We started up as just a group of friends, none of us have played a lot before, I think just the DM and I had played at all the rest were brand new. Its going through a really big surge at the moment thanks to shows like Critical Role and a lot of great online tools to make stuff easier to manage. I heartily recommend having a go at it.
