Judging by the size of that shirt they were expecting to sign Viduka.

Impossible. No one will ever reach such constant levels of 'moronicness'. Alan Smith ? Geremi ?

I don't think so. I recall one interview (might have been the one in The Mag) where Allardyce commented that the sale of the club hindered him, he said something to the effect of "we had some big names lined up under Shepherd's era, but along came the sale and that changed everything". Not sure if he was suggesting that funds were not there or that the sale delayed him in the transfer market and those targets were snapped up by other clubs.

The Sun Sho's going to Stoke Published: Today STOKE boss Tony Pulis is on the verge of landing Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi to boost his side’s charge for the Premier League. Ameobi, 26, looks set to sign on loan for the rest of the season. Ipswich and Norwich were also eyeing the hitman. But Toon boss Kevin Keegan has finally given Ameobi the green light to leave - and Stoke expect to win the race later today.

Liverpool are the worst. Gerrard has turned it into a dark art. Now that you mention that prick, where was he when all this was kicking off ? once again showing his qualities as captain.

As someone once said, "at least George Lucas took 30 years to murder his baby, the Warshawski's did it much quicker..."

Agreed, I was gutted when we sold Sir Les but in hindsight he was never that good again, we definitely saw the best of Ferdinand.

Excellent post Craig. It should be only the captains allowed to approach the ref and then it should be in a respectful manner. I know its said all the time but in Rugby players will says things like "come on ref" etc, but as soon as abusive and foul language or intimerdating behaviour is aimed at the officials he is binned. Same should apply to football. Its an emotional psort at the end of the day and a lot of pressure on players but they should still set and example and respect the officials. My thoughts exactly, I welcome Mascherano's red card for his consistent badgering of the ref, but I want to see cards for the likes of Rooney who scream in referee's faces, yet often seem to get away with it, if refs are going to be hard-nosed when it comes to respect from players then it needs to be consistant across the game.

MIKE ASHLEY still wants to flog Newcastle — despite Toon easing their relegation fears. Ashley bought the club last summer for £130million and took on debts of around £100m. And while he celebrated a vital 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, behind the jubilation he continues to look for an exit route. SunSport have been told Ashley may even accept £200m to get out of Toon — a massive reduction on his original asking price of £350m. Ashley took a major hit with the recent fall in banking shares — and estimates put his losses at £129m. Newcastle have denied they tried to sell to DIC — the company busily attempting to buy Liverpool. But City sources insist the word is firmly out that Ashley will do business. Boss Kevin Keegan wants funds for rebuilding and urged Toon to give England striker Michael Owen a new contract. However, there is no sign the club are ready to re-sign Owen or supply millions for new signings.
