt Family's appeal Police hunting the killers of black teenager Anthony Walker have named two people they want to trace. One of the men is 19-year-old Michael Barton, the brother of Manchester City footballer Joey Barton. Michael Barton and Paul Taylor, both aged 19 and from Huyton, in Merseyside, may have left the UK, detectives said. Mr Walker, 18, was attacked with an axe by a gang of up to four white men in Huyton on Friday in what police said was a racially motivated incident. A 17-year-old was still being questioned on Monday. A man, aged 18, arrested on Sunday, has been released on bail. 'Will not rest' Det Ch Supt Peter Currie, of Merseyside Police, said the attack was "despicable and abhorrent". He said he was very pleased with the public response, with the force having received more than 50 calls about the murder. Mr Currie added: "I would urge anyone else who has information but hasn't yet made that call, please pick up the phone and tell us what you know. "I would like to reassure the community that we will not rest until those responsible for taking Anthony Walker's life are brought before the courts." Joey Barton is a footballer for Manchester City Mr Walker was beaten up weeks earlier, but his family did not report it as he was with a white friend at the time and they did not consider it racially motivated, Merseyside Police said. Comparisons between the attack and the murder of Stephen Lawrence were dismissed Local MP Edward O'Hara, the Labour MP for Knowsley South, said there were important differences between Mr Walker's killing and the murder of Mr Lawrence in Eltham, south-east London in 1993. He said: "There is a certain surface comparison but this act was random, exceptional and representative of absolutely nothing." Mr O'Hara said it was a racist attack but "entirely untypical of the community in which it happened". 'Talk to them' Mr Walker's mother Gee has said her son was killed "purely because of the colour of his skin". The dead man's sister Dominique, 20, appealed for people to help catch the gang who attacked her brother in McGoldrick Park on Friday night. "If anybody knows anything, they have got to talk to the police," she said. "Talk to them because we need the information. I need to find out who did this to my brother." Mr Walker had spent the evening with his white girlfriend before the attack. Floral tributes have been left at the scene of the attack As they waited for a bus outside the Huyton Park pub with his 17-year-old cousin they were subjected to a "torrent of racial abuse" by a man in his 20s wearing a hooded top. They did not retaliate and left to find another bus stop, but were followed and, as they walked through a park, were attacked by a gang of up to four men. Mr Walker's girlfriend and cousin ran to get help. When they returned Anthony was slumped on the ground with massive head injuries. An axe was found embedded in his skull. A book of condolence was due to be opened at Mr Walker's local church, the Grace Family Church, in Aigburth, on Tuesday.
  7. Did anyone see on the news about the murder of Anthony Walker, the coloured lad who was killed in a racist attack in Liverpool? Well it appears Michael Barton, brother of Man City toughguy Joey Barton has fled the country and is wanted in relation to the murder. Barton, and another man are wanted for driving an axe into the head of the man Family full of fucking pricks
  8. Peru naughty boy SOCCER star Nobby Solano has been caught out leading a double life...after he got his wife AND his secret mistress pregnant at the same time. The £15,000-a-week Aston Villa winger's cheating only came to light when his girlfriend Emma Hall, 29, rang him two months after conceiving his child and left a message on his mobile phone - which was picked up by his wife Claudia. Claudia, 29, returned the call - and revealed that she too was pregnant with just two months left to go. The two women then joined forces to confront Peruvian Nobby, 31. Emma says: "I had a call from a woman who said, 'Who is this?' I said, 'This is Emma, Nobby's girlfriend'. The woman said, 'Well, I'm Nobby's wife Claudia and I'm seven months pregnant'. "I was stunned. How could she be pregnant if they were estranged like he'd told me? I told her I'd been with Nobby for a year and that he told me they had split up, but it was plainly all news to her. "Later that night Claudia rang me while she was with Nobby and said, 'Emma, tell him what you told me'. I did, and then I asked him, 'Your wife's in front of you. Is she pregnant or not?' He just kept shouting to Claudia