If Rafa had our 13/14 team (pre Cabaye leaving), we would be absolutely laughing. Pardew absolutely wasted some fantastic players.

One f them making a point that Carr assembled that squad very cheaply (true) but I just don’t think those deals are available nowadays for internationals, even at the end of their contracts.

Aye, even Remy on loan would cost us £4-5 million now.

I don't think Rafa or anybody else could have done any better with that side the season we finished 5th tbf to Pardew. The reality is that Rafa would have had HBA nowhere near the side

I’m on about when we had Debuchy, Coloccini, Tiote, Cabaye, Remy, Cisse, Ben Arfa and Sissoko in the same side and we could barely string two decent results together

Dr Gloom

Some decent footballers in that side, on paper at least. Shame they wereaky spineless fair weather frenchies, coached by a clueless moron

If I wasn’t a Newcastle fan I’d love to see Pardew back here as it’s what some of the alleged followers of this club deserve

But Pards was English though, and looking at Leazes (guessing its the same loon who used to post on here) timeline on twitter I get the impression that makes a big difference...

Going off that tweet I’d say chezgiven was a better bet ;)

This from Rafa's press conference

Rafa Benitez on transfers. . .

When asked if he will speak about transfer at all this month.

This might be my position for the whole of January, maybe, & then I might talk on February 1 but we will see

Rafa Benitez on his aims

When I decided to come it was because of the potential of the club & everything. I like to have a project, be ambitious, & first of all get into the top 10. I understand how they feel, but now I have to do my job to keep us up

Rafa Benitez on expectations

The problem here is that the expectation is big because of how massive the club is. But we are in a situation we do not deserve to be in because we are such a big club with massive potential, but we have to make sure we stay up

The article is by Martin Hardy so likely to be on the money.

I still don’t see any reason for him to stay on without a guarantee of funds to spend.

Why the fuck would he even entertain the idea of another year working with these jokers?

It definitely smacks of something Ashley would come up with, ie another 12 month sticking plaster in lieu of anything approaching a strategy. Quite why he thinks Benitez would go for it is another matter

I’d be happy if he signs it tho :icon_lol:

Why for the same shit show next year i'd be even happier  if Ashley fucked off.

Rafa "Here I've signed it"

FCB "Here's £5 million spend it wisely"

Rafa "Fuck he's done it again"

I’d rather rafa signed another year, incase the fat twat does go. If not, I’d rather have rafa than another pardew or mclaren

I’ve said it before, but I think young Sorenson deserves a spot on the bench for a last 15 min cameo instead of Joselu..

Kid Dynamite

Apparently Rafa sacked his agent for negotiating a contract Rafa couldn't get out of without a financial penalty. No way he's going to tie himself into another deal when he could walk into most other jobs

I'll be honest mate I think Rafa realises he's done as much as he can here. He's fighting a losing battle window after window. Now he's being nothing short of blackmailed. I think he'll be now looking for another "project" nobody could/should blame him. He's done great  & is well desrved of his legendary status regarding NUFC.

I agree. I’d still like it if he signed a 1 year extension tho :icon_lol:
