  1. Aye these two points pretty much nail it. The fact that whenever they open contract negotiations, they seem to break down has long term implications as well. This will extend to players coming in too, and it means that we can't sign proven quality because we won't pay them what they want. So we're left with signing "unproven quality" and hoping it comes good. Then in the rare event that we do sign a gem, it's back to the drawing board as soon as their contract comes up for renewal and they want an improved deal, talks break down, etc etc. Really.......Tiote
  2. What's he saying? Everything but the bottom line of he's fell out with Ashley over his talk in ramblings. Not really said anything knew about the situation other than he will leave for CL football. Talks nicely about the club, the area etc. Comes across very well but isnt daft and knows his audience as well. Can only hop he somehow gets a 1 to 1 with Ashley and gets it sorted. Doubtful though.
  3. That wasn't the case with Nolan. Regardless of the contract offered to him and his reluctance to sign it the club decided to sell him. Just like with Carroll, Nolan can't have talked to any clubs (more accurately other clubs can't have talked to him) prior to getting permission from Newcastle United. The club decided that they wanted to sell him. I don't know about you but if I was getting that sort of message from my employer I wouldn't be too keen to hang around. The idea that players wait for permission before talking to clubs is very naive imo - it happens all the time. The point is that once the decision to not sign occurs, both player and club have to do the best thing at that time - and the parasites known as agents start to work their magic. Hence why we were told on this forum two weeks ago by an ITK, that Nolan was off to Fulham.
  4. barton tweeting hes about to talk on talksport
  5. Excellent news. Sounds quite promising according to Rex.
  6. Dont understand your point tbh. I wish they had both signed in January. Both had the option to sign better / longer contracts. I guess my point is all this belated crying about now not getting contracts is a bit rich when they were the ones who knocked them back. Of course the likes of some will put the spin on it to suit them. Example. Barton had the right not to sign because he wanted to see who the club were going to bring in. I guarantee that when his agent turned up a few weeks back to close the deal......nowhere on the list of demands in the agents grubby little paws will have been "Joeys not negotiating til he sees who comes in". If the contract had been right, Im sure McKay would have signed there and then.
  7. You seem to have ignored my point about the club trying to sell Barton behind his back. Not ignored, just dont recall it.
  8. Pardew statement being released at 10.30 on clun site according to this Cwarr ITK.
  9. T'was simply a "point of order", Alex and I snipe quite a lot, all in good fun, it was far from being a defence of CT per se and pedantry is fun. Since I have ignored LM I haven't quite completely recalibrated down the sensitivity of my "making things up" radar/defences. Good Answer. CT, you really haven't said a lot in that post. Do you think the sale of Nolan is a good one? Do you honestly think that Cabaye was signed to replace Nolan... or was Nolan's sale opportunistic because the club was able to force West Ham to offer what they felt was an acceptable figure? If Nolan had signed the contract that Simon Bird talks about would you have seen it as a good thing? Do you think the three players you have idnetified (Jonas, Shola & Lovenkrands) should be sold to facilitate their replacements, or do you think the 35M for Carroll shuold be enough to replace them whilst keeping them for depth? I think it was a pretty clear answer. In an ideal world you would just add to the squad should answer your questions on Nolan but in the real world NUFC are not going to pay him big bucks to as Chez puts it, possible not even make the bench. Would have been excellent if Barton (my player of the season ) and Nolan had signed in January. They chose not to. Re your last paragraph, unless you have your head in the sand its pretty obvious there is a hell of lot going on at St James with regard to replacing these three.
  10. Exactly. And the Barton one that he knocked back in January. I agree about the Nolan contract if that is true (big if of course). Though you could understand his reluctance to sign a deal where a significant bonus is based off the results of the entire team, regardless of who that team consists of. I'm still of the opinion that we should not have even been talking contracts with Nolan at this stage. It was the perfect opportunity - we bring in new players and see how they settle and how Nolan performs up to January. If the new players settle well and if Nolan's influence is faltering then there's no need to offer the contract extension. We could have negotiated his sale at that stage with 18 months to run on his contract. As it is the club rarely says no to offers to buy our players regardless of how influential they are. Case in point our two top scorers (one the club captain the other a local kid) have been sold. From Nolan's perspective though I don't think it's realistic to expect to sign a contacrt that carries you to the age of 33+. Barton is another story altogether. He was right to question the sale of Carroll and the way in which that business was conducted. No question though if the club doesn't show any loyalty to our players you can't expect the players to show loyalty in return. Brainwashed madness mate. The club did show loyalty by offering them both improved longer term deals which THEY turned down. Bit of perspective wouldnt go amiss.
  11. Its a strange question because in an ideal world you wouldnt sell any of the first team you would just add quality to the squad and ideally get shot of the ryan taylors and perch's of this world. However in the real world of Newcastle united / wage bill constraints etc, the James Perchs are not going to fund the Tiotes. Its also hard to say who I would sell bearing in mind that relates directly to who we replace them with. IE Nolan being replaced by Cabaye will hopefully be excellent business. A better question would be who would I ideally like to see replaced in the first team. To that (putting the already done deal of Nolan / Cabaye) I would answer as a priority, Jonas, shola, lovenkrands. Once those three were sorted I would look for improvements on Simpson and Taylor.
  12. Im sorry, but if Barton after 1 good year in 4 should have snapped the contract up in January and put a bit of this much talked about loyalty back into the people who had paid his wages while in Jail / fucked etc.
  13. Exactly. And the Barton one that he knocked back in January.
  14. Maybe not everyone is quite the sheep you clearly seem to be. And lets face it, Happy has a bit of a track record os making stuff up of late. Changes things ever so slightly and passes it off as fact that mugs like you lap up.
  15. We did well to cover over the fact that his legs were gone this season. The perfect crime. Will be surprised if anyone even notices that Nolan's not here next season. Business as usual, chalk up another win for Ashley. He mustn't need legs then cos he was CT'a player of the season. There's no higher authority. Are you sure? You wouldnt be making things up again would you? And that's a player you want to sell? Is there any player at the club whose sale could not be justified? So once again I didnt say he was player of the season And I think you'll also find I've never said I want to sell him. I would say you couldnt make it up, nut you can and do. You should get a job working with Dekka.
  16. Keep popping back for your weekly bore in. So look forward to it.

  18. Getting a bit fucked off with Barton now. All over the back pages Barton this and Barton that. Me Jose and Jonas next! Independant Wish he would just shut the fuck up. He's made his position untenable so the sooner he's gone the better. Playing nicely to the fans and whipping it all up but its only creating bad news stories about the club and wont be endearing new signings.
  19. Is it my eyes or is the girl in the bottom left hand corner being taken from behind!!!!!
  20. Some of, the minority on this board, dont totally agree with that viewpoint. We have looked silly for quite a few years paying mega wages to the useless Mark Vidukas and Alan Smiths of this world and many many more. A calamity jane of an owner true, but one who at least seems to be finally bringing some order back to the club. Most of us will judge this window once it is finished but quite a few realise that we've probably had the best out of Nolan. He played well in the championship in a pretty decent side, playing decent football. How he will fare two years later in a poorer side with the destroyer of football as manager...... I will wager if you pop back onto this forum in August we will all be very excited and very confident about the season ahead.
