Too many people in the media are shit scared of upsetting Ashley and now their pal Carver..John Anderson was all for the appointment as was Nick Barnes,who commentates on our games for Radio Newcastle.Moncur is a waste of space.Paid by the club to spout pro-AshIey rhetoric. I wonder how many were actually interviewed for the job,if any.

Thousands were not going to renew their season tickets and maybe they didn't but the attendances haven't been affected so Ashley isn't really being hit in the pocket so why should he worry about what the fans think.As for boycotting his shops to hit him in the pocket,there is little choice out there if your kids want sports gear.Ashley is quite happy for mid-table mediocrity. Ashley is not going to invest £50m in new players to finish 8th 9th instead of 11th or 12th because the extra money gained would be less than £5m.

I've heard of average players becoming good players whilst out injured but never poor players.This could be a first if Santon is now as good as people are now saying.

Too slow to react after not anticipating the danger on both goals.It was there for all to see.We all saw it and as usual some are refusing to say it the way it was due to their love and reluctance to EVER criticise Janmaat's defending. He is more weak in defence than strong in attack.He doesn't create or score goals and he has been at fault for a number of goals conceded.I'd rather have a strong defender than a good overlapping defender.We also have the worry of Santon coming back into the team.Give me Craig and Clark in their prime than our two international defenders.Give me Vennison and Bez over Janmaat and Santon.Give me Nattress or Hughes over Janmaat and Santon.Watson and Elliott were better.

I recently posted regarding our lack of anticipating danger in defence ,and our poor reaction to it.For both goals Janmaat was guilty of both but as he's ( nearly ) everyone's favourite defender/player on here,he hasn't received criticism for his lack of anticipation,his slow reactions and not getting a tackle in.

We don't have an organiser at the back.Our defenders don't anticipate danger especially when balls are about to be played over the top or threaded through.We then don't have the pace to retreive the situations..Howey was excellent at anticipating and mopping up such balls.If a defender can anticipate then at times he can get away with not being particularly fast.Colo does this at times but at other times he hasn't a clue where his man has gone.We are also too easily pushed off the ball when defending.Dummett and Taylor are the only defenders who get stuck in.Both have their faults but both put a shift in .Being local lads might be one of the reasons why.

Carver was a defender and now a coach so why has our defence been so shite for a long time and why have our free kicks and corners been shite for a long time.

For the goal that won, the defender stands off then does a `Janmaat' and turns his back.For the irish lasses goal the defender is tight and sent the wrong way through sheer skill with the keeper at no fault.I agree FIFA have wrongly took into consideration the competition the winner was scored in.

If you cannot find fault in the defending or goalkeeping then a goal in any standard of football should be considered.The goal from the irish lass was technically more difficult than the goal which actually won the award .I cannot see the difference between a Sunday morning player putting one over the keepers head from inside his own half and Beckham doing it in the Premier league,if both keepers were too far off the line.
