Just been on the blower for the company acc to send money to some freelance writers in Europe.

The bank disclaimer now has an extra line at the end...I can't remember it off by heart as it is the first time Iv'e heard it.

It was along the line of:

"As part of our ongoing security measures we may transfer details of the remitter and the benefactor to agencies outside the EEC..(European Economic Community?)..This is a new measure to counter terrorism and money laundering...Do you agree to this? (YOu have to agree or no money gets sent).

I can only think it is the U.S.:razz::icon_lol:

Are'nt details of these payments freely available from your company accounts anyway? Surely the freelancer declares them as a matter of routine for tax purposes aswell?

Should a foreign Govt. have access to U.K. citizens banking paraphanalia?

They tell us nothing! :icon_lol:

They told you who was getting your bank details. Not like in the good old days.

Firstly its not MY bank details it's company bank details.....Bring back the good old days...This is getting brazen and against all ideas of privacy and freedom....

That statement is quite correct the way I read it.

No. (not with out very good reason anyway)

Frankly US "anti-terror" policy is more dangerous than Islamic terrorists to the Western way of life.

Broadly I understand they need to bruise a few rights and freedoms to genuinely fight that sort of threat, but at the moment it's all one way with very little come back and they are basically burying rights and freedoms (although at the UK's Labour conference they have actually started to say that some knee-jerk measures need to be reconsidered).
