Martins - Stick with Big Sam

Obafemi Martins says there is 'no point' in Newcastle United losing faith in manager Sam Allardyce.

 

Though Allardyce only took over at St James' Park in the summer, there has already been speculation about his future after an indifferent start to the season.

 

But Magpies striker Martins is adamant that the former Bolton boss should be afforded the time to implement his plan on Tyneside.

 

"Sam does things a little bit differently to other managers and we have had to get used to that," Martins told the Daily Express.

 

"But it's all good. All of the players are happy under Sam and we all like the way he does things.

 

"People have to give him time, maybe two or three years. There is no point losing faith in Sam because he will bring the best out of this team if he stays."

 

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton has also offered his support to Allardyce, insisting the players are fully behind the manager.

 

Barton told The Guardian: "We lost two games and then drew at Sunderland and everyone is saying Sam is under pressure. It's laughable.

 

"That is the way British society has gone, there is a desire to see heads roll. Brits should have their own mind, but we don't.

 

"We let newspapers run amok and decide what we think. More fool you if you believe everything you read.

 

"All the players are behind Sam. He's a top manager and will do well at Newcastle."
