Managed to hit 281. Seems to be easier to force your way to a degree from 280 since you can apply the armor mods so readily.

Plenty of clan stuff to do this week by the looks. Going to target to be 290 by next Tuesday.

Apparently the Nightfall this week is fucking brutal :D a team from our clan tried it last night at levels 285, 293 and 295. Took them 4 attempts and they managed it in the end with 40 seconds left. I asked if I could try it with them tonight and was told they're not going back to that one ever again

Its the Thaviks strike innit? Hes a right annoying bastard of a boss on normal difficulty never mind the nightfall.

Not sure on the name but it's the one with the drones that electrify platforms while the boss runs around trying to close range fight you and cloaking. The fallen are the enemy.

Apparently you don't heal normally, and the only way to proceed is to kill enemies so that they produce light, which you can then stand in and heal yourself with. But doing that while trying to avoid electrified platforms and fighting a close range boss sounds like a challenge.

I did that strike I think 3 times the other night. Those electrified platforms stop being electrified if you kill the shanks on them.

It sounds like a tough nightfall though, will hopefully get time to give it a go this week.

Reddit is apparently experimenting with a possible cheese for him as well btw, when he cloaks he leaps onto the walls of the room and crawls around, if you can spot him and shoot him on there he falls off and will die when he drops out of the map, instant win!

That sounds useful cos despite what Ant says, it's really hard. We just don't have enough time left by the end.

Ant, how much time did you have when you got there?

Am now 285. Started the raid tonight and Fuck. Me.

It's not hard in the conventional sense like, but it's fucking brutal in terms of non-conventional difficulty. Worth a run at though. We spent 3 hours on it tonight and cleared one room.

when we got got there? ah can't really remember tbh but we'd  over 5mins left at the end cause i remember thinking"jesus everyone says this rat king thing is hard and i've done it twice now without actually going for it"

did you destroy the little conflux things as you went along to add on the 30seconds every time?  even in the room just before the boss (the one thats black that you have to platform jump tot he top of) we stopped at the top and picked them off from there before we went in, it's this weeks version of jumping through the rings from last week. (likewise with the constant flow of adds i'd no real issues health wise there was usual a pool of light floating about to get back on track), think i died 3 times, and two of those were being blown up while on the sparrow between sections

i'm not a fan of the timed nightfalls even if i've not had issue with them i don't like the mechanic , cheap way to add difficulty rather than scaling or something more inventive

(in fairness looking at reddit a stack of people are having real difficulty with nightfall this week so maybe i got a lucky run last night)

Yeah we got the time boosts. In part I think I held back a bit too much with the clan guys I was with because they're more established in the group than I am - and their decisions weren't great. For instance, I was told under no circumstances to use any pikes on this run - and I didn't the first time. The second time I got a heavy pike for the tank bit and literally solo'd it while they were pinned down by run of the mill fallen somewhere further back.

The main thing that killed us was the room where you have to let the ghost hack that terminal. They just would not stay in the ring, and so it charged up really slowly. I think that's what did for us anyway.

aye raids are all about learning the phasing for prep and survival tbh

e.g when this happens that door over there opens xyz is coming out of it so have a grenade/heavy ready

going do the nightfall on my other hunter tonight and the milestones then i'll do the raid tomorrow

It's the sneaking past the dog things and having to have certain members of your team act as your eyes that's fucking mental in this one  3 hours and we just couldn't do it.

I'll give it another try I guess, maybe try and be a bit more forceful with my teammates. Did you find you had to kill every enemy in the first section, or could you just fly straight through?

i've made another couple of jumps, but the gear for hunters is fcking grim stat wise it's all mobility and resilience, zero recovery

Aye that's true. There should be some stuff for that somewhere though. Even as a Titan I got a pair of exotic boots that increased my jump boost ability.

Did you find a raiding party yet?

not tried, will tonight when i get in from work i think, just knocked out all the milestones (apart from the raid) on the 2x hunters last two nights, if i can get a decent set of legendary boots i should be able to infuse them and hit 299 i think

the clan system really needs work though it's what put me off trying tbh, it's a  good start having people grouped together like that but unlike wow where you have ingame chat channels, going through the website etc is a bollocks, it seems like our lot do nothing and just do the raids in pugs still.

e.g made a post about the nightfall wwhile in work in the clan, 3hrs later no replies, got home queued in the "guided nightfall" 20mins had a team and knocked it out

They need to stick power levels indicators/where you are  in the "roster" banners when you can see the big list of people as well, hovering over everyone to see see what power they are or if they're in a group doing trials/raids etc takes too long

Aye the communication element is a bit of a challenge actually. Our clan is setting regular time stamps for particular activities. For instance, we agreed raids will be done on Sundays. They're also designating 'specialists' for particular activities with a view to supporting less experienced clan members. So we have trials specialists, raid specialists, and nightfall specialists - and these people agree to put some time aside to help people each week.

It's kinda bizarre in some senses, but also promising to see a community make a real effort.

I've done 3 runs at it in total and suspect that my issue is more about teammates under performing. That said, he got a lot more anomalies than I found and that seems to be the main difference.

I hope I get another chance at it but it depends on other people's availability.

Cracked the nightfal tonight, 5 or 6 goes throughout the day today to get it but its done.

It honestly isn't too bad, we got to the boss every time and nearly had him on each of the last three goes.

Just knowing where the anomalies are gets you a lot of the way there, there are loads of them really.

"Torrent and Zero Hour" are the modifiers for next week, not sure what they mean

tried to do the raid with a pug of mostly 265-275, how people struggle with the gardens so badly is beyond me, the guys standing up top were getting seen... give up after multiple people left/were replaced and about an hour wasted

This is the thing. Some people have spent their whole lives playing COD and just can't grasp the slightly more intricate nature of a game that doesn't require you to just barrel in and shoot everything.

Still haven't managed it myself - the clan is starting to get a bit frustrated by it but we're basically having the same problem as you. I've not made myself available over the weekend for it but maybe I need to do so in order to help them get over the line...

I've only realised over the weekend that the raid is the Straum quest. I solo'd that so in terms of actual difficulty, I agree  I dunno, I think it falls down for the same reasons as the raid - inadequate teammates.

Anyone have a do at the nightfall yesterday? I didn't get much time before going out so I joined a faction and did a couple of PEs and that was it.

Modifiers this week sound fun, the time one means you only get 22 mins and there are no ways to add time but to make up for it all your class abilities recharge much more quickly, grenade spamming FTW!

 Sounds good, yeah.

I didn't get to try it - my clan were back at the raid last night and I missed the chance to be involved so I went and played something else. I'll be pushing it more next week I think, quite busy for this one.

I haven't even tried to do it yet, only really likely to do it with my clan and we get maybe one night a week to play as a group if we're lucky.

We'll get round to it but I'm in no rush to finish up the content anyway, too many people rush through.

Seriously the "destinyTheGame" subreddit is an absolute hellscape of people complaining that there is no content mixed with threads about how to complete all of the daily/weekly/raid objectives as quickly as possible.

This is a good point actually. I noticed even on strikes that people just race through the things as if they've got something to prove. It quite puts me off playing with randoms.

I'm certainly not complaining that the raid is taking so long, but I do wonder a bit about some of the people involved. The clan leader, tbf to him, hasn't had a consistent team for it at any point - which means there's always a mix of newbies and experienced players - but they must have spent about 20 hours on this now
