  1. Is that the one where they try to find a bloke who inadvertantly became a youtube sensation when out-takes of his adverts surface? He was a VHS sensation back in the early 80's rather than a youtube hit. They are VERY funny videos of him doing his nut like. Unfortunately nowt in the doc is quite as good as his Angry man caught on camera. Still well worth it like.
  2. Was amazing, never seen anything like it before. The level of production that has gone into it was astounding. Jammy Bastard. Mate of mine was saying tickets weren't even selling out either.
  3. Lost In America Canny funny Albert Brooks comedy made in 1985 about a well off couple who give up on their business ambitions, take their nest-egg and go off on a road trip, trying to emulate their heroes from Easy Rider. Fancying themselves as hippy's, it doesn't quite go to plan when they lose their nest-egg and with it their passion for dropping out. Strange that it's still only available on R1 because it's very highly regarded.
  4. Back to the roots! Back to the roots! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH
  5. A DVD burned with everything Dylan has done since 1991. And £20.....I always put in his fathers day card whatever he puts in my birthday card the week before.
  6. Have you done a 25 man squad yet deano? With all these new signings and Gosling and barfa and xisco and routledge being like new signings. How will they all be catered to?
  7. They don't like, although depends if your talking gross (yes they do) or net (no they don't, by a distance). Their gross spend over the last 20 years (£360Mill) averages at £18Mill per year, the Net averages only £4Mill a year, over the same 20 years (£80Mill total). 20 years ago the world record transfer fee was £8m. Why not go back to 1950, you can get the average down to a few grand. Tell you what, why don't I just go back 4 years, is that "pertinent" enough of a period for you? that makes their average a £5 Mill transfer profit per year. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of the negative hysteria. Aye, that'll do cheers. You were way out Nick.

Why not go back to 1950, you can get the average down to a few grand. Of course 8 mill was worth more 20 years ago than it is today....not sure what the relative worth of 8 mill today would be..... Not just a case of inflation though. The world record now is more than ten times what it was then. £8m might be worth double if you spend it on petrol, but on strikers It's gone through the roof. What's arsenals average over 5 years?

  10. Anyway Nick, as you say, not about spending. Let's hope that Ba and Marveaux out perform our previous freebies . They certainly look more promising than Campbell, Kuqi, Pancrate and Gosling.
  11. Money is important to people. But not to football clubs. Money just decides what league a club is in. If you spend half a billion, you're in the league of Man Uniteds, Chelseas and Man Cities. If you spend 10 million, you're in the league of us, Everton and West Brom and indeed Arsenal.. And there are many such leagues, and none is better than any other. By that I mean that winning one doesn't make the fans feel happier than winning another. So it doesn't matter how much money we spend, because it doesn't matter which league we're in, as regards happiness. When did we last spend. £10m
  12. Didn't he turn Liverpool down over terms? They're clearly the better option for any aspiring player. I've no idea what happened. Don't use questions as argument. All I know is that he hasn't tried to hold us to ransom. Man United are no different from Man City or Chelsea, after they caved in to Rooney's demands. (nothing against Rooney, he's a businessman). I think I misunderstood you. I thought you were suggesting money isn't important, its the majestic game that's important....but what you're actually saying is money is MORE important and paying as little as possible comes before signing the best players in the world. Gotcha Disagree like.

  14. I never said money wasn't important. I'm sure Rooney is happy with his riches, he has worked hard to be a top footballer. But his heart doesn't play for Man United, anyone who thinks that is talking shite. Edited my post and I apologise for the tone as quoted. Are you saying Marveaux had arrived where his heart is?
  15. Oh this obsession with spending lots of money. What is more impressive; an ant carrying a match stick, or a person carrying a book? We should aim to perform well in comparison with our outlay, whatever that may be. This attitude will free you from the vile demands to spend money. Football supporting wasn't invented so that we could encourage people to spend money - it was invented so that we could encourage people to play good football. Frankly, does Rooney play for Man U? Rooney plays for 150,000 a week, and that fact will put a black cloud on anything he does for Man United. How can the money not be as important as the football....but also mean rooney can never do anything outside of its shadow?
  16. The last sentence coming after the first encapsulates you perfectly. Let's hope so though my fellow poster that's not watched a French game in his life.
  17. No-one worried the scousers stepped aside after he failed a medical?

  19. Their income only rose to £120m off the back of Champions league this year. We were pulling in £100m prior to relegation in 2008.
  20. Of course he would. And Barton and every single player we've got and the extra 6 or 7 that Pardew wants to bring in to improve us. Fuck the wage bill, that will just materialise out of somewhere. Its like classic opposition politics. "We wont do the bad things, we'll only do the nice things"........Never any need to explain how it will be done, where the money will come from etc etc. Its quite frightening when you see that West Ham have just spent £16 million over 5 years on one player. I am sure someone will know the facts but I find it hard to believe the earnings percentage ratio today is anywhere near what it was in Sir Johns day. This is where Leazes always falls down. He can never explain how financially it can be done in todays climate. Great if you have a sheik but otherwise books need to be balanced. Yet again you come up with stuff thats totally irrelevant to the discussion. LM isnt arguing that we should buy them all and keep our existing players hes talking about strengthening the squad, not merely gambling on new "talent" while binning the known capable players. Team irrelevant strikes again No he's not, he wants to keep players regardless of costs and sign big names without knowing where the money is coming from The money comes from the owner. He reaps the financial reward when he sells a club in the champions league. If and its a fucking big if, Ashley is nowhere near City or Chelseas wealth, get real. It's foolish to think by spunking 200m on players to reach the C.L. then not doing it. Gamble, gamble, gamble There's more than 2 Champions league places. Should we not aim to compete with Spurs?
