  1. Would be a great signing for us though i think a player of his quality would attract interest from better standing clubs than ourselves in the current climate. The fact he's openly said he's interested in somewhat of an incouraging bonus though!
  2. Well first things first, normal service resumed in the terraces tonight! After the recent doom and gllom thats been spreading round sj james of recent weeks, it was a good night to be a geordie tonight! Credit to everyone who turned out tonight and got behind the boys! I just shows what a difference we can have when where behind them! Atmosphere and performance alike we top notch tonight! In a game where we fall behind from a bit of class so early we faught and were good value for our point and feel slight unfortunate not to have won the game, though the performance was as good as a win in my eyes! We were dogged and resilient and created chance well, on another day we'd be going home delighted with three points. Though there we some negatives tonight, firstly n'zogbia needs a rocket up his arse,, his mistake that led to the goal and is consistent loose passes did put us in unecessary trouble at times, which leads me to wonder abouts alladyces thinkin in team selection once again, yes on the night we done well but i still wonder why he didnt play our natural left back enrique? Was it to accomodate our faultless beye whos well worther of his slot and geremi in the same side? I think so, big sams gave him the armband and feels he has to play him. Give the lad credit he done well early in the game, was sooo unlucky not the score with that header! But for me playing him in midfield takes away our balance and in effect our most powerfull weapon...pace on the flanks, milner done well but he should of been on the right with charlie on the left! And then also the subsitition of viduka?? Surely it should of been emre coming on for butt and keeping smith who was AWESOME tonight uptop? Butt held the fort well, was class all night but after scoring that all important eqialiser through taylors strike we should of attacked for the last half an hour? Just think emre would of creative something for oba and smudge! Overall though it was an improvemence from recent games and we certainly looked more like the newcastle we know! Lets kick on now boys, birmingham on saturday! Lets get into the festive season with a good win eh!
  3. I feel we have a reasonably good squad with a few thats surplus to requirements shipped out and a few quality players drafted in but whats the general opinion on where we need to stregnthen? With Freddy coming shoutin to the terraces that we are defensively covered that we need more attacking players and with Malbranques and lennons names shouted about maybe he isnt just wanting strikers? I feel we need one out and out striker and a young talent to get involved partially...but do we need attacking midfielders? Rumour has it milner may stay to rotate with nobby on the right, charlie looks more than capable of building his already swelly reputation with the fans we are sorted down the left with Emre and young matty patterson and alan o'brien to come... Parker in the middle with who though? What do you guys think... 4 or 5 comitted and talented lads a bit more hard work and a top five beckons.... DIRK KUYT NUMBER NINE!!!
  4. Iv said all along i want roeder to carry on and whoever says he doesnt have the credentials to take us up and onwards over years to come just cant be watching what he has done for us...I really like the sound of this Roeder Houllier partnership!
  5. Im just wondering after readin something the other day about O'Niell having talks with bellaz about coming back to the toon should M O'N get the job. Just how many would be in favour of his return and who wouldnt... Me personally would put the flags out and have a p*ss up singing Craig, Craig Bellamy lar lar lar lar lar so the whole street could here. I still stand by what i said when we sold him when he comes back to St.James il stand up and sing his name regardless of what others think....he could of been a legend here.
  6. But who is the majoritys choice? Me personally if we werent to give it to roeder id be 100% behind gettiong Pearce his love for the toon and his undoubted passion is enough in my eyes! Give him our current squad and a bit of cash and he'd do well IMO.
  7. If we finish 7th then we qualify for the inter toto or uefa cup? i thought you could finish anywhere in the league and apply for the inter toto? 6th definatly is uefa cup?
