Watching the SPL isn't much different to watching the north east sunday league so it's no surprise people turned their noses up at Virgil.
It's why you see dross like Scott Sinclair tearing up the league. It's a shambles of a division.

Look absolutely, I think he will play better under Benitez and you can't deny his managerial talent, but I certainly feel there's more value for money out there than £5m for Ciaran Clark....

He's a bit raw, was meant to sign for Torino on summer deadline day but the move fell through. He's had a decent season for Celtic but there's not too many strikers that would trouble them playing in the SPL to be fair.

I think we have a decent spine in the team in Clark, Shelvey, Ritchie and Gayle but even then you are talking signing 6-7 players for the first team alone.
I would hate to go into the season still seeing cunts like Dummett, Anita, Gouffran, Diame etc on the team sheet.......

Lucky to finish second at this rate, we've got a couple of teams breathing down our necks now. The way we have imploded is absolutely fucking ridiculous. Massive investment required in the summer.
I think Derby will do us a favour tonight and stop Huddersfield from winning anyway.

I never thought the words "Mind, we miss Ciaran Clark" would come out of my mouth but we really do. Lascelles and Mbemba looked like they'd been plucked from the non-league to give it a go. Steven Fletcher had the pair of them battered all game.
Thought the exact same. The only guy who should be anywhere near our back 4 next season.

Thought we would struggle but didn't have us down as getting cuffed 3-0.
This league is mental, we were 5 points clear at the start of the week and now we are back level despite beating 2nd and 3rd.

We'd have all taken 7 points from 3 games before we played any of these matches. Still 3 points clear with a superior goal difference so can't complain.

I've not written him off yet. He's scored in the Premier League, he's scored in the Championship and while he hasn't set the division alight he's nowhere near as shit as some people are making out.
He's just a victim of failing to meet the exaggerated expectations and is now the scape goat du jour. Soon enough it'll be back to Perez, or Diame, or Gouffran.
People forget he's just a kid (22). He's younger than Atsu(25), Perez(23) or Sammy (24), but because of his size and reputation people seem to expect him to be the finished article.
He's finished with us if Rafa thinks Murphy is a better option than Mitro at the moment...........
Murphy's a far better option atm so it's hardly lunacy.
Agree with this, he's a better option at the moment and we need to think about now.

cross he did his limited role and is basically playing out of position.They are usually rotten the pair of them, they just weren't bad like!

Class result, even folk like Colback and Dummett had solid games.
Delighted for Gayle to get back amongst the goals and I think Murphy had a decent game as well - his finish was so clever.
Pretty much signals the end for Mitrovic I think.

I reckon Murphy should start but I think it will be unchanged.

Rafa obviously went with a game plan to win a narrow game, gouffrans movement up front is similar to gayles (not saying as good) but to play either of mitrovic or Murphy against their two 6'4" centre backs for 90 minutes would have been pointless IMO.
The one on one was something he earned through his own hard work, neither Murphy or mitrovic would have done that.
Passing the ball backwards means me keep the ball.. Meaning they don't have the ball. How is this hard to understand?
Rafa timed the substitution well, Murphy was more effective coming off the bench and would probably have been nullified from the first whistle had he started - don't think Gouffran would have offered much coming off the bench either tbh.
That ball by Ritchie though, unreal.
He's just so much better on that right hand side. I hate seeing him out on the left.

Other things I'd say - Diame looks a lot better to me when he's playing deeper. In that number 10 role he was disappointing tonight. Murphy I thought changed the game when he came on.
I thought that as well, but I guess he looks disjointed trying to play in tandem with Gouffran, looks far more accomplished alongside Shelvey - which makes sense tbf.

We'd be running away with this league if we didn't play dross like Dummett, Colback and Gouffran by the way.
