I'm making no comments on this whatsoever, and that's not just to disprove the above theory. TBH I'm totally sick of the whole thing. Comments are made about other websites, it's a fact of life - as I have said before, if you're going to run a website/forum, you've got to accept that you're going to get criticism, no matter how much you don't like it. People don't like N-O - so what? People don't like Toontastic - so what?? Neither place will die as both will retain a core member base. As was said from the outset, Toontastic was never intended to be a competitor to Newcastle-Online, it was designed to offer the people who missed what they enjoyed about the original Toontastic/Toon-Chat the opportunity to enjoy it again. That included to some degree a cliquey-ness so I don't think that can be seen as a criticism of the site. I tend to look at it as 'job done'. Sure I'd like to see it a little bit busier but beggars can't be choosers. If one day it does die, I'll accept it and move on to something new - I've learned things out of doing it so I won't be slitting my wrists. It won't die though 58685 Good post actually. But how do new members become part of the clique? At some point you surely must want to attract some new members?
-
Well you're wrong (again). Becoming a habit, that. 58678 But surely anything I say which disagrees with you is automatically wrong, in your opinion like? One thing though, you amuse me 58683 Methinks you're running out of things to post and so are now trying the childish 'wind up' personal tack. That's pretty sloppy, very transparent, and also ever so slightly surprising. I thought you'd be able to do better than that, this tack being something I'd expect from a few others. Anyway, to the point. Unless you believe that people deliberately post opinions they know to be wrong, I'd say that everybody who posts an opinion on here believes they are correct. The difference is the ability to admit when you're wrong, and to realise that you may be wrong in any case. Both apply to me, but not to you. When I post, I know I may be wrong. In fact, I may be wrong about Luque, as I don't have 150 family members and mates who support his previous club like someone does. You can't be wrong on that one, can you?

What I'm getting at is that instead of worrying about whether HTT takes any pleasure in the idea this forum may not last, you should be directing your comment toward the person who started this daft thread. And also toward those who chipped in and followed up by slagging off people on another forum. It's a bit daft, don't you think? Don't you agree that this is what is petty minded? 58655 We just differ in what we find entertaining I think. When someone makes a tongue in cheek comment about the quality of another poster/message board, as long as its amusing then I'll have a laugh. Although this forum is cliquey (I've admitted as much) I also think its very self-deprecating, and I think that is healthy. Thats the sort of humour that appeals to me-I can laugh at myself basically and I dont mind other people having a laugh at me either. I know that also applies to a lot of the people who HTT is branding snobby and arrogant etc etc. What i'm saying is HTT's responses smack of someone who cant laugh at himself. Which is simply exacerbated by the fact that he takes any observations about N-O way too personally. 58667 I don't believe the comment was "tongue in cheek". Or the replies. 58676 I don't imagine I'm going to persuade you otherwise either so I wont bother trying mate. 58681 No difference with me trying to persuade you that you're wrong about HTT, is there? Read what Dan said a couple of posts up. I've been reading stuff from HTT for a few years now and I don't think he's be smug about this forum failing. Just my opinion.

Glad we can agree.

By the tone of that anyone would think that HTT started the thread slagging off Toontastic. 58634 To be honest Sammy was responding to what HTT said in his many essay like posts on this thread. That's how I see it anyway. 58638 To be fair, I think HTT's 'essay' type posts were prompted by some people slagging his forum. I think you're getting a bit confused about the sequence of events here. Who's Sammy? 58647 You misunderstand. HTT's response (smugly revelling in how toontastic will die because it's cliquey/snobby etc etc) has no relevance to an opinion expressed about the quality of the N-O forum (ie about it being unmitigated shite). The quality/type/nature of posts on here have absolutely no relevance to critical observations made about the standard of the N-O forum. I'm Sammy by the way. 58651 Ah! Does everybody know? Anyway, I think you're wrong on a couple of things. First, I don't see any sign of HTT appearing smug. That's your imagination imo. Second, Your position on the relevance or otherwise of HTT's comments about this forum, comments that were posted in response to uncalled for criticism of his forum, makes no sense to me. You appear to believe it's fine for people on here to slag his forum, but then you become defensive when he responds with critical comment about this forum. Why is that kind of response not relevant? Put yourself in his position, his forum has been slagged, what do you expect him to post assuming you accept he has a right to post? Are you expecting him to sing the praises of this forum? 58663 He's slagged my forum though, so it's OK by you if I respond, no? 58665 What are you asking me for? Never said it wasn't ok, did I? Or are you going to show me where I did say that? What I'm saying is, get the order right and stop laying all the blame for these criticisms on one bloke. It all began with the slagging of the NO forum, not the other way around. What do you expect someone to reply with? BTW Despite the cliques, I think this forum is better than NO, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go around slagging the thing, or people who post on it.

