Sash! did Encore En Fois etc and have a member called Sasha who does a bit of DJing but it's not in the same league as the guy as Alex is on about who is a prog trance DJ, Sash! does more cheesy stuff. There's also another German Sasha as well I believe.

There is indeed, crooner of cheesy numbers such as "We Can Leave The World" and, implausibly enough, also the man behind a rockabilly album under the pseudonym Dick Brave. Germans... :icon_lol:

According to rumour, Renton shares his ambiguous sexuality :icon_lol:

:(

Lies! Although he did look quite "cool"

Also don't forget Bowie made the classic "Hello Newcastle" remark at Roker park. Deserves some kudos for that.

102486

But he was a total cunt to John Peel.

102497

Was he? I didn't know that. I'm not supporting anyone who was a cunt to old Peely.

102499

Aye. John Peel invested time and money getting Bowie started, who never spoke to him again once he was big.

Same with Marc Bolan, who practically lived with him.

Peel stopped being mates with the bands he pushed after that. As much as he loved The Fall or Undertones, he hardly spoke to them outside of sessions.

Don't remember him saying anything bad about Bowie in his autobiography like. He was really hurt about what happened with Bolan though.

He wrote a lot about Bolan. As you say, that one seemed to really hurt. But I think he (or Shiela) also mentioned how he'd gone to a Bowie gig and couldn't even get to speak to him. Might have read it elsewhere though. This is all I can find....

"It's actually quite funny sometimes. With David Bowie there was a stage after Space Oddity when the follow-up records didn't go so well. He finally ended up on a Tyrannosaurus Rex tour himself, opening at the bottom of the bill before an Australian sitar player which, I believe, is about as low as you can get. He was doing his mime act at the time - man locked in a phone box, that sort of thing. Awful theaters. 8:30 would roll around, "David, you're on!" [laughs] And then the next time I saw him he was at a reception being escorted by a group of huge black karate experts. I thought, "Hold on, I'll have a word with David." I started to move toward him, but one of them stepped in front of me and yelled, "Hey, asshole!"

I saw John Peel at Glastonbury, he was doing a segmant for the tele. I did what I do to every celeb I see, the wink and the thumbs up.  He gave me a wave. He didn't look out of place whatsoever and actually looked canny...well...cool.

........and the thumbs up? :(

I can really feel the rage there. :nufc:

The only thing I remember reading about Bowie in his autobiography is something about him lending Bowie money for a taxi or something. I'd check but the book is at home because I've lent it to my mum.

Of course, even if there is no mention of any animosity in there that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
