  1. If we could get him on a season long loan with a view of a deal for around £15 million at the end of it it would be an excellent move by us.
  2. Out of interest, how much do people think Ba, Carroll and Cisse are worth?
  3. It would be a sideways step if we hand over any of our best players in part exchange, Ba is slightly different with his buy out clause. All both the club and Carroll have to do is stick to their guns and I don't see Liverpool having much choice unless they want him to cost them another £4 million in the next 12 months.
  4. His quotes remind me of what Redknapp used to say when asked about transfers, the financial side and negotiations are dealt with at board level and he has nothing to do with it.
  5. The club will come up with a story that suits both parties I would have thought, like when Shepherd tried to smooth out a return for Distin when Souness wanted him.
  6. Why would Smith's wage only cover Carroll's for a year?I
  7. The thing with a lot of Barton's assists is that they were not so much great balls but more Carroll made the most of them with his ability, like Arsenal away for example. I think Barton only managed 2 assists after Carroll left too so he was hardly spectacular at dead balls, no better than Cabaye anyway. Also to.add what Alex said about the wide men, we have to remember that we are likely to have 2 new fullbacks to what Carroll played with before when he was here and going off the Euro's Debuchy looks to have a lot more going forward than Simpson.
  8. Reading around a few different forums this morning its strange seeing the divide its caused, there are people who were vocal about him being sold who said they wouldn't sell him for any amount yet now they wouldn't have him back under any circumstances Personally I think he's a good player that has the potential to he very good, he was never worth anywhere near £35 million at the time but if we bought him back for up to £14 million or so I wouldn't have a problem, I would pay that for Sturridge or Welbeck and I'd put him in the sake bracket as them. Going back to what Llambias said about Pardew wanting a smaller squad with more quality, we could potentially get rid of Best, Lovenkrands, Ranger and Xisco and still improve the squad by only signing Carroll as their replacement.
  9. They sold Robbie Keane back to Spurs after a few months for a heavy loss, not as heavy as they will take on Carroll though.
  10. Even though Liverpool have rejected the offer you would have thought Carroll's head would have been turned, he has to push it through his end by refusing any other offer that comes in for him.
  11. Offer them the cash we offered Twente for De Jong and see if they accept, I can see Carroll taking a pay cut if he gets the chance to come back too.
  12. Maxi Rodriguez has left Liverpool for Newell's old boys.
  13. Based on absolutely nothing this but could we see Pardew swap formation to one Keegan used in his second spell here? If Debuchy comes in he will get all of his width from his fullbacks and then go with a 3 man midfield with Ben Arfa sat behind a front 2.
  14. I agree with Stevie here and I think Pardew does too, remember Llambias quotes about Pardew wanting a smaller squad but with more quality available from the bench? Also I don't think anyone disputes that we went after De Jong, now I presumed it would have been a replacement for Ba but it's possible that he wasn't and De Jong coming in with Best, Lovenkrands, Ranger and Xisco departing still makes us a much stronger outfit IMO. My biggest problem with Carroll coming in is how we play as I'd rather go for someone that can play anywhere across the front 3, other than that he will be without doubt a good addition.
  15. Liverpool agree a fee with Roma for Borini.
  16. Spurs agree a fee with Man City for Adebayor. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18827137
  17. Seems to be a lot of money over there too, I think there is a half a dozen or so German clubs with a higher income than us. Carr also said that they don't scout much in Germany as the wages are comparable to ours too.
  18. I see Simpson as one of those players that has done well to get us to a certain level but now we're progressing we need better for the starting 11. Going into the summer the 2 positions for me that needed filling were fullback and centre back, simply because looking at our starting 11 the lack of quality there compared to the rest of the team was huge, Debuchy will give us that step up in quality bringing it up to the level of the other players in the starting 11. 2 quality attacking fullbacks can make us a completely different animal going forward.
  19. Qualified for the CL and sold their best player, so they've got money to spend.
  20. Would be a great signing and potentially a massive upgrade on a player for the first team.
  21. That's the positions I think we need to fill too. If the window shuts and we've signed Debuchy, Douglas and Hoilett and not lost any of our big players I'll be more than happy. We can afford to lose Ranger, Xisco and Simpson too if they come in.
  22. "We don't expect anything immediate in the next week or so but we could have a body through the door within 14 days. "I don't envisage too many coming in. "We have a lot of young players here who haven't played much football. "People like Mehdi Abeid and Haris Vuckic. "But we are out there looking at players who will take us forward. "We have various options still and nobody has left." 23. The only thing I remember being posted about them not wanting Carroll to leave is the comments from when he was drunk and said Carroll was worth fuck all and they got a great deal knowing Torres was leaving.
  24. Unless we go back to 4-4-2 I think we would struggle to accommodate him.
