I don't mind us not spending big, so long as we don't sell big

Any club who signs Beckham/C Ronaldo etc knows that there is money to be made over and above what he costs them.

I honestly think Carroll has that star potential. Good looking local lad who's world class.

For £30m now you have to ask what is the longer term cost?

You first of all have to buy another top class striker. We all know that's easier said than done.

I hope to goodness Ashley realises what he has and does't get tempted. I'd be more than happy with the seeming policy of no player over £5-6m in exchange for keeping him.

I think it's a little premature to describe him as 'world class'.

And Ashley has already proved two thing to us: that he'll go for a quick buck over long term planning and that he doesn't learn from him mistakes.

I think he's the real deal. I appreciate he's not there quite yet but he will be.

I've called it right so far with him.... since his goal against Juventus in 2007 in fact. :nufc:

I'm gay for Carroll

:huff:

He brings out my inner Meenzer. :)

Pretty much agree with everything posted here - Admittedly bulking up our pretty thin squad would give us an easier ride to the conclusion of the season, but if that has to be at the expense of our prize assets then i can't see it being a decent investment.

However now I cant stop thinking of the moment when carroll or J-B do eventually leave, for whatever reason.

I hope it isn't going to be like when Andy Cole left.

I was only a nipper but i cried like a baby!
