The 130ft (40m) so-called "Boro Eye", with 30 glass-sided and climate-controlled observation pods, would stand in the town's Central Square. If permission is given at a council meeting on 9 April, it could be installed by the end of the month. A consultation process to seek the views of residents, businesses and other interested parties is under way. Councillor Dave Budd, Middlesbrough Council's executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: "This latest proposal will add a new dimension to Central Square and will certainly attract new visitors to the town. "The wheel will give residents and visitors a great opportunity to get a new bird's eye view of the town's unique mix of historic and newer buildings." They could call it the Eye Sore tbh.
