His pictures been up on here loads of times now man. Unless he's 'done a baggio' and I've missed it.

Posted in this very thread, and not even a hint of irony or self awareness. It's an odd time for Leazes though just now tbf. He's back raring to post because he's in his element that we've lost a couple of games, but he's having to timidly tip-toe around the everything he got spectacularly wrong about the transfer window, in which he predicted we'd sell the entire first team and buy nobody.
-
Same here. He agrees with me about various p.o.v. too. I know more about Leazes than most of you, and if you knew what I know, people would have a bit more respect for him. If he agrees with you then you're alright mate, I wouldn't worry-you'll be in his good books. As HF says, it's just gentle shirt lifting at the end of the day.

top work!

Basically you're under more scrutiny in a live televised game at the end of the day because the pundits have got to have something to discuss, particularly if the match is dreary as fuck. That doesn't account for the lack of consistency in application between clubs (that much is just due to bias and is wrong), but certainly if it's a televised game you can assume its more likely there'll be comeback than if it's not.

Dunno about that like, I'd go as far as to say it keeps him awake at night. -
 fucking mint! Precisely how Leazes remembers it.

All this reminds me of Gemmill on the steps of the Milburn the day we sold Cole to Man U, trying to justify his decision.

Aye I know I should just get on with it, the only thing that stops me is it's the type of industry where you can go 3 months billing fuck all, then the next 3 month doing 40k. I'm going to brave it I think probably be the best thing I ever do. Mate, it's the main thing you sacrifice when you move away from a salaried post-the certainty of what lands in your account each month. At the same time, it's one of the main reasons you move away from it to start with; the uncertainty (ie opportunity to do better off your own endeavours alone). That and the overall freedom. Can tell you feel like you've got the confidence to do it so go for it. If you think you'll end up getting resentful if you don't do it or keep putting it off, I think that alone is a good enough reason as long as you dont have dependents.

Early post of the year contender.

Back in them days, when Gemmill said 'Jump' and 'pocket the cash', Shepherd said 'how high' and 'how much'?

Good thread btw and all the best Stevie. Parky seems to know what he's talking about, was interesting to read. If it's a recruitment business, did your old boss rinse his old boss of clients etc when he set up? That's how it works in recruitment isn't it as that's basically whats being sold: contacts/relationships. It's not manufacturing/people havent gone to massive expense in developing a product or intellectual property etc etc. Isn't it expected you'll do the same to him when you set up (and equally anyone would do it to you if you employed them and then they subsequently set up?) S'pose that'd be my only guiding principle...if your boss shafted someone on starting up then I wouldn't have any qualms in doing the same to him (and would try to take a philosophical view if someone then did the same to me down the line) As Parky said, if you're legally prohibited from setting up within 6 months (on pain of a financial sanction) fair enough, but if not then just get on with it iyam.

If you're willing to play the game

Feel a bit better having seen that draw-Liverpool would have beaten us anyway at Anfield. Cup is their's if they want it basically-Kenny prophecy/media darling stuff, that's just the way it works with the 'big' clubs. They believe they'll win it so they do.

Unfortunately Pathe refused to film McCracken. Said it was too x-rated.
-
I agree but when you're his age and know that you're never going to get another deal worth even a quarter of what he's currently on then you can understand why he might want to sit and collect the cash. Totally, and why football is fucked outside of the billionaire's club in essence. Mind we've had periods when we've had five or six first teamers falling into the above category, so at least now it's only Smith and he's not even part of the squad.

Brighton were the ideal team to play while we were without our top performers. Woeful team who insisted on trying to play football when they blatantly couldn't, the absolute dream opponent as far as cup ties against lower opposition go. An absolute gift of a tie that we got wrong.
-
Nah, no more 'vindicated' than he was a 'mong' not to start him every game iyam.

Nine and a half weeks. (Right thread btw). Saturday night and Sunday morning -
Basically what I meant to say in much more succinct and punchy language. Well put.

I'd still put the blame for last night at Pardew's door overall because Brighton were there for the taking, but at the same time I think it also goes to show that the: just play Ben Arfa/Pardew is a clueless mong not to and should be sacked (Norwegian rhetoric) of a few weeks back was a load of old shite. It is a team that gets its best results when it's a keep ball/harrying/work ethic and it's not good enough yet to be cavalier against the lions share of opponents. Ben Arfa does lose you the pressing edge out of possession and does surrender possession. He also makes things happen that other players can't and has done since his inclusion. So surprise surprise it is a balancing act after all and requires managerial judgment, unlike what the Norwegian experts would have us believe. For me Pardew got it wrong last night in that this was a match we should have been more adventurous once we'd put in the first 30 being 'solid' ie once we'd established Brighton were essentially shite and prevented them from scoring early and turning it into the usual lower league away cup exit farce. That said Ben Arfa was on the field from the start so he also has to look at himself and his own performance. In fairness he did the best thing of the night with the through ball for Best, but then basically became our most counter productive player. That sums it up for me and shows why it's not the outright 'no brainer' many would have us believe.
