slightly different this year due to the CWC window

CWC clubs will want to get business done by June 10th.

That might have a knock on effect.  For instance if you were competing with us for a player you'd have to work to the same deadline. Wirtz being an example, Flushed Liverpool out.

True, but we're not swimming in that pond (yet) neither are just about everyone else.

  2. It's always the same first few weeks after the season, little happens because every fucker's on holiday, hysteria over nowt every single year.

We'll look for bargains towards end of June and do real business in July when a £70 mill lump (iirc) drops from our own PSR calcs.

Mate of mine was in Weardale Mountain Rescue Team at the time, they were asked to assist with searching in Kielder Forest for debris and remains.
His teammate found a trainer with its “contents”still in it.
Said it was the most depressing thing he’s ever done- lots of luggage and clothing recovered.

Aye, the polis weren't looking forward to having to go, my mates always said the worst things for them to attend were cot deaths or a big RTA, big plane crash would be on a whole different level 😔

Taking Toonpacks long and inglorious history with the polis into consideration here, is that the woman who played Juliet Bravo? :cuppa:

Watched the Lockerbie thing on iPlayer, reminded me I was getting pissed at a do in the bar in North Shields nick when it happened.

there's plenty of people saying they haven't had emails. I'm astounded you seem to be writing these peoples experiences off.

you're talking about a bunch of incompetent clueless cunts who can't even organise their email inbox.

    they're fucking useless.

we’ve been linked with this kid from Monaco. He’d cost about half the price mooted for the PL players. Probably won’t happen because Guehi aside our deals don’t tend to play out in public but it’s the sort of player I think we’ll target instead - like the lad who plays for PSV

In Kev Lawson's thread/piece, he did a bit on him, reckoned he's very good but question marks on him passing the no dickheads rule.

  8. In another months long op. They've just detonated the equivalent of 1100 kg of TNT on the seabed beside the main supports for Putin's "baby" Kerch bridge.

Bridge isn't down (yet) but is a bit poorly.

    Slava Ukraine.

No concerns from me mate, I’ve always had you bookmarked as a fellow wrong ‘un.

Had a bird strike on the nice bit of the A19 this morning- not a pigeon, we hit those regularly as they’re dumb as rocks, and also flying rats.

No, this was a little finch, greenfinch I think.
There was a feathery flash, a dull thud, then the poor little fucker landed ,  dead, on the windscreen wipers briefly, before falling off and probably turning to bird mist.

I was surprised as I thought finches were relatively intelligent for birds.

Not that it helped this little idiot, as his brain shot out of his arse when he hit the screen.

    RIP Finchy. :rip:

Car in front hit a pheasant the other week on way up to the borders, Mrs was somewhat upset, now there's a thick bird to rival pigeons, can fly but prefers to be a pedestrian, even when the cunts do fly it's like at 3ft altitude. Stupid foreign cunts. (actually maybe that's the problem and they look the wrong way 🤷‍♂️)

If Howe is fizzing then the silly fucker needs to stop losing his Technical Directors at an alarming rate

If that comment was aimed squarely at Mitchell then Mitchell puts his notice in a few days later then he's definitely partly to blame if this window doesn't end up being as transformative as it needs to be...

I wouldn't be surprised if we stand pat until end of the month, we'll have a list of targets we'd like from clubs we'll reckon are PSR squeezed, pick up one or two bargains and then go big signing (if we need to) early July.

Edit: As an added bonus this strategy would wind up TBD no end and supercharge his inner Meldrew which would be highly amusing.

His primary interest is power, and retaining it.
If peace is how he does that, he’ll sit down and talk.

He’s going to run out of resources at some point, and also bodies to use the resources.
Even the basic equipment of warfare- trucks, artillery etc, need some kind of training to use.
That requires an extensive stock just for training purposes.
More specialist equipment, like tanks, takes longer to train for, and longer to replace what’s lost in battle.
What he’s got is out of date and poorly maintained.

He’ll run out of the gear before he runs out of bodies, but when the number of bodies coming back (or not) gets too big, the plebs will start to question the propaganda, too.

To me, peace is his only real option.

What that peace turns out to be is another question- he could probably fully withdraw and cede all the territory he’s taken, and still spin it as a win back home.

It depends on how hard Ukraine push in any negotiations.

I can see them demanding Crimea be returned as a base of negotiations, then the Donbas region in the east being haggled over.

But what do I know, I’m just a trucker who likes filthy mares

He's like Hitler in 44/45 I think what you say is perfectly rational but Putin's not rational, he won't hand back Crimea because to him it's Russia and it also uses that bridge which was very much his pet project.

Nigh on 750k dead Russians already, the bodies going home (or not) aren't making a difference and I suspect won't, it's a great patriotic war 🙄

He doesn't just want Ukraine he wants the Baltic states back, he won't stop until he's stopped IMO.

I’m not sure Trump has the stones to actually throw Ukraine to the dogs anymore- his recent rhetoric against Putin suggests so too*

*( As much as you can believe a single thing that falls out of TACO’s face anus).

And, if he did, I honestly think Europe would step up and commit to Ukraine more forcefully.

I hope so, but Putin has no interest in peace.

I was reading the other day about Russia’s declared nuclear capabilities, and how they’re very likely bullshit.

Essentially, they probably do have some small, functioning nuclear missiles (ICBM’s?) which they can launch off the back of a truck.

Their long-range, silo based arsenal, which carries the proper big boys, hydrogen fusion warheads, are very likely practically useless, due to poor( or non existent) maintenance, and a lack of a source of Tritium, which is needed to trigger the first stage of these weapons.

Without the first stage triggering, the devastating second fusion stage won’t happen.

Given how piss poor the Russian military has been seen to be during this war ( let’s not forget they needed a private army to advance in the earlier part of it, until the bloke had an unfortunate plane crash), it’s fairly credible to me that their nuclear capabilities are way less daunting than they claim.

Granted, you only need one nuclear missile to land to ruin someone’s day, but I think the strengthening of European military capabilities is more subtly aimed at Trump than Putin- basically saying “If you won’t help, we’re more than capable of seeing off Vlad ourselves.

I also think Putin sees this, which is why he’s now willing to enter peace negotiations- he’s put himself in a position where he knows he can’t sustain the war, or even a victory should it come to that, and is now looking to save face and present himself to his people as Vlad the Peacemaker before the woeful state of his military is truly exposed to them.

Agree with a lot of that, but not the last paragraph, the peace talks are a game/front IMO, he'll make some unreasonable demands and when rejected just say "Ukraine doesn't want peace" and on it'll go, sadly the orange shitgibbon will likely buy the story.

Good job we’ve got four then

(no idea of their status tbh, they could all be in getting fixed at Devonport 😬

Long story, short version, had a visit on HMS Amazon in Devonport (1976) courtesy of the RN, on way out we passed a dry dock with one of the hunter killer nukes in it, fuck me, to see one out of the water, they are fucking huge and probably the missile boats are even bigger these days !!!!
