  1. Just means you can slack off and still be an 'all A student'
  2. It's so that it seems like everyone is intelligent. Instead of people saying they got a B, they can now say they got an A. An A sounds top notch whereas a B sounds a bit dissapointing...even though A is the new B.
  3. I'm surprised you can't get your results online these days!
  4. I'd say it was our greatest strength I wrote an article on the existence of time (for fun of course) and my belief is that time only exists because we, as humans, need it to to explain changes in sound, vision senses etc... Letting go of the need to explain things such as time can give you a whole new outlook on life! I'm thinking out loud a bit here, but why is it that time is the same all over the world? I know we have time zones and daylight savings, but how is it that we managed to agree on a global scale that a second should be a certain length, that we should have 60 of those in a minute, 60 of those in an hour and 24 of those in a day but we couldn't agree on things like a universal language or currency? I reckon the basic premise comes from measuring a day (how much sun time we have) to help with harvests and the like so we could all have the same basic outline for time - although wouldn't the length of day change depending on a country's proximity to the equator? - but that we all filled in that outline with the same details is what baffles me. Probably the same as with all scientific discoveries. Someone managed to work out a 'clock' and it was globally accepted. The length of the day is irrelevant as it could have been based on a year (revolution of the sun) then divided into smaller units, then divided again and again. The length of the days being 24 hours was probably based on the fact that most intelligent people at the time lived in more central parts of the world...although I'm sure the days would be the same everywhere (365/366 p/annum) apart from the 30 days of night in certain parts of the globe buggering it up. The fact that we need a leap year shows it is still all bollocks anyway.
  5. You should have went for them yourself!
  6. Bus. The buses here come every hour so i'd be waiting outside school for an hour when i get them So you'd rather wait a day or two instead? Yes I'd rather wait til tomorrow. If it's posted tomorrow, you will have to wait at least until Friday then! Get your lazy arse up to the school, waste 10 minutes in a queue, read them for a few minutes, have a bit banter with your mates that you will most likely see there, then the bus will be ready to take you home just in time for tea and crumpets.

  8. I think a lot of people would like to believe that being a ghost is just like in the film of the same name. Staying young, wandering around anywhere, walking through walls, following Demi Moore all over her house, punching people they hate etc... If only it were true!!!

  10. One of the biggest flaws in humans is their obsession and need to explain and make sense of things.
  11. Depends on your starting point I suppose. If you flatly rule out the possibility that anything could survive death in any form whatsoever, then of course it's a ridiculous idea. I don't believe in ghosts or an after life in the sense that most do. I do believe that life as we know it (Jim) is not all holed up in a brain. I believe (a little theory of mine) that the brain may power and control our bodies, but it doesn't mean that putting a bullet into it will kill us. It may make our body become unresponsive, but who's to say our thoughts actually go with it? Impossible to prove without killing yourself, but then how would you tell anyone? Look at the chicken!
  12. Rubbish! Can you not work out your family problems without first understanding mine and all the other families in the world? Can you not understand a book without first watching a bull fight in Spain? That is a terrible argument! Although I can see a slight bit of sense in that, as in not focusing on humans without taking in the surrounding environment, but to go outside of this planet would be totally irrelevant. Enough is known about the universe to have any use in human experience. We don't experience the rest of the universe so it won't affect us. Although I do think science is bollocks! Common sense is the way forward!!!!!!!
  13. Scientists haven't come up with an explanation for their existence because there is no existence to explain.
  14. Tell a 'believer' there is a ghost of a woman and child with no heads in a house and they will see exactly that. In my opinion, that is the start and end to 'are ghosts real?' arguments.
  15. Start learning now and you can do this:
  16. You're still young...cut your losses and just start forcing yourself to play right handed. It'll be an easier life in the long run!
  17. I started on a Jap squire strat and it was fantastic. I regret selling it even though I sold it on after about 5 years for £250 and it was only £189 when I got it. That's when the Japs did good squires!!! First amp (bigger than a dinner plate) was a Peavey Bandit and I still think it produced the best metallica-type crunch sound! Now on a JS1000, bog standard strat, yamaha acoustic and a Vetta combo.
  18. Aye..I've never been one for getting geet loads of guitars and amps and stuff. I have always had one main beast of a guitar, a half decent spare, an acoustic and a good amp (or POD at one point). Doesn't matter how many guitars I have access to, I still just play my JS
  19. Hey..I managed to sort myself out with a satellite dish and all the sky channels off my paper round - that was the days when sky was just sky one, sky movies 1 & 2, UK gold and a load of shopping channels like.
  20. Paper Lads make aboot £100 a week these days don't they?
  21. Do all the young 'ns use smileys in their school work these days?
  22. I bet most people on here have spent more on beer and football than any of us have on guitar equipment over the years. In that respect, it's a relatively cheap hobby.
  23. Yeah, I would estimate I have spent around £15000 over the last 20 years on guitars and amps, but if I hadn't sold stuff I would have spent about 2 or 3 times that much. And that isn't really a lot of money for 20 years of joy considering it has also earned me over £180,000 too
