I thought he'd have been a great signing the summer before last for where we were and trying to get to. Last summer it felt like things had moved on and I was pleased we didn't bite.

When we beat Everton 3-1 (Trippier free kick) I thought Gordon was the best player on the pitch for the first 20 minutes. That first impression + Howe coaching him gave me confidence we hadn't been ripped, but he's beginning to look a right bargain now.

Not confident with this one given the players we are missing and, although Barnes will turn out to be a very good signing, he ought to be limited to 20-30 minute cameos for a couple of more games yet. Fully prepared for a disappointing night and spacker meltdown on Twitter in the fall out.
