Why would Celtic scrape in? They'd never even averaged over 40,000 in their history before 1997, while we've averaged over 50,000 17 times. They won 1 European Cup a great achievement, but they're no bigger than us.

Whatever criteria you have is up to you, but to you personally (not including British clubs), who do you view as the 10 biggest clubs in mainland Europe? Here's mine 1. Real Madrid - undoubted 9 European Cup's unparalelled support 2. AC Milan - 6 times European Champions biggest match going support in Italy 3. Barcelona - underachievers, yet they've still achieved a lot, true global club 4. Bayern Munich - have the biggest support of one single club in an individual country in Europe 5. Inter - Fine history and support, spend more than anyone else in Italy 6. Benfica - True European giants, often over looked glorious history, 50% of their country supports them 7. Juventus - Most succesful club in Italian football, most widely supported in Italy but their match going support is a true disgrace and their European record means they're not higher in my list 8. Ajax - Four times champion of Europe in a country where the best players often have to be sold, absolutely astonishing, as long as there's football Ajax will be a big name 9. Borussia Dortmund - Club with the highest average gate in world football currently and they're shite, had a great run in the 90's and deserved their European successes, especially the CL in 1997 10.Marseille - A club similar to my own, decent fan base across France, but the majority of their true support is from the city, the ground is always full, they should be the dominant force in French football, and you could argue that for 2 or 3 years in the 90's they were the best side in Europe. They really should have 2 European Cup's the 1993 one is clouded because of Tapie, and 1991 and the pens loss was a travesty I think of the British clubs only Man Utd and Liverpool would be in there at the expense of OM and BVB.

Of course they are Vic. What did you do today when this site was down? get your mam to squeeze your spots for you. Don't think it's Vic, but the IP address is a bit familiar...... I didn't think two people could have the same IP address, I'll get on to my ISP.

Ahhh, Wurthers Originals now you're talking Didn't Steaua Bucharest beat Barcelona when Venables was the latter's manager? I'm not sure either btw. Edit: Just checked and they did beat them (on pens). Aye 86 a young Dan Petrescu (Fox Mulder) played for Steaua. ps I never knew Gillian Anderson was English.

Sheffield United's appeal dismissed by arbitration panel
McFaul replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I haven't really got much of an opinion on this but you can be 100% sure if the shoe was on the other foot, they'd reinstate West Ham as a Premiership club. -
Aye Darko Pancev too who looked as good as van Basten for them but he was shite when he went to Serie A.

Aye, there was rumours of a £750,000 deal in the offing, but Sheff Wed had just come third in the top flight, won a trophy the season before, and Newcastle had done nothing for years and there wasn't a great deal of evidence that we'd definitely go up. At his age he did what most would do and went to Hillsborough. I remember at John Anderson's testimonial, Waddle played and the fans were singing "Waddle sign for us" but never mind. Yes Alex, that final was shit, it's a shame because Red Star had it in them to play better than that.

I think only an idiot could underrate Chris Waddle. He was player of the year in France when Marseille were the best side in Europe, and in 1991 him and Papin were the key reason they made it to the final. I seem to remember him almost beating AC Milan on his own en route in the Velodrome. A reason why he's not seen as high as he should by some Newcastle supporters is because of the "judas" tag, which was still around in 1993 when he came back with Sheffield Wednesday. I think Waddle could easily have won European Footballer of The Year in 1991, 88-92 were his peak seasons, and he deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as anyone. I don't blame him for leaving Newcastle, we were a desperate club ran by desperate withering old men going no where, and the change imprived his game still further.
