  1. I know following this club is tedious as fuck, and I know we get the same soundbites over and over again, but at the end of the day he can't come out and tell it like it is, can he? We don't even need him to tbf. We can see how fucking shit they are without him pointing it out.

And Wigan were, as I recall, highly resistant to relegation for a few seasons. If he's had a chat with Martinez and been told that he should just fucking go for it, then I'm all for it. Clearly we aren't going to defend our way out of this.

  2. Weirdly, I think we're going to win this one. I even feel like it'll be comfortable. McClaren should take the handbrake off while we're at home, and if he does, we should overwhelm them.

To be honest, I'm not 100% convinced we're down yet despite everything - we have some tough games ahead, but they're all the ones that we've tended to play well in based on the season so far. Chelsea aren't exactly turning up this season so I think we could get something there.

The only thing that really bothers me is that other teams will feel they can beat anyone as well. I'm not really sure how this is going to end.

That said, reasonably confident that we'll beat West Brom. Happy to say that if we don't, we're down.

  3. If we got relegated he would wank his socks off. We would be on TV more or less every week because we would be a big team on a scalp. More coverage for his empire.

Dunno like, we'd not get seen that much. Not even sure how big a team we are these days versus some of those that we're failing to compete with presently.

  4. Last year I could see the benefit to relegation but I'm not so sure now. The gulf between the PL and championship is only going to widen and we may find we struggle to establish ourselves if we ever come back, with or without Ashley.

  5. Who the fuck is going to play in defence? A back three of Janmaat, colo and Aarons?

Gouffran? Central defence seems the next logical step for him given how we''ve used him in recent games.

He'll be in goal by the end of the year.

  6. I dunno if I unfairly focus on Tiote's errors, but he always seems like an utter liability to me. A guaranteed booking, at least one free kick given away on the edge of the area, and lots of possession surrendered meekly. Alright he breaks play up but I wonder sometimes if he doesn't do more harm than good overall.

  7. Really not looking good. We're a better team than we were last year in terms of performances I think, but everyone else has improved and we've been caught with our trousers down.

It's going to be us, Sunderland or Norwich by the looks of things, for two relegation spots. Not good odds...

  8. That post reads like it was written by someone who is expecting a spanking... Weird to think a team as dire as we are would be worth that level of concern, but maybe Everton are more in the shit than I thought they were this season.

Either way, not expecting anything other than defeat really.

  9. The result against Wham looked positive until Swansea beat Watford. It's starting to feel more desperate to be honest - I don't think we could claim to be dragging ourselves out without another 6 points or so from the next 3 games.

  10. They said in the summer that they were going to spend £50m through the three next three windows and they do seem to be doing that.

What happens after next summer is anyone's guess though, I doubt they will keep it up.

  11. Aye, a week ago we apparently had a £19m offer accepted only to be turned down by the man himself. Either that was bollocks or this is, unless Charnley's strategy here is to demonstrate just how badly we want him by increasing the size of the offer in order to win the lad over.

    Which wouldn't surprise me greatly.
