January Transfer window 2012- Deadline Day Madness

CT is high as a fucking kite. -
but why are people, who are supposed to support the club, happy with 27m quid of what ought to be the managers transfer money, disappearing ? Isn't this hindering progress ? It hasn't disappeared. Chez's explained this to you far more eloquently than I could on several occasions. That's not a defence of the owner per se but it's the reality of the situation as I see it. It's clearly progress as a team, that much is irrefutable, (it's just not progress at the rate Leazes wants iyam), but for a relegation tipped side we're doing well. You're right about where we need to be strengthening yet (and retention is another matter altogether of course and every bit as important) but I think there was some telling stuff from casino boy who was going on about this sort of signing 'being ideal for the team Pardew's building'. I think that's just code for saying that we're not going to rush to buy a player unless the price is right. We'd been interested previously apparently but not prepared to pay £14 million. So I spose even if the 'Carroll money' was still ringfenced somewhere in a vault (not that it is) theres an argument for saying you dont just spend it immediately because you've got it, because you can end up with any old shit for mega money. I think they drive that austerity too hard btw as no club should ever be left without a striker as we were after Carroll left and I think it was fortunate that didnt hit us harder, but we've now ended up with Ba and Cisse for circa £10 mill combined. If the context is a club that hasnt won anything in the modern game, surely theres some sense in trying to progress steadily, particularly given our biggest asset, which is the apparent unity of the team. Perhaps different if you're a constant CL presence and cant afford one season out of it, maybe then you do go for broke, but that hasn't been us for the best part of a decade.

Undisclosed innit? officially speaking. -
safety wink.

Potentially Prior to come yet too.

Don't think that will happen simply because Pardew's starting point every game (pretty much irrespective of opposition) is to make sure we don't lose a game before it's started, so the focus is always on defence, not losing possession and pressing the opponent. 4-3-3 has to be an option though in certain games as they progress, just because the sheer workrate of Cabaye, Tiote and Jonas should justify playing Ben Arfa more advanced, picking the lock for the front two.

Expecting the speculation for the next fortnight is that this deal has gone ahead because we've already agreed Tiote's transfer fee to Chelsea/Man U. If he used Twitter you'd actually be able to gauge the likelihood of that but he's refreshingly all too diffident/not obsessed with the sound of his own voice for it to be any indicator. -
Imperative he's joining a club he wants to be joining and that's been the case for a while now with our signings iyam. Ba alongside him means theres hopefully an even better prospect of him finding a happy home here and being able to focus on his football rather than racehorses or helicopters to Cheshire.

He's previously stated that we would never spend that sum of money on a player again under Ashley, so he's been proved wrong in that particular prediction. Who ends up out the door is another matter entirely of course and it's way too soon to be getting ahead of ourselves there. It doesnt really make any difference though, his mantra is about spending £35 million to the penny, as though football finances began the day of the Carroll sale. -

Still not done yet so we'll wait and see, but either way I'm glad we didnt get any of the Pardew club scripted build up/'over the line' cobblers for weeks beforehand. Not a fucking peep, just the way it should be.

Cock off bambaclat, stick to goading an old man, it's an easier target for you. didn't you say you would adopt the forum policeman role when people are misposted etc .? Do you think I give a toss what the grey man thinks too Course I will, and I think you'll see I have defended your position once or twice. However, you've not stopped falsely attributing positions to people. You still claim people are pro-Ashley, when in fact (as has been proven by a poll) the overwhelming majority are vehemently 'anti-Ashley'. Stop doing this and people wouldn't be so quick to dismiss your diatribes. Oh and don't say you don't care what Manc-mag says, if you werent bothered by him you'd not mention him in threads where he's not posted, nor would you reply to his every contribution. I reply because he has absolutely nothing to say, and I feel sorry for him because he thinks he's a smart arse and won't admit he's disagreed with me for years despite everything I said would happen, is now happening. I understand it isn't quite clear to some chumps but don't think he's that stupid, he's also obsessed with me. People ARE pro-Ashley, whether you like it or not. I'm only giving my judgement anyway on the future of the club and the setup of the club, and I'm 100% correct too. ....he also happens to be obsessed with me. He replies to me even though I've got him on ignore if the quote pyramids are anything to go by. -

Aye, thats him. And "bottled" on all those occasions is just another way of saying we had players who simply didnt care enough. The reason they didn't care enough on most occasions was because they didnt have the required respect for the club (and there were numerous avoidable reasons for this). We paid the money and it gets you so far but it's only part of the equation. There were only flashes of the commitment required after the Keegan era. I explained this to him and he accepted it in the end. The two FA cup finals were obviously the closest single instances of us actually winning anything. If they happened now he would instead simply describe them both as 'easy' runs (based on his assessment of the opening fixtures for this season). Clearly lost any enjoyment he once got out of the club. -

Nah, Chez says that was to cover losses from the 2 years previous. This is either club commercial income for the current financial year (Virgin money money?), future player sale income or Mike Ashley's own money getting spent. I'm guessing it was more a sideswipe at Leazes' obsessive mantra than a forensic testing of where the funds have come from -
Was just thinking about your posts today as this is being reported. Anyway goes to show owt can happen. Last minute sales remain an obvious concern, the window has to be viewed as a whole come the end of Jan.

Still all just Papiss talk until he signs

Surely got to be worth a point Happy? What is? Assuming Cisse has signed cos its on Twitter. Massively misjudging the mood with that CT, even for an optimist. Bad form.
