BRAZIL LEGEND JOINS GARFORTH

World Cup star Cafu heads to non-league Town

By MARTIN HARDY, 13/12/2008

TWO-TIME World Cup winner Cafu will sign for non-league Garforth Town in the New Year.

The most-capped player in Brazilian history saw his contract with AC Milan end in the summer - and the 38-year-old has been without a club since.

He is expected to formally announce his retirement soon, but will make the Unibond First Division North outfit his final port of call.

Cafu will not have to get a work permit because he has an Italian passport and is expected to play for his new club in January.

Their chairman is the one who does that small-ball coaching, can't remember his name. Think Clive Woodward took him to Southampton. He's friends with a lot of the Brazilian players apparently.

Simon Clifford. I know him quite well as my cousins both work and coach at GTFC.

He knows a load of Brazilians because of the Brazlian soccer schools he runs.
