  1.

Are you one of these people who think Labour can win this election by disowning their economic record?

Ed Milliband was part of Gordon Brown's economic policy circle. If he genuinely thought he couldn't do anything to affect what happened to the UK as a result of the global financial crisis, then what was he even doing in the job?

For me, the deficit was lower than it was during the previous Tory government up until the 2008 crisis. They were behaving responsibly, they were spending in line with what they could afford, but it's become an impossible position to argue sadly. Miliband has stated that the banks should have been better regulated, but I'm personally not convinced that the Tories would have been doing anything differently. Labour were very unfortunate to be holding the torch when the crisis hit, the Tories would have been obliterated for generations without it.

  2. Aye but what is he on about? He's not getting a majority, so he HAS to deal with the SNP.

    I suspect this:

Ed Miliband says we are not going to do a deal or have a coalition

with the SNP or give into the SNP’s demands on Trident or the deficit.

But he did not rule out a vote by vote arrangement which could see the SNP keeping a minority Labour government on the road. Trident could

get through on the votes of Tory MPs as could deeper cuts than the SNP

    want in a Labour budget.

  3. I thought he did OK. It doesn't matter how he comes across to card carrying Labour voters, it matters how he came across to people who are trying to decide whether he or Ed will put the economy into reverse. Nobody gives a fuck about the poor, that stopped being a Centrist concern in the UK in 1979.

Ed's very first contribution is the good old blame it on the global financial crisis card, which shows exactly how unimaginative his campaign has been so far. It's like he doesn't even realise Cameron's just said about 5 times that he's created more jobs than the rest of the EU combined.

And he's wearing a blue tie. What a spanner.

Ah I'm sorry, you're one of these deluded people who thinks that a global economic collapse led by the US is something that can be legislated for? I'm curious as to how the Tories would have handled it, I really am. I notice they've not said much on that front. Ever.

  4. Please, Rayvin, no need to constantly beat yourself up about it, I only ever remember you did the 'United' faux pas because you keep bringing it up.

It's definitely, mostly tongue in cheek - although an amount of it is an attempt at penance as a result of being raised with Catholic guilt.

  5. To be fair they've asked a few meaningful questions but there's never any comeback from the fans in the minutes I've ever seen released, i.e. the fan who asked the question calling the clubs bluff are calling 'bollocks' at the carefully prepared non-answer.

Fair enough, it's a bit clearer now - and thanks.

  6. (He's still in a huff about the United thing, Rayvin.)

I know, my repeated attempts to endear myself are apparently falling on deaf ears... I've referred to Man Utd as Manchester, Manure, That Manchester team that isn't City, etc...

  7. No, NOBODY has ever asked the club a meaningful question ever.

I meant at the fan forum meetings. As in, have they selected a group of people who are not going to ask these questions, or is there a history of them just being ignored whenever they do come up.

I've not read a lot of the background in the fan forum meetings, I get enough of this sort of corporate bollocks at work.

  8. Just out of curiosity, has anyone actually ever asked the club any meaningful questions? Or is the issue the fact that the club have always refused to answer them, and that therefore the level of shitness of the questioning is set accordingly?

  9. Tadic has been in and out of the side, so I wouldn't freak out too much.

Christ on a bike it's still Southampton (best defence in the league) v sunderland (joint worst attack in the league)

It's still the team that at the beginning of the season smashed the other one 8-0.

Honestly, people need to calm the fuck down.

The only thing you're really overlooking is that our form is the worst in the league bar nobody. We actually probably deserve to go down.

Sunderland have done this last minute escape shit before, they have a team that knows how to do it. Not saying they will, but I didn't expect them to get a point against Stoke the other day and it happened anyway.

As for freaking out, I'm not personally. I'm very much of the opinion that until we see some kind of demonstration of actual progress from the club that it's not even really worth worrying if they go down. It's not like it'll thwart next season's push for the Champions League.

I think all some people are saying is that it's looking a lot closer now than it did a few weeks ago. And John Carver may just be hopeless enough to see it done.

  10. "Given that the club has alleged that the recent Channel 4 documentary painted an inaccurate picture of the club's plans and goals, and has complained that this was unhelpful to its relationship with the fanbase, why has the club not taken steps to form more open and honest dialogue with fans over the way that things are run? We aren't expecting you to listen to every query, but it seems a little counterproductive to complain about people misrepresenting your aims and goals if you aren't actually communicating any of these things.

Why does the club not tell us more about why things are being run the way they are, and how these decisions will help us progress?"

  11. Forced to choose between the two I'd say we're fine.

I'm not satisfied with that answer though

Surely Fish would concede that the relative chances of us being relegated have increased?

  12. Yeah the cynic in me thinks they're gonna come out of there all starry eyed and trying to win us all over to what Carver is 'trying to do'. I wonder if anyone on here would be any different. I reckon it might be interesting to send Stevie in there
