  4. The problem is Ashley fully understands / believes that there is no benefit to be had by throwing money at simply being higher up the table. There is no big pay off for finishing 5th and he has seen the amounts needed to even try to attack it. He will look at the likes of Steve Bruce wasting millions on achieving nothing but survival. Rightly or wrongly he believes survival can be achieved without the big signings and without the big wage bill, hence the european bargain buys. Thats not going to change for us (or most other survivalists) any time soon. In fairness, the much heralded European league gravy train is already up and running in all but name.
  5. When you read a posters post, do you have voice that you associate with that poster. (assuming you have never met them). For me I tend to think of Jim McDonald, Coronation Street when I read Ant And Rik Mayal for Fish Howeyman makes me hear Ant out of Ant and Dec Not sure why btw and might just be me.

  9. A canny rant pud but the line above is where it all falls down. The "club" havent put anything out. They offered him a deal in Jan, he agreed then renaged......according to his agent, not the "club". He then started slagging them off at talk ins and via twitter......nothing to do with the "club". That behaviour "burnt his bridges" and the "club" simply told him he was no longer wanted. Petty maybe, spin no. Nobody came in for him so he re-launched another tirade at the "club". The club then decided all they could do was cut their losses and offered him for free. Even then only one club has decided the Barton baggage is worth it. He turned down a contract, slagged off his employers and has engineered a move albeit not the one he thought he would get. Chez summed this up lovely and it applies so much to everything that goes on with regard to NUFC. Everyone wants to pigeon hole each event into their overall take on things rather than look at each event on an individual basis.

  13. You absolute patronising cunt! I'd go easy on trying to induct Stevie into 'team positive' as well you utter mong! Oh dear
  14. Wasn't it the club who went back on the verbally agreed deal? Not according to Joeys agent. Ah yes, the ever believable Willie McKay... Well as he's Joeys agent he's hardly going to say that unless it was true. You however are talking about January, it appears, just on what you have decided in your own head. I think when you have someone like Stevie, who has been pissed around by our regime more than anyone, telling you the way it is, you have to listen imo.
  15. Would personally like to see us go with an extra creative midfielder playing off the striker rather than two "crap" strikers upfront. As for who should be the striker then I would give Best another go ahead of Ba and Shola. Ba just looks so slow at the minute.

  17. Cant understand why yet again people are trying to over complicate this sorry tale. He was offered a contract in Jan. Verbally agreed then renaged. He then slagged his employers off at talk ins and via twitter. He was then told he wasnt getting a new contract and could go. He then used twitter to cause even more problems prompting the free transfer. Unfortunately for Joey, even on a free virtually every premiership club decided to stay clear. Was a great player last season and may have done so again this season but all of the above could have been avoided had he just signed the deal on the table in January. I think a lot of this is down to him believing his own hype combined with his slime ball agent pissing in his ear all summer. Think he will regret this move very very soon, never mind the relative worship he got around here compared to the abuse he will get down south.
  18. A whole weekend of Joeys bleeding heart no doubt. Oh joy.
