my dad in law was on the phone yesterday as he's bought new pc from Dell which he had planned to stick his old hard drive and DVDRW drives into. He says he cant do it and by the sounds of the noises he was making the connections are all different.

so are the ole IDE connectors now defunkt? and is there any solution ( ie. adaptors etc)

:)

or get an external HD caddy and stick the old hard drive in that and use it as an external USB hard drive.

He has decided that some sort of external hard drive casing would be his best bet, but this one is less than a tenner ( ex vat) would this really do the job? The cheapest he could find were at least double the price of this and I dont want to recommend it until Im sure it will do the job.

cheers
