News from Swedish reader Erik, has alerted us that Newcastle have submitted a £4M bid for 23 year-old Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson.

Sebastian Larsson - played for Birmingham last two seasons

One of Sweden’ss biggest football sites, fotbollskanalen.se, is suggesting that Newcastle United have bid 50 million Swedish Kronor (about £4M) for Birmingham City’s Sebastian Larsson today.

Larsson just turned 23 on June 6th and Larsson’s agent has confirmed that he has been in contact with Newcastle.

A regular member of the Arsenal Under-19 team in 2003/2004, Sebastian Larsson occasionally lined up for the Arsenal Reserve side in 2004/2005.

Larsson played three times for Arsenal in the Carling Cup during 2004/2005 and made a further nine appearances in the 2005/2006 season.

In August 2006, Sebastian moved to Birmingham City on a season-long loan and the switch proved to be the making of the youngster.

He has played 78 times for Birmingham in the last two years scoring 10 goals and has played 12 times for the Sweden Under-21 side and 4 times for the full Sweden side.

This is a breaking story and we’ll report more as we hear new news.

    -------

Can score a cracker every now and then?!

  2. Italians ripped to shreds.

Not sure why they still start Kuyt.

    Kuyt played well IMO. :icon_lol:

must have heard, ''Kuyt is working so hard'' about 10 times =) used to hate cunt's like that when I played at school. My lazy Kluivert flair was always overlooked in favour of the try hards....

  3. Jesus france were bad.

Why isn't Diarra playing if Vieira's injured? at least he can pass the ball forward and make something happen, a bit of urgency, 2 DMCs vs romania?! wtf

Nasri should have started instead of Malouda and done a pires from the left. oh well, hope the next game is better.

Gomis was average when he came on, caught in possession once and he should have been pressing far more with fresh legs, lazy bastard. Would like to have seen him start with Benzema but oh well.

  4. He'll give them a lot more than Zambrotta going down that side, Zambrotta's past his best.

Alves overlapping Messi on that side could be very useful for them.

Still think Barca need someone other than Etoo' up front for next season. With all the small, nifty little players they have going forward, a focal point for them lot to play off would make that team immense again.

Aye, Ibrahmovic wold be just the ticket for them.

  5. I think everyone is being too harsh on Salladface.

Remember the question is: ''Rank the following toon managers in order of incompetence, bad decision makling and their ** decisions having a lasting impact to the detriment of Newcastle United**. In order of wankness, most wank first, least wank last.''

He inherited a quite awful mess off of Roeder and thought he was going to be dealing with Fat Fred and a few quid to spend. He ends up getting rid of Dyer and Parker for at least 14m, Bramble, Luque and Babawaster. Spends £10m net on what on the face of it seemed like a good few players, Beye, Faye, Enrique, Viduka - all good sensible buys.

His biggest mistake in the transfer market was ALan fcking Smith. Closely followed by our man behind bars who likes a bit of Maccy Ds and violence every now and then. Tactically, against the poor teams especially, he fucked up by playing for draws. But did his mistakes have lasting impact on NUFC?! wasn't in the job long enough, he never broke up a successful team. Who knows what it would have been like if he had been given more money and time. Pleased the way things have turned out anyhow but it could have been far far worse both under Allardyce and after him.

  6. this is another one like the Carrick, Berbatov situation. Should have got the fat bastard when he was still under 10m, Shearer is his idol also if I remember correctly...

  7. The lad's a bit special

    So is Shola

In an I can jump puddles sort of way.

and Boumsong was supposed to be the new Woodgate

I thought that Boumsong was supposed to just give Souness and Willie a little extra on the side?

  8. to be fair, he made a few dodgy decisions at important times and isn't exactly a leader of men as far as I could tell. Then again, I wasn't in the dressing room, or on the training pitch, but that team had been coached by Jose and his men for over 2 years. All those players know exactly what their job is and are experienced enough to just get on with it and play. They will need a strong character to come in and shape a new team to challenge for trophies that were not won this year =)

  9. Darrent Bent instead of Ambrose

Carrick for a couple of mill off West Ham

Anelka instead of Owen (half price)

    Sol Campbell off Arsenal

    David Bentley off Arsenal

Benni McCarthy for a couple mill, ditto Santa Cruz

probably many more that escape me but we could well have had all the above players and could still be in UEFA at least, oh well =/

  10. I couldn't believe the Times this morning "Man u win match of the century" or something.

There's hyperbole, then there's the UK media's reaction to a one all draw that didn't have a shot for 25 minutes and was decided on penalties.

The result was terrible but last night surely can't be compared to the Milan/liverpool 3-3.

was just about to post this, game of the century when that game was only a few years ago? what a game that was

  11. messi's a better player than ronaldo for me. great attitude a beter dribbler and the fact that rather than showboat, he nearly always creates something.

currently though he's relied upon a little too much, whereas ronaldo is supported by (nearly ) equally able players.

I think the fact he came in the team at such a young age and became the star at a time when Ronaldinho was untouchable quite frankly says it all.

2nd Leg vs United, Messi > Ronaldo

  12. I'd have Woodgate, Huddlestone, Berbatov, Modric, and we'd qualify for top 4

:) Huddlestone is yours if you want him.

I think it would take more than that little lot (all 50mils worth) to make you top four.

let us have a bit of optimism in our own forum eh?! even if it borders on delusion,

Huddlestone needs Kev's arm round him (if it can get round him!), he could be some player.
