No finite meaning really . But when think about it I think that broadly its used as an emphasis . Its dependent on context too. "bit of irony there like" statement - 'if you ask me' "where are you going like? " question (obviously) - 'im asking' "he's a slippy bastard like" - 'Large Michael'

Kinda 'off topic' but these books are brilliant - visually stunning . Great to pick up now and then . Chewing gum for the eyes if y like .

Niall Quinn Whining about his shit fans again

And, whilst we brace ourselves for the inevitable sales of Jose Enrique & Tiote and the possible departures of Colo, Gutierrez and Barton, is why I have to say (through gritted teeth) that FCB's slash & burn policies have made Newcastle United a far safer & more sustainable entity than it used to be. Providing we stay up (and I think that's a better than even bet), then the sale of quality players with potentially good ones brought in, or developed, to be sold at a vast profit, will keep Newcastle in decent shape for the foreseeable future. I'm sure that along with some of his strokes there's a thread of foresight with him. Michael 'aparent oxymoron' Ashley'. -

Football's a cruel mistress. Some may say it's a sick beast. I think there has to be a factoring in of the 'Sky money' (or rather the realistically possible massive reduction thereof) that I think will sharply vamoose after the 'hooky tv' final ruling come summer? The whole landscape's gonna change radically and it's gonna be littered with carcasses unfortunately. -

I concur Gene. What's struck me is how swiftly their perilous predicament has manifest itself ? Admittedly , that's down to my own ignorance, as I haven't paid an inordinate amount of my time concerning myself with their club and it's issues. -

Rhys while you're on - do you think Quinn will be there at the start of next season ? Personally I think while he's set for a final valiant push at getting bums on seats (tantamount to a whip-round rather than an atmosphere issue) I think he may stand down after getting Short onboard on the premise of a huge support/crowd that hasn't quite materialised for whatever reason? I know folks' personal financial circumstances come into this given 'current times' (I'm a victim of the construction industry myself so know what its like) Its a genuine question I ask - just interested in Sunlnd fans' take on the Quinn situation ? . . -
Sorry, but he looks really creepy in your avatar. Certainly not an association I think many would make about him, but that's your opinion. I see it more as a look of defiance - in respect of what he was fighting in his life .

Think my favourite SBR'ism is one told by Bryan Robson in a doc talking about Mexico '86. Bryan R saying how heat over there was really oppressive - unbearable at times and the squad stayed in hotel to keep cool and passed time watching films. At time Beverley Hills Cop was out with themetune by Glen Frey - The Heat Is On. The song came kinda ingrained with the players and they used to sing it about the place. Anyway, SBR comes down for breakfast and hears it being sung. Looking exasperated , puts his hand on the radiator ". . the heating's on! ?"

I got one of these "Elvis Presley Dambusters clock plate of Tutenkamun" back when. After this 'ad' they later sold the real thing. Quality bit of kit ! Still got it in the kitchen. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3473/325232...8e13ef7da_b.jpg -
Good poll this. No.7 . My view - Clearly frustrated at what he paid for and what he got, subsequently pretty cluelessly and pig-headedly gave it a crack 'his way', resented the criticism, became vindictive. edit - i'd prefer mechanical woe upon Owen's helicopter.

Just over the moon to stay in the Prem . Illustrates the 'crossroads' that will be summer too. Not much between mid-table teams as it is. Keeping the 'spine' and Graham Carr working some more magic could see us well for next season .

Geedin - great news about Arfa Daley. Nice having a good news story too. Really pleased for him. Be a fantastic boost all round seeing him back . ...Especially if we're still in with a shout of E****e ? . .
