  1. Brown only just beat Michael Foot. Untenable.
  2. Still an utter fucking cunt. Nice to know that some things never change. Sausages
  3. Fortunately the euro is going down the shitter too, so our trips to Lanzaro'eee will remain just as cheap/expensive. Pity anyone who has a trip the US planned though.
  4. That's my take on it as well SLP. Tactical blunder imo, and will not advance the cause of PR. I think it would also paralyse the country as I doubt Cameron could get anything through Parliament. Christ, what a mess. I voted Lib Dem and it wouldn't make me livid, I prefer to see democracy in action....the Tories have won most votes....it's their government to form. Fucking sick of party political games where MPs serve their own interests and ignore the voters. Hardly democracy though when the ruling party is a minority. The largest minority though. The only way to resolve that problem is electoral reform innit? Which won't happen under the Conservatives, innit? And didn't happen after 13 years of Labour. Only chance of it happening is Clegg twisting someone's arm.

  7. That is literally all I want right now. The two-party system might not have been shattered last night, but I still think it's on the cards if they can just hang tight and keep their hands clean until the next election, whether it's in October or 2015... Cameron won't offer PR and Clegg and the Lib Dem group will say no confidence. Mandy has already said many times last night he's into PR and Brown started studies in how it was going to work months ago. I take your point however. Nothing to stop Cameron offering a referendum and campaigning in opposition.
  8. Or stuck by his policy of allowing the party which wins the most seats and votes to try to form a government...even though he preferred it was labour.
  9. It's not upto him though. He's saying if Labour approached him (as is their first option) he couldn't get into bed with the main party that doesn't hold anything close to a majority. Isn't he?
  10. does you crystal ball tell you so? When a team's 3-0 down in the 88th minute you don't need a crystal ball to say they'll get 3 points. depends if the oppo then gets another team on the pitch to help them....... Clegg's just said they won't

  12. source? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/election-2...ervyn-King.html Whichever party wins the election will have to impose spending cuts of such severity that they will find themselves exiled from power for a generation, the governor of the Bank of England has reportedly claimed. maybe i havent read that correctly but im sure it doesnt mention Cameron by name. Cameron will be prime minister.
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/20...otential_s.html Good old Nick Robinson; former President of the Oxford University Conservative Association, a member of the Bullingdon Club and chairman of the Young Conservatives. No doubt the Tories will still be bleating on about the left wing bias of the BBC. There's only 33 results to come in and a Labour LIB Dem coalition is STILL 27 short of a majority between them. If they won EVERY seat remaining between them (which they won't) they could only muster a 6 seat majority. Other parties can be roped in...but that wouldn't be stable. Robinson is spot on.

  15. Must be galling that you like her so much yet she's still stopping the Tories getting in dont worry, the witch will be dead soon enough! And Cameron will take her place. As people were saying before the election, with the economic situation as it is, Cameron is going to fuck it up SO badly he'll make Maggie look like a happy memory. i hadnt realised you had a crystal ball Happy. do you do palm reading an'all? I'm just repeating what Mervyn King says.

  17. Lib Lab coalition wouldn't be big enough though. You should be gutted by last night. Given all the factors against Labour, the poor Lib Dem showing, and the media influence the tories have had in a bankrolled tory campaign, they've been unable to even get a majority. Cameron should resign imo. First of all, we should all be gutted because chaos will now rule regardless. The Sky political bloke saying how Labour got less votes this time than they did under Kinnock yet could still form a government. Think it all points to a quick change in the voting system. That would be a change the Conservative party alone has flatly rejected then? How ironic. You must admit this was a piss poor performance from the tories, given the circumstances. People don't like your man Cameron I'm afraid. I disagree, the truth is people dont like Thatcher. How utterly patronising of you CT. People don't like him, he comes across as a priviliged, PR orientated tosser with no convictions. Read this thread again if you don't believe me, and accept he has led the tories to failure. He's right. The average bloke on Tyneside was a working man in the 70's and 80's, many of them including my father, had times on the dole due to the construction industry being on its' arse, and old industries shutting down (for the long term good of the country imo). These people don't care about anything else, they're ingrained in the fact the Conservatives ruined the north and created a north south divide where the tories give to the rich and take from the poor. It's been passed down through generations to a very large amount of people who aren't politically minded enough to think for themselves, and will always display a "we've always voted Labour attitude". You know that's the truth, forgetting about the merits of the latest policies. It's even more true in Liverpool who are an even more insular siege mentality people than we are, fucking Socialist Labour getting votes over there My Dad moved to the North from the Isle of Man (where his parents were small business owners) in 1970. He's always been a bit of a fan of Maggie Thatcher. I still think Cameron's a twat on his own terms though.
  18. As Nick Robinson has just said... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/20...otential_s.html
  19. He's won fuck all though, and he won't be prime minister. Brown will still be there in 2 years time, and that's the thing to get angriest about of all. Doubt it. Any minority government is going to have to include the party with the largest minority. ...and even if Labour did retain any semblence of power, Brown would go the journey. Maybe Miliband Nope. Constitutionally you're right. But the notion of the party with the highest proportion of votes and the highest number of seats having no power would disgust a lot of people who'd make their feelings clear all the way up to the next election (within a year).
  20. Miliband dropped 8% 60% of those voters went to the BNP though. Sorry, you said Tory...my bad.... South Shields +4% Jarrow +7.8% Gateshead +4.8%
  21. Labour South Shields -8.8% Jarrow -4.9% Gateshead -7.3%
