From SSN:

Peterborough United have refused to comment on reports that they have parted company with manager Darren Ferguson.

The Posh have made a poor start to life in the Championship having achieved back to back promotions in their previous two campaigns.

Ferguson only signed a new four-year contract in the summer, but reports now claim that he has left London Road.

Posh management including director of football Barry Fry and chief executive officer Bob Symms are understood to have met with Ferguson on Monday.

A few other sources are claiming it's been done, Fergie jnr out on his ear. Don't get me wrong, I think the bloke's full of himself just like his old man but it's a strange move by Peterborough imo if true, I mean he's likely the best POSH are going to attract manager-wise.

... in fact the Beeb say he's gone:

Peterborough United have parted company with manager Darren Ferguson, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire reports.

The 37-year-old Scot led Posh to back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship after taking over in January 2007.

But the London Road club have struggled in their first season back in the second tier and are currently bottom after winning just two games.

Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Newcastle was their third defeat in a row.

Ferguson had become one of the most highly rated young British managers following successive promotions in his first two full seasons as a manager and was wanted by Reading in the summer.

At the time, Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: "We've got the best young manager in the country, he's just claimed back-to-back promotions and we have a terrific group of young players."

Irish businessman MacAnthony has invested heavily in Posh, even though three of their key players Aaron Mclean, George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith were plucked from non-league sides.

Ferguson has won 73 of his 145 games in charge at London Road, suffering just 40 defeats.

He signed a new four-year contract in July, after he was refused permission to speak to the Royals.