  8. I hope he gets the job full time, he has givin us all the extra bit of belief! He is the man for the job!!!
  9. Today was a great result! We were terrible the first 60 mins and i was crying out for luque and chops at half time! eventually roeder made the right changes and i just had a feeling luque would prove himself today of all days! And michael chopra too, who showed just the true geordie passion needed! Shearer hit back at the mackem fans and i was ecstatic charlie got his well deserved goal! yes we were poor at first but we had more to fight for and we proved too everyone that we still mean business! Ensure roeder completes his badges and offer him the job fulltime and back him financially... People have to start being positive i cant wait for next season! Finaly our sounness wounds are being healed by roeders great managerment skills and attitude! Am a geordie till i die a geordie till i die!
  10. Since Roeder has took charge weve all senn a vast difference in most of our players, notably in defence weve seen robbie elliott look stronger and wiser at centre half, babayaro has impressed me with his attitude and commitment on the pitch looking a far better player of late and ramage continuing to impress, so why oh why does boumsong still play with such obvious doubt in his own ability? The whole defensive line had worked hard and looked more solid but time and time again we see indevidual errors from him that cost us dearly? I understand and agree what shay given said through the week that weve improved but still need to more solid as a side not just in defence. Going forward we look good but why cant we keep our shape? close players down fight and hassel for 90minutes not just after weve lost a player? We showed good tenacity after boumsongs dismissal but it was to late, we were always fighting a lost battle. Something else i dont understand is why nobby is again drifting inside and ramage overlapping when nobby is at his best hugging the touchline and whipping in balls and ramage can support attack but concentrate on his defensive duties. We have a very good starting 11 i just think we need someone who can get the best out of them, roeder has done a good job but do we have enough to carry us through till the end of the season? I look ahead to what i can expect next season and i do feel that well do well under a new regeme, someone who can bring a solid and attacking spirit back to st james park. For me Stuart Pearce is my first choice, he has pasion for the club and even more evidant passion for the game and how it should be played....I know people might disagree but under him i think we could go to a 352 formation next season... Given Ramage...Bramble...Taylor.........3 solid centre halves Parker.......Parker protecting back four and supportting midfield Solano/Milner...Milner/bowyer...Emre...Nzogbia.....solid midfield four with two battling central midfielders Owen...Dyer/Luque....Rotating strikers and shearers replacement I think this would work and bring attacking football back to St James Park i just think it would take an appointment of the likes of a Stuart Pearce to have to passion and the balls to do so.... What do you guys think?
  11. Watching the match yesterday just really apitamised the way things are going for us at the moment. Fair enough we didnt deserve to win, nor did we deserve to lose and to be cheated out of a perfectly fine goal really was just another kick in the balls. We made Wigan look good, in fairness there not a bad side but when our own manager opts to play Amdy Faye in the middle instead of Lee Clark you just cant see us moving forward. Then when arguably our best performer (Bowyer) in the first half gets injured, souness still doesnt put on clarky and puts on Ameobi i really dont understand this one! Lee Clark would have done a better job on the right maintaining a little width we had in bowyer, ameobi looked like a floundering deer who'd lost his mother. He really is poor, his anticipation, movement off the ball and general awareness of his teamates where abouts is pitifull. Again im being negative but there really isnt much to be positive about barring the exception of young Charlie and Emre. Elliott is well out of his depth, he should be running out in a championship side but even with a fit babayaro we still dont have a decent left back...bring back bernard!! We need changes not only to the squad but in our whole gameplan our whole team spirit, souness still bamboozles people with his questionable side selections and tactics and still are threadbare with no real quality in reserve. After saying all that if we take a step back were not that far off a top four side again once we have a fully fit squad. We need to look for a strong centre half but is not essential, i do believe boumsong will get stronger. But we really really need to be looking for a left back...Konchesky, Barry or even Bridge before we even look abroad. We need another striker to partner owen next season although i get the feeling luque will be pushed up front with charlie n'zogbia looking very promising down the left. We really arent that far away, just a little more positivity from the backroom staff in there match preparation and in his tactics we will turn the corner. Souness is on borrowed time and has only till the end of january to turn things around, lets hope this is the team to do so... Given Carr* Boumsong* Taylor Babayaro** Nobby Parker Emre N'Zogbia Owen Shearer/Luque** ** Needs Strengthening
