Question pse, not for me but someone else.

Does house insurance cover damage caused by a big tree in your garden, if it was blown over as it is starting to "fall" slightly ?

"sword of damacles" starting to fall over? or just leaning a bit?

insurance companies are bastards, assume they won't.

Get into the small print that is the only way you can be sure.

If its a healthy tree that suddenly gets blown over you are probably okay. If its an old rotten tree thats been on the way for a while then you probably wont be.

But the small print is the key.

Or....

.... Cut the tree down before it falls down.

That's probably the stance the insurance company will take. They tend not to cover wear and tear so if there are signs of it falling down before the collapse they might ask why you did nothing about it....

whatever you do DON'T CONTACT THEM - they'll immediately find some excuse to cut your coverage immediately

Generally falling trees are covered - but maybe ask a tree specialist what can be done - the Council will often give advice