to put the phone down." Emma ended the relationship and thought that would be the last she ever heard from Nobby, but just a few weeks ago he was begging her to take him back - even as his wife nursed their now four-month-old baby daughter Lu Ana. He texted her in broken English saying: "I am still miss you so much. I know is not easy 4 you but all the time remember especial when you are horny." Disgusted Emma says: "I thought we would get married and be together forever. "He met my family, I met his. It breaks my heart that he was able to lie and lie again to me and to my family. Now he wants to get back together with me - he must think I'm mad." Emma, who lives in Newcastle, first met Nobby at a friend's party in January last year when he played for Newcastle United. "He told me he was a trumpet-player and said he had an estranged wife and a baby son called Mathias, who he loved very much," says Emma. "I thought he was charming and sweet and we swapped numbers. He started texting me straight away and we regularly met up at his favourite salsa bar, The Vineyard, in town." At the time Nobby was as famous as David Beckham in his home country, with his face appearing on stamps and in TV adverts. His marriage to architect Claudia in 1998 was screened live on TV. He came to Newcastle United in 1998 at the age of 24. Claudia split her time between Newcastle and London, where she was studying and looking after their two-year-old son. After dating Emma for two weeks Nobby - real name Nolberto - told her that he was really a footballer and asked her to go to Barcelona for a week where he was due to play in an international match. Emma says: "He paid for my friend to come with me. He put us up in a nice hotel, paid for all our food and gave us spending money." Soon after they returned, Nobby had a £2million transfer to Aston Villa and moved into a rented townhouse in Sutton Coldfield. Emma says: "He invited me down and I ended up staying for two months. We first slept together six weeks after we met. He pretty much kept me - paying for everything." She says he even picked up the bar tab of several thousand pounds at her 28th birthday party at The Vineyard. "All the time I was with him he complained about his wife, and that he just wanted to see his son. Claudia was spending all her time in London as a student and I believed they had split. But at the same time, he was getting her pregnant again. "He bought a five-bedroom house in Sutton Coldfield where I stayed with him, and he had another just like it in Newcastle. He would also stay with my mum in Northampton for weeks at a time. She was going through a divorce and he was very supportive to her. "It hurts me now to realise at the same time he was providing her with a shoulder to cry on he was cheating on his own wife. Nobby would say to me and my mum that eventually he would marry me and take me to Peru. "I met his baby son, and for a few months over the summer I lived with his nephew in Newcastle. His brothers, who met my family and friends, never gave us a hint that he was still with his wife." The pair began arguing when Nobby started spending more time training or at away matches. "I only saw him a couple of days a week and I was unhappy about it," says Emma. She says she fell pregnant while on antibiotics which reduced the effect of the contraceptive pill. "When I told Nobby, he said, 'I'm a Roman Catholic so I don't want to have a baby out of wedlock'. He paid for me to have an abortion at a private clinic." Emma says she was very depressed afterwards and she argued with Nobby at a party when he told her: "You'll get over it. I'll buy you a nice Christmas present." Emma says: "I couldn't believe he could be so callous. The next day I rang and left a message on his mobile saying I wanted to talk to him about the abortion." That was when Claudia rang back, and revealed she was his pregnant wife. "I want the world to know he's not the hero he's made out to be," says Emma. "He's sly and cunning. I'd warn any other girls to give Nobby a wide berth." His agent Tony Henry says: "Nobby says this relationship is now over and he wants nothing more to do with this girl."
  9. I wouldn't at all be surprised if FS hasn't signed anyone yet just to have saved on there wages for a few more weeks! I know it sounds crazy but last season we were linked with Carr from the end of the previous season but we didn't actually sign him until the end of the summer, even though it was made clear we wanted him and he wanted to come here.
  10. Diouf is an entertaining man, I'll give him that.