Reincarnation! I buried you in my back garden when you failed to come out of hibernation a couple of years ago.

Who's Sammy? 58656 Then I would suggest that it is indeed you, who is confused. Thanks. Sammy has already told you who he is. If you actually took time to read what other people type, you would have noticed that. 58660 Confused? By people on here? Ho ho. Anyway, sounds like you're getting a bit touchy, pet? Quite a cutting remark there, if I may say so. I'm absolutely gutted that you think I don't read posts. Ooops! Never crossed your mind that I was writing something and hadn't got to that one yet from your mate?????

The irony of it.

Speaking to a guy who's watched Depo every game for the last 15 odd years, apparently Luque only ever played on the left wing for them once. He says that he wouldn't cope with playing left wing in the Premiership, but would look class up front. Hope that's the reason Souness has bought him. A lot of money to spend to play someone out of position isn't it. 58218 They grow on trees, these blokes who have watched Deportivo every game for the last 15 years. I wonder why I don't know anybody like that? I do know lots of supporters of Manure, Chelsea, Arse, Leeds, Everton, Liverpool etc etc...... LM makes a good point anyway. If you're correct and Luque is a forward, let's hope he's better than Bellamy since he cost twice as much. I'd still also be interested in how you explain away the Souness comments about now having a threat on the left from a proper footballer when he brought in Luque. As I've said before, that means to me that Luque is replacing Robert, not Bellamy. This especially makes sense because Souness saw Bellamy as a right winger, you know, not a left sided player. 58272 Maybe you've mistaken me for someone who thinks Souness is a good manager? Souness is an idiot. He'll play Luque out of position and make him look poor. And as for you comment about them growing on trees? I don't understand what you mean. I have family and friends living in Spain. I regularly visit. I attend Spanish matches, and follow the league quite closely. Just because you don't choose to, doesn't mean nobody else does. 58273 So you'll understand that Luque may, or may not, succeed in the EPL then. Do you think he is an improvement over Bellamy? Based on your knowledge of a different league?

Thank You It seemed boring and childish slagging off people who post on another forum. Glad you like the way it's been turned around.
-
I think it more likely that Owen will leave if Souness stays. He will see the club isn't going forward.
-
This is actually the most stupid thread I've ever looked at on any forum. Just thought I'd mention it. Can't believe some people here talk about 'bairns' on the other forum and then post the sort of childish shite I'm reading in this thread. This forum is a clique, I doubt any newcomer would be made welcome here, but that's just my opinion of one difference between this forum and N.O. There are positives and negatives to both and the link at the start was to a thread that wasn't moronic at all, just someone's opinion. Thought I'd mention that again.

BTW That reads bad, it reads as if all the mods came to us, some did, but not all of them and aye we did target mods who we thought were decent members to help us recover. But we didn't bribe them. Begged aye, but no bribes. Well, not many 57926 Now my feelings are badly hurt 'cos I wasn't approached. Mind you, last year I did win the poll for the worst poster on the board. Not only am I a shite poster, I'm not a decent member either.
-
I think there's some decent posters on their but they're are drowned out by the bairns in general. 57750 All the decent ones have been bribed to stay by being given mod rights tbh. 57767 I'm not a mod 57894 or a decent poster... tbh i think its being drowned by too much compilation posting, graphics posting and repetitive threads. 57945 Haven't seen anything remotely interesting about Newcastle United from you, tbh.

He does have better positional sense than Bernard. Problem is that he's been injured so much he's become a waste of space, I don't think any of us have seen him at his best. I think people forget the limitations of *some* players following their departure, but I'd take Bernard back, that's for sure.
-
Just looked at the thread, I can't see anything moronic about it. The bloke is just expressing an opinion that it seems you disagree with.

When and why? 55689 Look here Anglo Scotch Cup. I'd forgotten about it until this thread started up, and I went to those matches! We won it in 73-74 and in 74-75. Nobody cares, though. Only 1 Scotch club ever won it, which sums it up really. The gap is even bigger now.
